i remember the good old days back in the 80's, when i was but a tiny tot, and folks used to stand outside the convention with megaphones and shout and try to hand out apostate literature.. now that i'm older, it sounds like fun.

I never saw any protesters while I was a witness. If there was a group going to protest I'd want to join in. When I was a JW it probably woudn't have influenced me unless I knew that former brother or sister but I think it would be kindof fun to do and who knows it could affect someone.

remember how embarrassing it was to show up at someone's door on a holiday?when i was a teenager i went out with a very zealous pioneer sister on christmas day.we worked an upscale neighborhood of town and of course all the servants were off so they would answer the door themselves.i rang one doorbell and a lady came to the door and i could see her family inside sitting in chairs in a circle opening gifts.they all looked at me to see who in the world was calling on christmas,i suppose.i gave my presentation with a red face and she just looked at me and said"don't you know today is christmas?
"how embarrassing is that?so glad i don't have to do that anymore.
I only went once on a holiday and that was memorial day to the cemetary. It was awkward. I felt intrusive. I never even considered going on Christmas. Too many people would be home and I would for sure have to talk ! It also seemed rude.

out in feild service many years ago a freind of mine was at the .
door with a middle aged mentally challanged guy from the hall,.

I never had any really funny field service moments but I did hear of one from a friend. She was at the door with a sister who was older and a bit eccentric. This sister was giving her presentation when all of the sudden she let out a very LOUD fart. She didn't excuse herself and kept talking. Poor thing !!!! She was probably too embarassed. lol

i've talked to a couple of them about my doubts, etc.

I left a year and a half ago. At first I had spiritual need to replace the org but I could see faults in every religion .So I didn't attend join another religion. I prayed alot but I wasn't quite sure who I was praying to. Is it Jehovah or Jesus or some other being or perhaps there is no God. After a while the need to worship lessened. Perhaps its a bad thing but it was really a relief. I don't feel guilty for not going to church or the kingdom hall. The org pushes the thought that everyone has a spiritual need to worship. I have found since I've left that the NEED lessens ..... even goes away. Whats really cool is when you just WANT to worship or pray rather than have a NEED. I wonder if the need is really just guilt that has been planted by the org. Give it time !!! jurs
i have been reading about the witnesses for some time - but the information i read is always massively biased against.
it is even hard to tell if this web site is exclusively designed for aggrieved ex-witnesses.
i am at a loss here.

The JW religion completely controls every aspect of your life. You sacrifice and give up so much because of the bind trust that you've given the org. Once you wake up and realize that it wasn't Jehovah's org. but a New York based cult. I personally felt robbed of years wasted and devastated by a sudden lack of foundation. Sorry couldn't limit it to 1 sentence!

i atended a condemned kingdom hall for a long time as a child, it looked like a shack where you would raise chickens.. i was condemned at lest four times that i know of for being so unsightly in the area.
the elders at the time would say we will have a weed digging gathering saturday can the sisters bring some food, and refreshments, so i remember going and one or two old brothers would show up and pull about fifteen weeds and go home.
what a joke, to grow up with.
I hope you also found it to be a privledge as well as being fun !

hey everyone.i know im in trouble now deep deep shit !i went to my highschool football game last night,its like the biggest game of the year,well yall all know im a witness and im baptized.i meant up with some of my friends from school and the guy i like and his friends.we walked around and talked and you know goofed off,me and him went to his friends car,we ended up having sex.omg i cant believe i actually did this,but we used protection.only thing is i feel kinda bad but then i dont,whats the deal,im think im going to get disfellowedshipped oh well.please anyone help me!!!

I'm glad you used protection !!! If you continue to have sex , Be Smart!! I was a year younger than you my first time. I never had any emotional hangups about it. Then again I wasn't a JW when I was a teen. I wouldn't advise telling the elders. If you later decide that you didn't make a good decision , thats ok... Chalk it up to a learning experience and wait until the time is right for you. There is nothing wrong in waiting . ( the mom in me is coming out) .

why do the jw's still acknowledge the months of the year and the days of the week.
i recall from my elementary school classes that the months of the year and the days of the week were named after roman gods and goddesses.
the watchtower preaches that a good christian will not partake in anything that has pagan origins.

I cant answer your question. When I was a JW no one ever asked me hard hitting questions. As far as the article on cros country skiing...........that is sooooo JWish. They can find something wrong with just about anything !! I knew a family who DISCOURAGED (and bragged about it) their kids from READING any books that weren't from the organization. They said it was a waste of time that could be better spent reading spiritual material. No Nancy Drew, No Dr. Seuss No Nothing...EXCEPT My Book Of Bible Stories.....
