I can remember it being instilled into our silly little feminine minds during the early 1970s how inferior we were to the brothers. Besides our tiny inferior brains we were unable to make sensible decisions due to our emotional makeup and we were incapable of thinking logically. Our role as women was basically to act as servants to the men, keep house, cook, clean and produce children. There seemed to be loads of talks on the subject and also magazine articles. Sam Hurd was just one of many elders giving talks of this nature.

I have been out for 25 years and my JW family all seem to accept me for the heathen that I am . I've never officially da'd but I consider myself to be so after all this time, and if my family haven't got the message by now that I'm never going back they never will!
I used to live in dread of the elders coming round and asking questions which would inevitably have lead to me being df'd but I don't really care any more. In fact, I would welcome it as it would help me to feel finally free.
If that ever happens and my family suddenly start to try and shun me after all these years I will just ignore the shunning and tell them to stop being so silly! I am still the same person I have been for the past quarter of a century for crying out loud. It holds no fear over me any more!

Surreal experience last night.
by objectivetruth inrecently a jw friend that my wife & i knew 3 years ago added me on facebook, after i accepted the request she invited me to a dinner that her and her husband are holding next month.. i imagined that she was unaware of our apostasy, so i declined the invitation on the basis of not wanting to ruin her dinner after the rest of her guests fled at our presence.. i'm never sure how old friends will react when i tell them that i'm no longer a jw.. usually their response is "..... permanent-silence......".
her response went something like this, " we are all out!
everyone that is coming is out we all look forward to seeing you guys so much" it turns out that there will be 6 people at the dinner all friends of ours from a congregation that we attended a few years back.. they have all left the organization recently.. pretty crazy experience..

Today's "gay-bashing" and other embarrassing content public talk!
by stuckinarut2 inoh wow..... the public talk today is certainly embarrassing for witnesses!.
started (completely left field too...seemed to come out of nowhere) with condemning homosexuality, and anyone who even tolerates it.
if you like tv shows or movies with gay characters, you are "just as bad" (eg modern family tv show).

If homosexuality is so wrong and unnatural then, as Crazyguy said, why are there so many examples of it happening throughout the animal kingdom? Just google gay animals and see what stories come up!

Are Jdubs going to put the elderly out to pasture with JW.org?
by Coffee House Girl init will be interesting to see how things play out...but one example which got me to thinking about this is my mother.
my mom is a 76 year old regular pioneer (she is one of those who believes that you are "nothing" if you are not a pioneer...the position is everything)-.
i am moving in two weeks to go to grad school, so i have been trying to go out to visit...say goodbye...do things for her before i leave.

I can't help feel sorry for the many elderly JWs who loyally refused to have anything to do with computers back in the early days of the internet when the Society warned against its use. Many JWs refused to allow computers in their homes as they felt they were instruments of Satan. As a result of their misguided loyalty they are now techno dinosaurs in an age where the Society have done a complete u turn and expect all JW homes to have a computer, as long as the rank and file promise to only ever look up jw.org and no other web sites of course

Playing LIVE worldly music and dance party INSIDE kingdomhall??? Is the WT turning pentecostal??
by EndofMysteries ini can't believe this was a gb approved event since it was for international convention people.
if somebody tried to do this on a wedding they'd get dfed in a heart beat.

I am only just getting my head round this one after being rendered totally speechless. Back in the 1960s me and my siblings were banned from listening to pop music as it was from Satan the devil and only classical music or Kingdom melodies were allowed in our house. Yet here we see a group of brothers and sisters on the platform of a Kingdom Hall girating and warbling their way through a medley of the very same songs that I, as a JW teenager, was banned from listening to on the radio by my strict JW parents!! Then to cap it all they end up with the entire congregation up on their feet jumping around and clapping to a worldly song from today's charts with enough gusto to rival any self respecting Pentecostal congregation on a good day. Was this really done with the blessing of the GB?!!
I can only wonder what my elder dad would have to say about this if he was still alive today. In fact, how many elders and elders wives who previously looked down their noses and actually condemned members of the congregation for listening to pop music were there joining in or watching this video on you tube and commenting on how wonderful it is, just because the current GB apparently approves of such behaviour?
The words fickle and hypocritical come to mind.

Name Some Things That JWs Look Down Upon That Normal People Wouldn't Even Think About?
by minimus injws look down on others for saying, "bless you" if someone sneezes.
it has something to do with the demons.
another example is that it is considered satanic if a man took his hat off for a lady!

If a woman or girl turned up at the meeting wearing trousers (pants). Her husband or father (as her head) would be severely reprimanded for allowing such immodest behaviour. I know this from personal experience when attending our very first meeting as a family back in the 1960s! Alarm bells should have been ringing loudly in my dad's brain or even in my mom's brain but sadly not...

Full-time service is MORE IMPORTANT than taking care of elderly parents!!! It says so in the Sept 2014 WT
by EndofMysteries inparagraph 20 out of the article in the sept 2014 study wt about fulltime service says this.... .
"full-time servants age, and so do their parents.
when parents are witnesses, likely their fondest wish is for their children to stay in their assignments.

Have the writers of this drivel stopped to consider for one second what kind of 'witness' this is giving to the outside world? These poor elderly parents are being left to the mercy of members of their congregation to care for their needs because their own flesh and blood need to carry on knocking doors peddling WT literatrash as this is far more important!
Well, I can inform WT that all the worldly people I come into contact with who have seen this sort of thing going on are totally disgusted by it. No TRUE Christian would put the demands of a religion before the needs of their own flesh and blood.
I am currently in the process of trying to get across to my own JW relative who is a full time carer that she shouldn't be expected to go out getting her hours in in the ministry when she is already exhausted. This religion is totally lacking in compassion towards its members and in my mind is evil!

Giving "Jehovahs spirit" credit for mundane, everyday things!
by BU2B ini am hearing this more and more and it is like nails on a chalkboard.
i hear it from the wt, from elders, from my parents and from jws in general.
this had to be jehovahs spirit!

I can remember a newly married pioneer couple back in the 1960s who were very poor due to no jobs but had a particularly generous neighbour. This neighbour was not a JW but had lived next door to the sister and her family for many years and out of the kindness of his heart provided the couple with some furniture for their new home.
I also knew this neighbour and one day he told me that he had never had a word of thanks for his generosity, just an overheard comment that Jehovah always provides for those who are serving him.
Well, this neighbour indignantly told me that "Jehovah" would not be providing any more!

New "Caleb and Sofia" video on JW.ORG....you have to see it!
by stuckinarut2 inok, so i dont want to be a negative bitter person...and we all love little kids, but i am just so torn about the new video just uploaded on jw.org.
if you havent watched it yet, have a look at it...."an animated series that touches hearts".
(yes, its well done...and they certainly like to do a lot of boasting about their technical skills etc...).

I find it particularly chilling watching AM III interacting with the cartoon Caleb like some kind of cuddly jovial uncle figure, having seen the REAL man in action on other videos where he can be seen coldly instructing parents to practically force their teenage children into 'voluntary' baptism then completely shun them if they dare to break any of WT's super controlling rules including using their young minds for independent thought and attempting to break free from the restraints of the cult. He shows no mercy and no concern whatsoever for any danger they might be in having been thrown out into a world they are totally unprepared for.
He is certainly no kind cuddly uncle figure on THOSE videos!!
