Hey its just me

i just wanted to introduce myself ... i've been following this forum for a few months and finallly joined.

my parents became witnesses when i was four years old.

even when i was younger i always had doubts (my sweet old grandparents were "wicked" and would be destroyed at armageddon???

You're right, it's difficult to leave when one has got children. As for me, I discovered this site one year ago and I have tried to keep on attending meetings in order to keep up appearences. However it became more and more difficult so I've stopped attending last January. Hubby still goes with the children (2 littlee girls) but I know now that it's because he is not ready to leave. He needs more time and I let him go, because he also respects my decision.

REINSTATED AND STILL SHUNNED!

i was at a wedding last summer were i met an old friend.

he had been reinstated for 6 months, he was dfed for 4 years.. he had been an elder for 10 years before that, he had commited adultery with another "brothers" wife.

i asked him how it was going.

You're not the only one questionning or thinking the society is wrong about virutally everything they say or teach and you're not the only one with family and children in. I know it's a very hard situation. Many on this board know.

Worst Night of the Year

well, it's that time of year again.

the memorial season is upon us and jws the world over are getting ready for the celebration which this year falls on 17 april.

for the first time since 1975, yours truly will not attend and i couldn't be happier.

I was still wondering if I should attend the memorial or not since I've completly stopped attending meetings at the beginning of January. But what you just wrote helped me to understand how silly it would be to attend.

After all, if the Lord arrived in 1914 as the organization maintains, then that should have been the last year of observing the Memorial shouldn't it? Any observance after that year would be in direct contravention to this clearly stated condition." ) Never thought about it

June 15 WT- Scrolls "Probably most Christians could not carry many with them for preaching"

the june 15 study edition talks about scrolls, we all know the silly picture of the dude hauling scrolls around that the wt has put into a few of their publications.

this paragraph in the new wt states:.

the well-known dead sea scroll of isaiah is almost 24 feet (7.3 m) in length.

POLL/SURVEY- Why Did You Leave The Organization of JW's?

why did you leave the organization of jehovah's witnesses, and/or why are you contemplating leaving the organization of jehovah's witnesses?.

i've tried to boil it down to the most likely answers based on all the reasons i have heard over the years from xjw's.

a. because the watchtower bible & tract society does not have the truth.. b. because i had a personality conflict with other members of the organization.. c. because i discovered that the wtbts was not being honest or forthcoming about its history.. d. because serving jehovah was too difficult and i just wanted to be worldly and do wicked things.. e. because the governing body of jehovah's witnesses have proved to be false prophets.. f. because i found just cause to disagree with erroneous jw teachings.. g. because the governing body and/or elders were hypocritical.
