i've read some old posts and they don't really fit my situation.. my wife just told me she wants a divorce and that's it after nearly 20 years., she doesn't want to try to work on it.. other posts talk about friends and family.
i have no family and no friends (due to a lot of traveling).. i went back to my hometown a year ago (after many years away) and even then old friends treated me as a stranger, like they've moved on.. i've had a lot of emotional / mental problems, basically a breakdown so have found it impossible to fulfill my role as a husband for many years, emotionally and physically and she said she's had enough, although she's never talked about it before.. she went out and had an unplanned one-night-stand.
i forgive me but she says she doesn't love me anymore.. we both find it very difficult to communicate our feelings.
Did I miss it, Or did you not once say you love your wife?
You don't say how old you or your wife are, but after 20 years, she's probably feels like this is the 'best' you have to offer. And she ain't gettin' any younger......Why wouldn't she move on?
You need to let her be,
and you to find a way to take care of yourself.

my mother called today said i must, must, must go get this book and read it.
i see it every time i go to the book store but thought it had something to do with religion so i didn't want it.
i'm going to get it on friday and read it this weekend just wondered if anyone else had read it..
Upon your suggestion, I will give it another go. I haven't read a fiction book in years. Might be interesting.

I was given this book to read a little over a year ago. I got as far as God being a black woman, Jesus a carpenter and the Holy Spirit is an Asian woman that enjoyed cooking. I lost interest and haven't picked it up again.
If you get farther than I did, and it is good. Let me know and I'll try reading it again.

ok i came from a very crazy family.
lots of abuse.
my dad exposed himself to me from the age of three until i left home at 18. my dad did lots of gross things but that is not the jest of this post.. one of the things my dad did that i clearly remember was exposing himself in the elevator at work to woman twice and he almost got fired for it.
I bet the old elder, knew about the abuse, but has either blocked it out or decided to deny that it ever happened, to protect himself. Otherwise he'd have to accept his part of the abuse. The knowing and not protecting a child, you.
I'm sorry this has happened to you.
I hope you find a way to protect the other children. You know that old elder isn't going to be helpful.

my manager expects (never directly ordered me), but expects me to have my work laptop booted up at home every evening after work, all weekend long and every holiday so i can monitor my email and promptly respond to emails.. .
am i wrong for being pissed off about this?.
the company i work for is always talking about their "work life balance" program for employees.
I think staying at a job that makes you feel angry, or feel any other negative emotions, will eventually make you sick.

i am quandry.
i have been here since 1996, but can only post under my husband's name.
but that is not important.. my daughter has been df'd for five years, since she was sixteen.
I like the idea of sharing your experience with others. I love the fact that you stood behind your daughter. I wish my mom could have done that. I haven't seen her in over 12 years.
About the shunning...For the longest time, I felt like if the people that were supposed to love me, (my parents, siblings, the people that watched me grow up your entire life) could suddenly shun me and stop loving me, turn their backs when they saw me in public.... how could I possibly expect any one else to love me?

today, one of the few jw friends that i'm close to got baptized.. i always knew he was a little more into it than i was, but i thought that with high school coming for him (i'm a year older than he is), maybe it would open his eyes a little, and he would see the world differently.
with little contact with him because of seperate schools for the past year, i didn't find out the news until just before our convention started.
when he told me, i had this singular moment of panic and deflation, but i gave the guy a big hug and squeaked out a "congratulations" knowing he's two hours from shooting himself in the foot.
I was baptized at 14. My thought process between the ages of 14-16 was entirely different. At 14 I was trying to make my parents proud. At 16 I though I had a short time left to live, and wanted to enjoy as much of life as I had left before I was destroyed.

i am an ex jw and happy.
my sister is an ultra jw married to an elder.
my non jw grandfather just past away and my sister has said for the last 15 years that she wanted nothing to do with that side of my family including me and especially my grandfather.
I think you should take your share of the money and enjoy. Don't worry about what your sister does with her share. Don't be greedy.
