Chatrooms--How Can I Avoid The Dangers? 10/22/05 Awake Highlights
by blondie incuriosity might prompt you to viisit a chat room that claims to be a place where witness youths from around the world can make new friends.. harbor insidious dangers for christians.
some of these people started disparaging our beliefs..they were really apostates..deliberately tried to undermine the morals.
false brothers.

Hah! I've had a look at some 'jw' chat groups & they are usually just full of young dubs talking about 'Jehovah' ... Sickening ...
Although I agree with the article, open communication can lead to apostasy [thank God]

Do Must Dubs Have Pre-Marital Sex?
by tall penguin init's not often talked about but in my experience a lot of witnesses have sex (or something like it) during their courtship.
and most of them never go to the elders about it.
recent case in point: my dear friend got married this past summer.

The only ones I grew up with that didn't have sex were so unattractive they couldn't get laid in a whorehouse with a handful of hundred dollar bills.
Oh really?! Maybe they actually believed the crap they were being fed - I know none of my friends ever had pre-m sex and I never did and we are all beautiful, sexy, gorgeous girls!!! Sad thing is, most of my friends are still unmarried dubs because there is a man shortage in congs around here, and most dub guys are not interested in any woman with a head on her shoulders.

I would give almost anything to get an email like that from my ex-best friend. As it is, she has told me never to contact her again unless I start doin' the dub-dance. You're very lucky, and I would invite her over for dinner, too, although that might be pushing it a bit far. Your email back was great.

I'm finally doing it!
by seattleniceguy inwell, it's hard to believe, but i'm finally ready to go on my world travels that i've been planning for so long.
seriously, i've been trying to get out of here since way back in my witness days, at least four or five years.
finally, i've gotten everything lined up, all the loose ends tied - i am on my way.. i leave this thursday for my first leg: 3 months in japan!

Welcome to the board tsfm!
I know what you mean. I feel like I'm 6 years behind in education & I'll always be 6 years behind, as well as all the horrible years as a Witness kid. No friends, no sport, no outside activities, having to be different, no education prospects, constant paranoia, depression, suicidal thoughts, immature adulthood ... I still haven't travelled, only just finished degree, and got pregnant & married too 'young'.
My parents became dubs when I was 7, so I remember life before ... and it was sweet ...

So you used to be...
by onacruse inwhen i stubbed my toe last night and characterized a long-time poster here as still being an elder (for which i apologize), and then this morning, reflecting on the meaning of that, the question came to me:.
what does it matter?.
there have been so many "persons of authority"-- ministerial servants, elders, bethelites, even district overseers (as i've heard)-- who have posted, and continue to post, on this discussion board.

Maybe those who rose through the ranks are the biggest fools of all?! I myself, gender issue aside, am ashamed that I didn't leave until I was 24 and an aux pio. I wouldn't be able to look at myself if I'd actually made it to the platform or other positions of (laughable) 'responsibilities'. Don't look for respect here, folks ...
