It tells me I had no business knocking on doors at 6 and presenting literature I didn't understand or standing up giving talks that my Mother wrote for me that I didn't really understand. I was such a "good little boy".... but inside I was very uncomfortable and embarrassed.

Jesus never started his ministry untill he was 30 years of age ! What should that tell us ?
by smiddy inwhile this always bothered me ,i still wanted my 2 boys to be baptised as soon as practical so they would survive the big a or else get a resurrection into the new system of things.thats how indoctrinated i was.both my boys were baptised in their early to mid teens.neither have ever been disfellowshipped or disassociated themselves ,however both have nothing to do with the religion today.
(thankfully ) .
how many family lives have been ruined because children/minors have been baptised at a young age and in the majority of cases have committed trivial offences against watchtower policys/rules .sometimes with tragic consequences .. teenagers have a difficult enough time as it is dealing with changes to their bodies and coping with new emotions as they transform from boys to manhood and from girls to womanhood .. here in australia you cant get a car license and drive on your own till your 18 yrs old ,vote at elections , or drink alcohol at a pub.and many people will argue, that is too young to start doing those things as they are not mature enough .. yet the wtb&ts / jehovahs witnesses put life and death matters in the hands of minors / children ,as regards the use of blood and blood products ,fractions of blood ,what is currently acceptible ,and what is not.. an adult witness would find it hard to keep up with what is current and what is not current in the ever changing policy regarding the blood issue ,let alone a minor/teen who is expected to make a life or death decision at a critical time.. a teenager /minor does not have that capacity to make such an enormous decision about life or death ,when the wtb&ts acknowledge they often fail to make right decisions in trivial matters ,hence the disfellowshipping of thousands for trivial rules imposed by the governing body ,man made rules at that .no birthday celebrations,no smoking,no associating with a disfellowshipped baptised witness,no questioning what the governing body has said, accepting a blood transfusion, formerly a disfellowshipping offence , now stated ,you disassociated yourself from jehovahs witness teachings so you disfellowshipped yourself .

When You Prayed...
by LoisLane looking for Superman inat night did you kneel by your bed, sit on the edge of your bed or pray while in bed?.

The P.O in the Hall I grew up in always began the prayers at the meeting "It is with bowed heads and humble hearts, we stand before your heavenly throne...."
I went to visit my father's family in Europe for the summer when I was about 17. I shared a room with my Dad's much older brother. Each night he kneeled beside his bed and said his prayers. Even though he wasn't a Witness, I wondered how God could be displeased with or would destroy anyone like him.

Is This Site As Active As It Was In The Past?
by minimus ini'm just curious if jwn is as busy as it was even a year or two ago?
.
sometimes it seems this place buzzes and other times, not so much....but maybe it's all in my head..

If this site isn't as active as it was in the past it could be because that leaving the Organization isn't as big of a deal to the younger generation or those who weren't around in the hard core days as. In the last 10 years the organization is more like "JW Lite" compared to the pre and post 1975 days. Maybe those who leave now aren't as traumatized or as in need of a site like this.

Any JWs on here that still believe?
by cognac init would be nice to start a thread with those people to reason things over in the bible.
no name calling, no putting others down, etc.
it would be nice to show this to my husband without him seeing things like, "if you were a real jw, you would not be on here to begin with.

I agree. I remember being kind of shocked at first by the language and off color topics made by some of our former JW brothers and sisters on this site. I'm no prude but I did think about how far those who left the organization had "fallen" or the level they had "sunk" to, when they made certain comments or used off color language. I get how angry some are at the organization but I'm still not comfortable with seeing Jehovah's name being mocked. I guess I'm still influenced enough by my JW upbringing that I wouldn't dare to speak disrespectfully about or Jehovah and possibly even the GB.
Someone on here used the term Arm-A-Giddy-Bum instead of saying Armegeddon....I thought that was actually pretty funny. It appealed to the Jr. High sense of humor I still sometimes have.

A Positive Comment About The Witnesses
by minimus inmy mom is 87, in a few weeks.
she's been ill for many years.
she's been in the hospital in the last week and is now in rehab.

Glad your Mom is being looked after by her JW friends.
Lots of churches have great support systems for not only the elderly but day care, summer camp, personal counseling, financial aid, scholarships etc. They don't typically go around bragging that this proves they are the only true religion and that everyone who doesn't become one of the is going to be killed by God.

Very cool apartment...too bad about the power scam, hope they aren't JW's. Theres the Walentas in the real estate article and then there's the Flying Wallendas who are the acrobats who suffered a huge tradgedy back in the 60's when one of their stunts went terribly wrong.
Are the current members of the Flying Wallendas, JW's ? It seems like skydiving and bungee jumping is sort of frowned upon by the Society. Can't imagine how they'd view a JW who teetered on a tight rope across the Grand Canyon.

Seattle has it's own version of the Clock Tower Apartment located in the Smith Tower here

Haven't any of you want to at the least soap their windows?
Yes but part of me doesn't want them living rent free in my head any longer than they already have.
The other part of me ......well it fantasizes about doing something like making a huge poster of that 1984 Watchtower entitled "1914 The Generation That Will Not Pass Away" Click here and scroll down a few posts to see the magazine I'm talking about. Then post it way up high up on a utility pole outside the Hall where everyone who passes by on the busy street out front, can see the false prophecy most JW's don't even know about let alone want to have plastered up for everyone else to see. Or I'd like to make 100 copies of that magazine and put them on the windshields of every car in the K Hall parking lot during the Sunday meeting.
But alas, there is no "they or them" to blame. It's a nameless faceless organization. When things stop working, former JW's just have to go away and make the best of their situation. No matter what happens or what they do to you or your family, YOU are the problem and everyone you know dissapears. They don't want to know you anymore. It's sort of like when Hitler came for the Jews, everyone that could have potentially helped them, dissapeared for fear they might be included in the problem.

I have a family member who is in Bethel and she got braces on her teeth that were done by a Dentist that does Bethelites teeth on a regular basis. The folks at H.Q. don't wait for the New System to care for their teeth.

My response to any one who asks why I am fading
by Skinnedsheep ini have thought a lot about what to say when i am approached.
it will kill my fade, but oh well.. "after the new light i had to test my faith and i couldn't prove to myself that the slave was limited to the governing body.".
if cornered by an elder...."can you prove to me from the scriptures that matt.

You make some really good points especially the part about Charles Russell. You could also tell them that you're not "Fading", it's just that you're a little too "Dim" to understand the New Light. (har har)
