Thank you Randy for the info and all the members here who provided their thoughts on the possible changes.

I tried to read all 17 pages and my eyes are going batty. One thing I know for sure is my husband attended a week long elder training school this past spring and will attend an additional 1 day elder's school this fall. He even stated that something significant must be on the horizon since they are calling everyone back for another day. I am curious and wonder what trick the GB will pull out of their butts.

can anyone imagine the what the elders in his current congregation must be going through ?!.

in their ideal world, they would have df'd him once they knew there would be a trial so they could play the card "he's not one of jw's.

" but since it occurred in a different congregation and he was already punished, there is little they can currently do.. wow, imagine the buzz in the kh when the info started leaking out.

CuriousButterly: The money they are sitting on is huge. Over a billion bucks in unsold Manhatten prime real estate. Despite the incredible real estate difficulties in the US the past few years, there are areas that haven't had that impact. The Brooklyn Heights properties will go for top dollar. With all of their other streamlining and downsizing, they are getting leaner and meaner. The WTS is incredibly smart financially. They will continue to squeeze every last penny out of publishers that they can. They are thinking long term survival because the powers that be KNOW that they have to -- Armageddon is NOT just around the corner. The know the real truth about their false prophecies. No question.

I completely agree and when they are on stage preaching to simplify by providing examples of a brother selling off his homes, cars, boats and land in order to pioneer is a crock of crap. If they want the r&f to simplify then the example has to start from the top. They want us to get rid of our "material possessions" to stay focused then why do they still keep buying/selling and make plans for "expansion" years down the road when the "end" is "near at hand"? The r&f who do not have a mind of their own really believe BS.

This move will be a money maker for the city's taxes when they leave. It is frustrating when the WTS is always "reminding" the publishers to contribute when I am sure they are sitting piles of money. If they have nothing to hide then their bookkeeping needs to be transparant for all to view.

I Pads at Meetings

i know a boe letter just came through approving use of electronic devices (ipads) at meetings for the wt, bible, cd-rom.

anyone care to post the original letter?.

The only letter I know of regarding this is that Elders were specifically discouraged from using iPads/Tablets from the platform for mainly these two reasons:

1. It could be viewed as a showy display of one's means of life.

2. It could cause unnecessary distraction if there is mechanical failure.

That is true. While I do not have a letter on hand my husband mentioned it to me referring to a letter that they were strictly forbidden to use iPads/electronic devices from the platform for reasons DPL stated.
