Evidently the WTS doesn't know the first thing about history.

If all South Koreans were JWs, there would be one unified Korea under Kim Jong-Il, with all the JWs in being tortured in his concentration camps.

May 22, 1969 Awake! promises "you will never grow old" - Creative Writing
by Mad Sweeney inthe year is 1969. faithful followers of the watchtower society are gearing up for the imminent end of the system of things just as they had been for the previous ninety years.
a young witness named andrew is trying to decide what to do with his life.
andrew is a smart kid and he has an entire lifetime ahead of him.

Too bad the 1969 Awake is not on the WTLib! Is there a similar quote that is included in the WTLib?

For non-believers: What evidence would it take for you to believe in 'god'?
by jay88 init all comes down to evidence (but funny how we tend not to accept the evidence that indicates that what be actually believe to be true might be wrong).. this is a statement made by nick in previous thread of his.. >>>>>>>>>>.
if the ot 'god' reappeared today, would that be evidence of 'god'?.

Hi Tammy,
I used to believe and I had the exact same experiences as you.. but eventually I realized that these thoughts and emotions are coming from myself and not from a God. And when you think about it, many other people in entirely different religions experience the exact same things. So that would make a poor qualifier for identifying the true God and/or religion and unreliable proof of an omnipotent being.
Even more so, after I stopped believing and became a full-blown apostate atheist, I still have the same thoughts and feelings that I once attributed to the holy spirit.

April 15th WT - WT Society says " Obeying Us is Same as Obeying God "
by flipper inthis is a non-study article in the witness only version of the april 15th titled " do you discern the evidence of god's guidance ?
" essentially in this article the alleged " faithful slave " is telling witnesses that to be approved to survive armageddon- they will have to recognize the " faithful & discreet slave's " authority in their lives.. notice these direct quotes from pg.
4 , " jesus christ is the assigned leader of the congregation.

You can liken the authority of the governing body with Tommy. Tommy is six years old, playing in a sandbox. He wants to have your shovel, but you don't want to give it to him. Tommy tells you that if you don't give him the shovel, his brother will come by and beat you up. You don't give him your shovel, because you don't believe him. Tommy keeps telling you that his brother is coming over real soon, any minute now. But you still don't give him your shovel. Tommy tells you that he sees his older brother coming right there around the corner... But you still don't believe him and hold on to your shovel. It wasn't his brother coming around the corner, it was someone else.
After a while you find out that Tommy doesn't even have an older brother.

Nuclear energy is a must, but we should close off older plants and replace them with newer, safer plants where there is passive security, so that in the event that all systems fail, the reactor shuts off automatically, and even in the event of a meltdown, there is no danger.
I still think that compared to other power generation technologies, nuclear energy is a lot safer.

"Something in the congregation is hindering the flow of Jehovah's holy spirit" - witch hunt JW style?
by slimboyfat inhas anyone else experienced something like this?.
in my mother-in-law's congregation a special pioneer was recently moved to the congregation and he gave a talk where he said he and the other elders felt there was a bad spirit in the congregation and there must be something going on that is preventing jehovah's holy spirit from operating properly.
but he didn't state explicity what the problem might be and now gossip is rife in the congregation about whether there might be a sinner or a traitor in their midst.. for many this is just the excuse they need to gossip and bad mouth others.

God's almighty holy spirit, powerful enough to create the entire universe, shape laws of nature, but when you are jerking off in the KH bathroom, it's powerless and the whole congregation is doomed.

They really are pooping their pants over these latest "signs"...
by undercover ini've seen a few threads/posts where some of y'all have heard from jw contacts and how they've stepped up their 'the end is close' rhetoric because of the earthquake/tsunami in japan.
i usually take those things with a grain of salt.
there's always some jw whose cheese has slipped that reads prophecy into every little thing that happens.

If we take Matthew 24 serious, then the end of days have been a reality for the entire history of mankind. And earthquakes even before man existed.

Present some evidence for evolution...
by Spade inthere's no evidence that can't be overturned and exposed as deception in the scientific community.
jehovah's witnesses don't stonewall any new findings.
we have degree regarding adaptation.

Nice post, until you start your own ramble.
One of your arguments is that after one of the salamanders evolved far enough so they are no longer able to interbreed, their evolution suddenly stops and that means that it isn't evolution? Can't really wrap my head around that one. Since the salamanders can simply breed with their own local relatives, it isn't destructive at all, they can just lead their normal salamandary lives like they used too. I'm sure they will slowly evolve further over the course of the next millions of years just like they did the previous millions of years. There is absolutely nothing to support your idea that they will not evolve any further.
Then you attack this example of speciation and macro-evolution for not being micro-evolution. That's just dumb. I'm sure when we give you an example of micro-evolution you will attack us again for it not being macro-evolution. Or you will drag abiogenesis into the discussion. Stick to one topic.

Are we losing members quicker than the WT ??
by wobble inreading a thread from just a few months ago, made me realise that a lot of people who used to be regular contributors here no longer do so.. i know that people have always moved on, as the anger and hurt get less, as the wt mind-set totally disappears, we feel the need to come here less and less, but because of the intelligence, insight, wit and wisdom of these people, the board is somewhat impoverished each time one of these moves on.. this is a plea to all who post now, and some who still read but don't post, please do not leave us entirely, the contributions on here are literally life-saving for many.
it is easy to get dangerously suicidal when the whole wt pack of cards falls down for you.. please do not become a stranger to us !.

Once you've had the same discussion about a subject 10 times, you tend to lose interest.. If you stay here long enough, I guess you just had them all. You may still lurk for the personal experiences but that's it.
