they seem determined to undermine the us democracy and shut the government down hurting employees and veterans.. what a despicable bunch, hope they get their asses kicked for what they are doing..
IMHO some threads on JWN seem to mimmich politics very well - Hyperbole, disagreements, and some concensus. The world would be much better if people listened to each other better and tried to understand each other's opinion/positions, instead of trying to win arguments.

Welcome Caupon, I'm sorry that your mother's cult persona is being sooo uncaring to you because you made a very intelligent choice not to serve a dangerous cult that uses BITE control techniques to victimizes JWs.
You will understand a lot more by reading Steve Hassan's books (i.e., "Combatting Cult Mind Control", "Releasing the Bonds: Empowering People to Think for Themselves", and (his latest book) "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults and Beliefs"), visiting his website www.freedomofmind.com, and watching videos on his website. If you don't have money to purchase Steve Hassan's books at least watch the following videos or checkout the books from a library near you: (2003) Steve Hassan explains SIA method to rescue a loved ones from unhealthy situations, NY Ethical Culture Society February 2013 (41:09), NY Ethical Culture Society 2010 (40:56).
The most important things that you can do are to make your plan(s) for what you want to accomplish in your life, do not allow your mother to pressure you to become baptised unless you are convinced that it is right for you, post on JWN to vent your frustrations about your mother and to help you to execute your plan, and to research the WTBTS as much as possible. Have you visited www.jwfacts.com, www.jwsurvey.org, www.freeminds2.org, www.watchtowerdocuments.com, and www.freedomofmind.com?
You are young and have the rest of your life to enjoy, even if for the next several years it will be very difficult for you because your mother's cult persona will try anything to pressure you to get baptised. Just remember that your mother has to persona's - her cult persona and her authentic persona who you love.

Hi LoveTTATT, Have you read Mt 7? It may give your GF some ideas to insert into her public talk about why their are so many religions. Jesus predicted that their would be many false prophes and therefore many religions because religions are made by men.

it was a perfect spring day, and a jazz band were playing in the mall near my work.
in front of the band, two watchtower literature carts stood in solidarity.
i could not work out who were the jws attending them.
H'mmmm, seems like the perfect opportunity to stick some labels on the inside of the WTBTS propaganda. How do labels with URL's like www.jwfacts.com, www.jwsurvey.org, www.freeminds2.org, or www.freedomofmind.com sound?
Do that a few times and JWs may stop using unattended carts.

" i respond... yeah, you know, the usuals... service, meeting, etc.... she tells me that she's doing a lot of service with my dad... i say, "great!"...
Hi ILoveTTATT, It sucks that the WTBTS uses BITE control to victimize JWs and hold family members hostage. Having written that please remember that the WTBTS is at fault and not you.
Just don't lie and use cult speak to help your mother. Remember that you are using FB to do FS, that you are witnessing to people (i.e., JWs), and that you love your parents. You can be honest. You don't have to disclose everything to your mom.

they picked the wrong hombre .

Hi jwfacts, As a JW the WTBTS lied to you for the WTBTS's benefit. The tooth fairy, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, etc. are just labels that help a child to fantasize about possibilities. As long as you just use the label without embellishing what a tooth fairy looks like and just talk about what a tooth fairy does, what is wrong with you being the tooth fairy because it is costing you money and is not robbing your son of anything.

Although I agree that dangerous cults will shun ex-members, I also feel that a religion should respect the rights of individuals above the image of an organization. If an organization like the Catholic Church does not protect its members from priests who victimize members to protect the image of the organization, the Catholic Church may not be a cult, but it is certainly a dangerous org.

KiddingMe - Does anyone know whether these books (more specifically, Combatting Cult Mind Control) have been made available via ebooks, kindle or some other electronic format?? If so, where? I haven't had success on Amazon.

Within the last 4 months I wrote to Steve Hassan about releasing CCMC in an electronic format and received a response that CCMC will be released the first part of 2014.
