GROWING UP AS AN EIGHTIES WITNESS

i was my nephews birthday party tonight.

my sister (who i didnt speak to for 15 years because she was dffd was the hostess).. all was well, and we got to talking about growing up as a kid in the truth.

my mum was there and i admoitted to thinking from as early as i could remember till i was about 20 the "the end" was coming any minute.

all was well, and we got to talking about growing up as a kid in the truth. my mum was there and i admoitted to thinking from as early as i could remember till i was about 20 the "the end" was coming any minute.

i wrote lists of things i would need in the event of an emergency, how we would fing eachother if we were seperated when it happened, and kept maps so we could escape persecution. i even tried to dig a big pit to store stuff in so wed be prepared.

now i realize this is stupid, but i was between 8, and 13 when i did this. my parents (both good jws) didnt know as i never told them, and they would never have wanted me to think like that.

so i told my mum and sister, and it turns out she did the same thing !!!!!!!! i have to wonder were we especially odd ? or is this crazy survivalist mentality bred into all jw kids ?

now my brother never did these things, but he never took it as seriously as we did, so i wonder if only devout kids are affected.

Strange days at my old hall. please read

i havent said too much here recently, mainly due to a severe lack of anything to say !, however, tonight my old hall has had a special meeting with a talk by the head of the ireland branch.

he is visiting for a week and afterwords all present will be having snacks and drinks, in the hall.. please tell me what is happening with the world when special saterday night meetings are held with refreshments.

i think its because about 10 people have left recently and made no secret of their reasons, but still, its unheard of for this to happen.. any thoughts.

it just had a big impact on me when i was leaving the watchtower, i still play it now.. "soul 2 soul" keep on moving.

i was playing that a lot at the time so it had an impact on memories.. "havent you heard" patrice rushen.

How old were you when you got Baptised?

i was 13 at the time.

i wanted to get baptised before the end came in 1975. .

back then, 13 was borderline young for baptism, but from what i've been reading, some are now getting baptised as young as 9 or 10. .

i was the mature age of 12 .

it would have been 11 but they messed up my questions so i had to wait.

Do you think you will ever experience terrorism yourself?

i bet the people in the twin towers never thought they would be the victims of a terrorist attack.

sometimes the stuff that happens overseas seem so far away.

i look around my community and find it hard to believe that anything is going to happen here.. i live in southern califonia, near san diego, and who knows?

i live in northern ireland

ive had my house blown up once.

ive been attacked by angry mobs twice.

ive seen several bombs go off nearby, killing 6 people.

ive know many hurt by it too.

and allthough i hope not, im pretty certain ill see it again.

one little point though. America is not the only place to suffer terror attacks. All mine were paid for by loyal irish Americans.

of corse lots of others, from Chili to Afganistan can thank the good old U S government for supporting terror in their countries.

maybe a good place to start ending terrorism is in American wallets.

other clues: many of the elder's wives aren't even in it.

A very well written peice.

i can only add one thing. They stop harassing ones who leave.

i left 2 years ago. my freinds and family all know my feelings about the "truth" and ive helped about 8 others leave in my hall.

the result ?

no visits. no interest. only an announcement recently stating that "all the ones wjhove recently left are to be considered bad accosiates.

very weird indeed.

Considered Suicide ?

after reading about the two jw's committing suicide and larc's comments, how many of us have considered suicide?

i saw a movie about a man trying every trick in the book to committ suicide and failed.

it got to the point in the movie that you know his next new attempt would fail.. most likely some people prefer to die without committing suicide.

Hi Everyone! I'm homeless now!

i just arrived there yesterday afternoon where my bro-in-law dropped me off.

my first night's sleep wasn't exactly eventful since there is no beds available and i have to sleep on the pews which my body doesn't exactly agree with hard wood and no cushion on it.

so i didn't sleep very well.

IN THE NAVY

this week i did what ive allways wanted to do and joined the navy,,, well nany reserve is the best i can do right now.. im waiting for all the tests now, but i just wanted your thoughts on the "moral rightness" of joining the military.. im still gonna do it though!.
