earlier in isp's thread, someone posted a reprint of a 1952 wt article likening women to cows.. i cut and pasted the whole article to my dad as well as my sister and a jw friend who continues to talk to me despite my being labeled apostate.. i did not change any words, only highlighted or bolded the sentences that i thought were especially outrageous.. i sent the article under the 'guise' of a lighthearted joke to this sister, and telling her she needs to do her wifely duty and bear children to her husband.. a few minutes ago, i received this response from my dad.. lisa, .
i don't understand your purpose in sending me e-mails of a 40-year old article from the watchtower that i already have access to if i chose to spend the time to look it up.
i can sense from your "subject" and the high-lighted portions of the article that your intent was perhaps to riducule the counsel, especially the comparison of a young girl to a cow.
i thought your post was sad.
i hope you make up with your dad.
i am in a similar situation with my mum.
i try to avoid it now.
family is just too important.

well sometimes we are.. look we have the knowledge and experience to help a lot of people.must of us have one time been jw's and understand how many think.so lets not put them off by being too negative.. when we were witnesses most of us were quite happy .
we tried to be good people , to put into practise principles that many people think are good.
we did this sometimes even when we didn't want to , because we thought god would hold us accountable and because we cared for people .
a bit late here but,
a lovely post. i throughly agree.
i for one will try to show less animosity in future.

what is it about peace that it is such a difficult thing for man to understand?
by your definition, what exactly is peace?
and how might we go about teaching peace, throughout our lives?.
freedom is a funny thing.
someone fights for it, then as soon as they get it they try to stop others enjoying it.
as far as tibet is concerned i dont know, to be honest.
i remember a saying i think ive got it right.
"here comes the new boss. same as the old boss"
you talk about freedom, but who enjoys real freedom ?
palastinians demand a free palastine. As soon as they get it they will be under the thumb of
corrupt generals, and mullahs.
in my country, Northern Ireland. people have wanted freedom for centuries.
but the freedom from britian means slavery to corrupt terrorist criminal gangs.
America is the most free country in the world. But without sounding too prosaic,
they are slaves to the gun, and drugs. Their police can kill you even though your unarmed, and you will still be dead.
how many americans can get to be president ? are they any freer than the tibetians ?
i wouldnt care if we had alian overlords, as long as they were as good or (hopefully)
better than the current ones.

ps im not picking on you yanks. Ireally love America
do any of you know anything about digital cameras, as i need some advice on buying one.. the family are in the antiquarian print and map dealing business.
many of the old steel engravings are black and white with very fine detail, ink clarity in various stages due to fade out from age, early 1600's - 1860's.. we are looking to put some of these images onto the internet in specialised hosting communities that deal with this business.
image size flat is from a few inches square to 24"x20"+.. which camera would be particularly well suited to the purpose and which features would we be needing ideally?
hi celtic
i too am buying a camera.
i recommend buying "what camera", and "amuteur photographer".
they are a great help.
digital is a tricky thing. i would recommend a long hard look at ordinary film cameras.
they are much superior price wise.
i am buying my new camera tomorrow.
its a minolta. i forhet the brand, but it can go to beuty spots, take the pictures, and come home to make dinner.
all without you leaving the house.
see you

just had a quick look at this site.
it seems like one of the sad witness hating sites that waste our time.
if the person who got this information looked up all the "love you children" articles hed fill a bigger site.
boring, boring, shit.
(to the sites owner) please use your time constructivly to help witnesses.
i wont say any more because id rather forget i read it.

yesterday i had the privilege of taking part in northern irelands local democracy.. i went down to the elections for my local "residents association".
the room was full (about 60 people).
the chairman got up to talk.. he began by reading out a speech which he said he hadnt written himself.. at this point i was concerned.. we then moved on to the election of commitee members.
Hi
yesterday i had the privilege of taking part in northern irelands local democracy.
i went down to the elections for my local "residents association". The room was full (about 60 people)
the chairman got up to talk.
he began by reading out a speech which he said he hadnt written himself.
at this point i was concerned.
we then moved on to the election of commitee members. they have control of about one million pounds.
they asked for nominations, from the back it began,
"i nominate billy" "i second it"
"billy" was duly elected.
this continued with at least 10 more men.
billy, boddy, william, davey, etc, etc, etc.
the fact that all these men were paramilitary terrorists, is of course neither here nor there.
the fact that they were voted into their positions by paramilitary terrorists is a coincidence.
now the majority of my "representatives" are ex prisioners.
they say they are going to build a new sports centre near my house.
any guesses what will happen to the money?
aint life grand.
