  being a jehovah witness, did you feel obliged to have a 4 door car?

  once i bought a 2 door car, and everyone was looking at me as if i commited a crime.

  i then reasoned with them saying, "didn't jesus send his deciples by groups of 2?".

  I heard a two-door car is the first step on the road to apostacy ...............A snotty-nosed MS actually said something to me about a year ago (I have a two-door car), about how it "wasn't a good service car" and "when was I getting a 4 door car?" I looked at him and said "bite my ass." We weren't at the Hall and no one else heard so I was safe (giggle).........

  What total assholes.....I actually know a brother who is married and has ONE kid. They got a van so they could cart everyone around in Service on Saturdays...........I guess Jehovah didn't bless his efforts though, because the bank repossed it, cause he couldn't keep up the payments.

  Hey, what about Canada?? Any increase up here? I sincerely doubt it.............I figured that over the last 10 years, with over 70 dubs spending 10 hours in service every month (that's 700 hours), that in one year, our congregation spent 8,400 hours in service. If you multiply this by 10 years, they've spent an average of 84,000 hours in service. Guess how many have "come into the truth"??? One family. Dats it.

  while the jehovah's witnesses avoid giving to charity - after all why bother?, they are going to die at armageddon soon anyway, the rest of the world do their best to help those in dire need.. every year the bbc 'children in need' appeal raises millions to help disadvantaged children everywhere.. uk posters will know what i'm talkng about.. send some money to pudsey!.

  I used to give to 5 different charities but stopped when I found out how much the people at the top were making. Good example is the president of the United Way. Make a million bucks a year. Sorry, but if I give, I want to make sure that what I give is going to the actual people in need.

  If there's a way to ensure this, I'd be more than happy to give.

  FOOD!! More specifically, anything bad for me..........carbs are really tough to overcome. However, I've managed to lose 27 pounds since I first found out I had de cancer........I was in shock at first so I didn't crave anything. Then I started eating just fruits, veggies, whole grain products, herbal teas, vitamins.............

  I've fallen off the wagon somewhat in the last couple of weeks, but at least I haven't put any weight back on. Today so far I've had rye toast and 2 glasses of fresh OJ for breakie, carrot juice and veggie burger for lunch..........I WANT CHOCOLATE CAKE!!!!!!

  I can't wait till I can start exercising again, as I find that that helps control cravings really well.

  i am not a witness or ex-witness but rather a 35 year old mom engaging in a dialogue with witnesses who are coming to my door.

  (i may not change their minds but i'd like to plant seeds of doubt!

  ) i am trying to figure out what is behind a strategy (?

  My personal opinion is the best way you can plant seeds of doubt, is to innocently say that you noticed that one of the articles in the publications says that Jerusalem was destroyed in 607 BCE. I would then emphasize that both the bible and archeology show that Jerusalem was destroyed in 586 BCE.

  If you don't know enough about the Witnesses strange doctrine, their central doctrine is that the bible "proves" that Jesus returned "invisibly" in 1914 CE. How do they come up with this date? Well, they say that Jerusalem was destroyed in 607 BCE. Then you take the 7 "times" mentioned in Daniel, apply it to 607 BCE and you come up with 1914 CE. This is when they say that "he who has the right" to rule mankind would appear, or something like that. Then of course, they claim that the heavenly resurrection began in 1918 and that Jehovah appointed the "Faithful and Discreet Slave Class" in 1919.

  Obviously, without the magical date of 607 BCE, then their whole time line is off and their house of cards collapses.

  To most Witnesses, as long as you believe that this "Faithful And Discreet Slave Class" was appointed by God in 1919, then EVERYTHING else that is wrong in the Organization can be explained away.

  If you can make them realize that this date is totally off, then they could start thinking........hmmmmmmmmmmmm
