He's very busy dragging the sun along the sky everyday. Do you know how heavy the sun is? 2 × 10 30 kilograms. Now can you imagine lifting that up every morning just so people don't have to be in the dark? For 98 years in a row? Jesus never gets a day off either. You just have no appreciation for him, do you?

Armageddon is coming ... for the WTS
by mP inis it just me or are we seeing the armageddon or the end of the wts ?
they seem to be reducing the size and publising of the a!
mags something that must shock many believers.

Maybe they're not shocking the dubbies, but they are losing grip with changes like cancelling the bookstudy arrangement, halving the magazines and shortening pioneer hour requirements. The less treadmilling the dubbies are doing, the less brainwashed they get.
Also their restrictive stance on facebook is training the young dubs to ignore what is being preached and sets a bad precedence for them.

How the house of cards comes crashing down, in the WTS' own words.
by poopsiecakes in"rejecting or trivializing the genesis account about adam and eve creates a domino effect that undermines nearly every major teaching in the bible!
such a way of thinking leads to a host of unanswered questions and a faith with nothing to stand on.".
footnote: "these include teachings about gods sovereignty, human integrity, good and evil, free will, the condition of the dead, marriage, the promised messiah, a paradise earth, gods kingdom, and many others.".

There are more problems with the ransom sacrifice. Two wrongs don't make a right, why would God demand his son's death because someone else made a mistake? Why does he make others suffer because two people made a mistake? Why doesn't God allow the first to human beings to make mistakes without a death penalty on the first one they make?
It's like giving a bunch of toddlers a gun and waiting for one to pull the trigger.
If it's a ransom sacrifice, who is demanding the ransom? God is. Why does he demand the ransom? He's a hostage-taker. Do you want to serve someone like that?

Apparently they are really milking Spain, I know of another congregation who had a kingdom hall in a high value centre location in a big city in southern spain, they were forced to sell it by the WTS and had to move in with another congregation.

The Movie 'Doubt'
by the-illuminator81 insaw this movie last week with meryl streep and amy adams and thought it was great.
it's about a catholic school where the priest is suspected to have an unhealthy relationship with one of the boys.. btw, spoiler alert for the text below ;-).
apart from that whole storyline, which is of course of interest for ex-jws, there is another very moving moment at the end of the movie when the headsister (meryl streep) confesses to the other sister (amy adams).

Apart from that whole storyline, which is of course of interest for ex-JWs, there is another very moving moment at the end of the movie when the headsister (meryl streep) confesses to the other sister (amy adams). After much trouble the headsister finally was able to get rid of the priest to protect the boy. She forced the priest to apply for transfer.
Now you have to imagine that this nun is of course much like a JW with a big faith in God. She must've felt that she was doing God's will when she forced the priest to leave the school. But then she received the report that he was assigned to an even bigger school, even after she reported what she had seen to her superiors. So that's when she confesses to the other sister about having doubts, very large doubts, in tears.
I was very moved by this scene because this is exactly what I felt (although in an entirely different perspective with different cause). It was very therapeutic to see this in a movie. I even had the chance to tell my wife (who is still JW) why meryl streep was having doubts.
Another thing that this movie made clearer to me was that it seems that often the people leaving the WTS are the people who took the faith the most serious. I took being a JW a lot more serious than my wife, but I'm out and she's still in. In the movie, the biggest hardliner catholic (meryl streep) is the one with the biggest doubts.

You can hand off a problem to someone else in prayer, even though the other person (God) does nothing about your problem, you still feel better because it's no longer your problem.
When you believe God is real, it also has the effect of talking to someone else who you feel understands your problems, which results in a positive emotion.
Furthermore it helps to focus your mind on something, like meditation, which can have a positive effect and can also cement something into your subconscious mind so it will resurface later. Like praying fervently to stop eating cookies, and then when you want to stuff one in your mouth, you think "oh yeah.. no more cookies today."
It can also be a planning tool by telling God what you did today and what you plan to do tomorrow.
It can help you sleep because you clear your mind and get mentally ready for bed.
It can help you gain the confidence to tackle a problem because you feel that someone is supporting you.
It can heighten your appreciation of something like food because you are more focused and thankful than when you just start eating.
Summarizing, it can be very helpful and God is not required, but in the end you are only fooling yourself.

When I was born I was a redhead. And I was accepted into the Redheaded Brotherhood.
When I reached the age of 19, I decided to dye my hair blond. I was then thrown out of the brotherhood.
Over the years, my hair returned to it's natural red colour. When my hair was red again, I was accepted into the Redheaded Brotherhood again.
Clearly this is evidence that the Redheaded Brotherhood is blessed by Jehovah. I mean, what other organization consists solely out of redheaded men? Clearly, Jehovah recognized my dyed hair and instructed the leaders of the RB to throw me out. And then when my hair was finally ready, he guided me back to the RB and his Holy Spirit moved the leaders of the RB to let me in again.
I also like to point out that the RB is the reddest organization in the world.

When my parents-in-law had no place to stay and were out of money, they approached an elder to ask if they could stay in his house during his 3-week vacation that was coming up. They could, as long as they paid him 3000 USD in rent. Of course they could not afford it since they didn't even have enough to eat.
Two weeks later, the circuit overseer was offered a stay at the aforementioned elder's house for free, and the CO accepted the offer amidst a multitude of other brothers and sisters offering their homes to the CO, while my in-laws were offered nothing by the congregation.
Eventually my in-laws were invited to stay at a worldly couple's home that they didn't even know.
Need I say more?

Jehovah's Witnesses eat blood without thinking about it
by JW10581 inare jehovah's witnesses allowed to eat the widely used e120 or carmine that is made of insect blood.
it is the whole insect including its blood that is used and if you crush a living cochineal insect you will see its red blood color, i've seen that done on a program on bbc where they also refer to the red as the insect's blood.

Baltar I know in the US it is probably not like that but here in The Netherlands nobody really hunts and nobody wants to know if what they're eating is bled out or not.
