i'm in ch 9 in my study, and we will go over the section "major developments of the last days" (pars 6-9) next week.
although i don't see anything special in pars 7-9, i think par 6 allows the jw's to strike a chord with people, and i was wondering if anyone could help me with how to respond to it.
they are able to quote real figures in that paragraph such as "three times as many people fell victim to war in [the 20th] century as in all the wars from the first century ad to 1899.".
A blatant society lie. There were many more war related deaths before 1914 than after. Not too mention plagues in the middle ages were terrible, much worse than anything we have ever experienced after 1914. There is also no increase in earthquakes. Famines were also much deadlier before 1914.

Wait till you see the scrolls where each publisher reports their hours monthly to the body of elders that is leading their local congregation. And you also haven't seen the do-not-call-scrolls. Yes the early christians must have been crazy rich to be able to pay for scribes and scrolls. They probably also taught the householders of that time how to read, since most couldn't. had a quick look at the april km - they are having (yet) another invitation campaign to the convention.
slight twist though , in that any invitations not used are to be taken to the convention & used in informal witnessing.. traditional "convention reminders" insert - usual stuff about "jehovah arranging the program" , get early to the stadium , tip restaurant staff , don't make a scene at hotel reception desks if they have messed up your booking , no peeing in the hotel pool etc.

and they finally turned up.. i lead the discussion towards holy spirt and personal relationship with god.
(personal relationship with god is really about interacting with the father, jesus & the spirit, not just the spirit - but i think emphasising spirit is a simple way to get across my point) i was curious about whether or not they had one.

It shows a bible quiz where both contestants are always right, but not in agreement with eachother. Only possible with faith!
i ask because i've been posting at jwd/jwn for 10 years now.
i was a rapidly fading jw when i started but still considered myself a christian for a good few years more.
now i've embraced reason and rejected faith i'm a very happy atheist and enjoy learning more about the fact of evolution.. what about you?.
