In my hall , they always did this by a majority vote. Just like the robots they are, they voted every time to pass the resolution, myself included. The last few times there was a vote and the ? was asked if there were those who opposed, my hand went up because serving MY needs were great. You woulda thought that I committed fornication the way I was treated afterword.

New resolution passed at last service meeting? crazy!!
by finallyfree! inso my ex who has gone back to the wts and is being given the tough love and is questioning whether shes makin the right move.
she told me at the last service meeting that there was a resolution passed that stated that all leftover balances in the congregations accounts would be sent to the society to be used where the need is great, to help out with natural disasters etc and that the funds would be sent back to the congregation if they needed it.. has anyone else who is still in or knows active witnesses heard of this new resolution?
apparently its everywhere in canada as far as i was told .. .

What was the worst part of the conventions for YOU?

i can remember a couple things:.
i remember after the tms when they put the list in the back on the announcement board, there were people that would get up while the last song was being sung to write down the info.

I hated:
The attendants acting like the FBI holding up those signs telling folks to go to their seats.
I really hated the fact that they would put paper towel on the mirrors so that you could not fix yourself up. (I tore one down, anyway
Having to sit in a row with a lot of children or those people who got up every 10 minutes
Having to wait in the long ladies restroom lines, while the men's restroom didn't have many in it.
I hated being assigned to clean up after folks when my bookstudy was assigned.
Sitting next to a real over-weight sister who would not get up and I most definately had trouble squeezing by her to get by.
The public talk because they hyped it so much that you were going to get NEW information.
When my favorite section was not available because of the many song books and Bibles in the seat for their lated guests.
Trying to find a parking spot because most were taken by the time I got their at 6:30 am.

This is real stupid, but anything with "erythorbate", which was added to food and we were told that it contained blood. That rumour ran around in my hall in the Midwest in the late 70's.

Very similar, indeed. My BIL has a was very much a company man just like that brother you described in the above link. Just because he had the elder title, did not mean that he would not be held accountable. When you receive an appointment like that, it is expected that your attitude reflects what a servant is. He wanted the title, not the responsibility. It was not my intention to bash him orignally, but he tried to go toe to toe with me and that was not the best approach with me. If you are wrong, then you are wrong. Just accept it an move on. He tried to accuse me of spreading his business when the bag of worms were already open. He should have just zipped his lip and deal with the crap that HE caused. To the poster Open Mind, If I did not know better, I would think that you were him. I hope that you were not serious about your statement concering my post. That position that was given to him did not free him from sinning. And, furthermore, If I want expose a fraud, I'll do just that!

I really enjoyed reading your experience at Bethel. I guess I would probably be in the minority when I say that I never had any desire to visit Bethel or let alone serve there. I always had a problem with congregations planning trip tours and being charged for the trip. I have contributed quite a bit of money to the Borg and I was not going to PAY extra for the privilege.

Present day, did you have one and why?
by equinox inas a mother of two young children when i came in the truth, i felt so guilty about no birthdays or christmases, i made up to them by present days.
i usually had one on my wedding anniversary in october and one at the start of the summer holidays.
i never really excepted the no birthday rule but went along with it ( put my reasoning head in the sand} and i always loved christmas.

My son never missed out on birthdays because he was the only child of his father and I, so his grandparents on his father's side more than made up for it. I always got his birthday presents the day after and he usually understood. Now, these days, I don't play that game anymore. If I want to buy someone a birthday present, including myself, I'm gonna get it for the day that it is intended for!

I heard of this story a while back and it still sickens my stomach. Yes, I know of a few cases where there was discipline that was given such as this, although none were as violent as this.
