.

Necessary Family Business (NFB) is now acceptable according to the weekly WT Study
by Quarterback induring the last decade i've seen so many articles, and top speakers try to downplay that nfb policy.
now, this weeks wt study mentions a positive experience of someone applying having, "contact and applying nfb with a df relative".

Note how it says that they felt like he had died (& probably treated him like he was dead) "forcing" him to come back...Its common knowledge that "absolutely necessary family business" is nothing but contacting DFd ones when there are financial problems or deaths in the family. Nothing more. I don't see anything positive in this at all. Just the same old reinforcement of the shunning policy -

What is it going to take for her to wake up? 2016 convention was the biggest display of B.I.T.E
by goingthruthemotions inso i went to the convention this past weekend.

So my parents shun my two other siblings because they no longer want to be JWs. The only time my Dad ever talks to me is when he's spouting JW nonsense to try to "save me". Basically, they love the concept of living forever more than they love any of their kids. Some parents give their lives for their children's. Not JWs they rather chase the vague concept of life in the new system than have any relationship with their only "non believing" children...sickening really

Do JWs believe they will be the only people saved at the "end"?
by LaurenM inthe answer posted on jw.org: "no.
many millions who lived in centuries past and who weren’t jehovah’s witnesses will have an opportunity for salvation.
additionally, many now living may yet begin to serve god, and they too will gain salvation.

The answer posted on JW.org: "No. Many millions who lived in centuries past and who weren’t Jehovah’s Witnesses will have an opportunity for salvation. Additionally, many now living may yet begin to serve God, and they too will gain salvation. In any case, it’s not our job to judge who will or won’t be saved. That assignment rests squarely in Jesus’ hands."
This seems to indicate that if you "serve God" (any God??) you will be saved, but it's not up to us to decide...so my question is, why is it that if you tell the elders you no longer want to be a JW, you get DF'd (or DA'd)??? Even if I said that I still wanted to serve God and would just be going to another church so as to "not forsake the gathering together" I'd be DF'd right??..I'm a born in JW, but I'm confused. I've never got a clear answer to this question and its one of the main reasons why I'm fading.

Single Sisters Over A Certain Age Group Getting A Bad Rap
by HiddlesWife ini'm new here; one of my relatives was a member on this forum a few years ago and told me about it.
anyways, as a sister who has been in the org since childhood and now in her late 40's (plus as a woman of color), i have noticed that a number of brothers have an ageist attitude.
they are very accepting of young women under 26 and rejecting women over that age, particularly those in their 30's and over.. is this an unspoken mindset from wthq (specifically from bethel), or is it that quite a number of males (sorry, i'm not sexist here) have this type of mentality?

I think the problem is that in the JW world, a female is considered "successful" and happy only if she gets married. She is considered unhappy and miserable and pitied if she is single. This is absolutely ridiculous. Happiness does not depend on ones marital status. Happiness comes from within. Being with someone else can bring you happiness or sadness depending on ones state of mind. That's why so many JW marriages are miserable.

@ttdtt Because he said, "Most of Jw's children, and that includes elder's children as well, are seeking for higher education."

Why?? For family?...Also, it makes me sad that they're promoting college now. I turned down a full scholarship because of them. And that was only three years ago! The stupid doctrine changes makes me sick!!

How do you deal with depression?
by BlackWolf ini'm currently going through a bout of depression and my eating disorder has gotten worse.
ever since my parents actually told me that they are going to kick me out when i turn 18 i've felt kind of hopeless about my life.
my parents won't take me to the doctor because the psychiatrists won't have my "best interests" aka jw crap in mind, because really that's the root of all my problems.. i'm wondering if any of you guys have any advice with dealing with depression?

Being a Socially Inept ex-JW

i had barely any friends at all growing up a jw kid & absolutely no interaction with "worldly" people or any guys whatsoever.
i have had a relationship of sorts with a guy for 4.5 months now, but i'm so clueless!

Thanks everyone for your input! Informative and encouraging like always!! And yes, I was going through a rough patch, but am doing better. I think this transition is certainly a difficult journey, but not an impossible one, especially with forums like these :)

So I'm absolutely clueless concerning relationships. I had barely any friends at all growing up a JW kid & absolutely NO interaction with "worldly" people or any guys whatsoever.
I have had a relationship of sorts with a guy for 4.5 months now, but I'm so clueless! Am I calling him too much or too little? Am I being too clingy or too distant? How do relationships work? How do relationships work? How do people stay together?
I have this fear that this will end because that's what I've always been told: "worldly guys will use you and loose you" so I keep almost breaking up with him, just to speed it along..I might still do it.
It makes me incredibly depressed, but I think I'm just better off alone. It is WAY too stressful trying to figure out how to interact normally with other people--"worldly" people--especially romantically, when you are a socially awkward child-like idiot...has anyone else suffered from being socially isolated as a JW?
