Women as weaker vessel - explain?

ok, the mr. constantly rolls his eyes and tells me i just don't understand anytime any of his literature shows up with something along the lines of "women are the weaker vessel.

" apparently (at least in his own little mind), it does not mean women are these delicate, breakable, weaker things, but something else... something more subtle.

anytime he's ever explained it to me (which has been a few years, i reckon), it's come out sounding like reason for women being second class citizens... is he just putting his own spin on it?

In a nutshell the Jdubs view the woman as the ''lower'' one in the realationship. I know many Jdubs whose husbands use the iron rod on them. When the woman speaks out they are told they are usurping headship....

My ex Jdub friend's husband used to repeatedly tell her that she shows him no respect, [this was ususlly done in front of others] and that he is the head and what he says goes! Carrot tried to control me because he was constantly being told he had no headship and was under the thumb, he attempted it once before he was slapped down. Lol...

In the cong i was in an elder told his son [who told Carrot] that wives are like dogs, you need to break their spirit! They pretend they treat their wives like they are precious china cups but in reality they treat their wives no better than the muslim religion do.

Carrots brother told his wife that with makeup on she looked like Jezebel and that under no circumstances was she allowed to get her ears pierced. Oh yes and her clothes were to cover her legs and chest area. She bought a dress once and tried it on for him, she was soo excited over this dress. She walked into our lounge to show him and his remark was this ''i don't like it, it's tight on your hips and makes you look hippy. Take it back! Well DUH shes a women with curves!

So in my experience Jdubs DO NOT treat women as equals.

Disfellowshipping an 80 year old man, with brain cancer, for swearing!

this happened many years ago in my old congregation.. the man, who held the position of a ministerial servant for many years had not long lost his wife in death.. obviously, tensions and the general heartbreak of what happened to him lasted for sometime.

i remember going to see him once and he was extremely depressed.. however, his son had recently moved back in with him and they had started arguing.

his son grassed on him in to the elders that his father had sworn at him in a number of arguments and he was removed as a ms. the rest is history.

The elders will D'fed anyone they don't like. The old P.O in my old cong was notorious for disfellowshipping ones who blinked incorrectly. He ruled the congregation with an iron fist. Carrot was always in the back room being accused of something. The P.O wanted him out. When he first came to power he D'fed 3 people in the first month..............

What is the big plan for the Great Day?

i've been away from the borg for many years now.

the only information i have about new light/doctrine change/flip flops is from this board.

so i'm hoping you can help me with a couple of questions i've had since i was a kid.. does the wtbts have a plan for what the jws are supposed to do while the battle of armaggedon is being fought?.

I heard a rumour a few years back about how Bethell were writing a handbook on how to survive the tribulation! Lol!

There is an elders wife in my old cong who told me years ago how she can't wait to go around knocking doors to tell people they are going to die and its too late for them. They have been judged! I was speechless, so i asked her where she got that info from. She said an awake, so i searched the date she gave me and i found nothing! I swear a lot of it is invented in their twisted little minds!

I remember being told when the great A started we would have to get to the kingdom halls and were were not to help any non jdubs. Even if they were begging us to take their children so they could be saved. We would have to lock them out and ignore the screams....... SICK SICK SICK! My hands are shaking as i type this! Not a nice thought thinking your unbelieving sister is going to be eaten by birds either........

Who does the H. Spirit indwell according to the Watchtower?

i've spoken with a number of jw's in the past who have told me that they believe the h. spirit only indwells the 144,000 (obviously contradicted by romans 8:8-9).

however, the jw i am presently trying to convert caught me a little off guard by telling me he was unaware of this doctrine (he's been a jw for 40-years) and that he understood it to be that all believers are indwelt by the h. spirit.

is he simply misinformed about his own organisations teachings here?

Well, I Guess There IS One Good Thing About the WTBTS...

if you're the kind of person who would rather convince yourself that someone isn't "deserving" of your help... which may include your money... even an amount as small as $3.00... the wtbts was the right group to be a part of.

because they have every excuse under the sun for not giving to the poor... not helping out someone in need... not even giving a hungry one a meal (because we know, don't we, that every one of them is an alcoholic and/or drug addict... and everyone knows... particularly the wtbts... that those folks... those sinners... don't deserve to eat at all...).

looks like some of have learned well from them.
