  Watchtower and Community Service

  if in fact, the recent donation of blood therapy equipment(refrenced in the link above) is a new chapter in watchtower community service i will be the first to applaud them.

  however, i will reserve a negative attitude about accepting this action as a genuine act of altruism on the part fo the society.. how many of us, during our jw days participated in something as simple as a "walk-a-thon"?

  I still do volunteer work (I haven't been able to though the last 5 weeks.....not till I'm recovered) and have asked this question many times to our elders. Their response is: while there's nothing WRONG with doing volunteer work, our time would be much better spent in the ministry. Charity work will not serve mankind's long term problems, only the Kingdom will. Therefore, don't bother wasting your time helping some poor soul out now, as hours in Service are far more important!

  Whenever we have a WT study on the Good Samaritan, there's always comments made saying that that's what WE'RE doing: we are preaching to our "enemies". I get really irritated and the last time it happened, I put up my hand and explained that this illustration that Jesus gave is not talking about preaching, it's talking about performing acts of kindness and helping people out with MATERIAL needs, end of story.

  Needless to say, the Hall was dead quiet after I said that. After all, everyone knows its true. But seeing as no one in the Hall actually DOES any charity work, then there's that uneasy feeling that they're not doing what Jesus told them to do.

  probably no one is going to give conclusive evidence, but it would be interesting to hear what everyone thinks?.

  in a thread yesterday some stated that the first attack on the world trade center was on the anniversary of the fall of iraq?

  that is very interesting?.

  I Need To Gain Weight??

  i am so bummed!

  i went to the doctor yesterday and he said that i was too thin and that i need to gain 5 or 10 pounds.

  i don't understand why.

  I think 100 pounds for someone 5'5" is definitely a bit on the "too thin" side. I would recommend that we hook up a machine, and suck some of the fat out of me and put it in you!

  If anyone else is too thin, I can certainly help you out.

  If you find it hard to gain weight, I would recommend eating more balanced meals. A hershey bar and a banana isn't really that great.

  Try eating a larger breakfast, say, oatmeal with cream and some sugar.........use whole milks, eat lots of nuts. They're high in fat but it's a good kind of fat. Avacados are very high in fat, but it's very nutritious. Use olive oils when you cook.

  You may want to get your doctor to check your thyroid. You could have an overactive one which could be causing the problem.

  here's a program i'll definitely want to see on november 22nd.

  it seems that there are some archeologists that have done some investigating around roswell, to see if there's any evidence of a crash there 50 years ago.. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&cid=570&ncid=753&e=1&u=/nm/20021116/sc_nm/life_ufo_dc.

  i believe that a ufo did in fact, crash there in 1947 and that there was a cover up.. if it were proven that it was a ufo, how would that affect our society, religion in particular?.

  LB, they'd probably try to say it was "demons"......

  There have been reported sightings of strange things in the sky since the beginning. Egyptians recorded seeing cylinder objects in the skys over Egypt, 5,000 years ago. Heck even certain passages in the bible could be interpreted as UFO......Jacob's ladder, Ezekiel chapter 1..........there are painting from the Middle Ages where there were reports of objects in the sky and it's continued right down to our day.

  As for another crash, there was one that apparently crashed somewhere in Eastern Canada in the 1960s. It was on TV a while ago called "The Shag Harbour Incident". Many credible eye witnesses said they saw a UFO, it crashed in the water, scuba divers were sent down to investigate, something happened while they were down there that apparently really scared them, and then the submerged UFO took off to somewhere else.   Of course, without proper evidence, it's difficult to prove. But I think it'll be very interesting to see what these archeologists have discovered as Roswell.

  The Watchtower is Pagan - Not Us!

  the jw's say anything that is a threat to their religion to be of pagan origin.

  anything that detracts the brainwashed "little flock" away from studying their watchtower magazines is considered to be of pagan origin.

  they even have something on the official watchtower website about cross country skiing and its pagan origins.

  does the society have any sort of explanation as to why they condone absolutely ever pagan symbol in relation to all the worldly holidays, but allow all christians to wear a wedding ring, a totally pagan symbol that originated in egypt?.

  I was born and raised in "the truth", so we never celebrated Christmas, but boy oh boy, did I ever want to. It was very difficult at school, not being able to sing the XMas carols, help decorated the tree in the classroom, listen to stories about Jesus in the manger, or be involved with the gift exchange. I truly believe that being excluded from all this (plus having to stand outside for "O Canada and God Save the Queen every morning) in my youth helped contribute to my feelings or worthlessness as an adult.

  When you're a kid, you don't give a crap if something's "pagan"......you want to have fun and to be accepted by your peers. As an adult, your friends at work don't care that you don't celebrate Christmas, they take you as you are, but this ain't true when you're growing up.

  Some of my ex-Witness friends are celebrating Christmas for the first time this year........I generally buy something for my boss and co-workers, and that's about it.

  1914 and 1935 running out of time?

  the teachings and practices of the society have changed greatly under five respective leaders.russell, (lets not forget barbour,he was the one who published the 1914 date in july 1877,in the book "three worlds,page 83.

  )rutherford,knorr,fred w.franz and now henschel.most wt.publications over 10 yrs.old are outdated and are no longer used.the beliefs that "prove"they are the only true religion are different from their beliefs of fifty yrs.ago.however,the truth will not and cannot change.do you think we can expect the dates 1914 and 1935 to change because of running out of time?i realize that in spite of the changes,they expect members to be in complete agreement with their teachings and to be in complete obedience to the organization.blueblades.

  These two dates ran out long ago.....in 1914 and in 1935. However, there is virtually no chance that the GB will ever get rid of these dates, because without them, they would

  a) no longer have any "validation" to their being "appointed" by God in 1919 to be the F&DS Class, and

  b) without the "closing" date of 1935 for the 144,000 this would mean that tens of thousands more might start professing to be of the "annoying".....I mean "annointed" class. And nothing is more irritating to these old goats than yunguns not remembering their proper place in the Borg.....

  Both dates are pure bullshit and they know it. But since when did that ever stop them from promoting?

  i have been doing it recently and it has been really amazing.

  there is so much that we dont know about as humans.
