  Black Friday Stampedes VS. District Convention Morning Gate Openings

  has anyone had a jw rant to them around christmas time about how "horrible" it is to be a "worldly" person at that time of year?.

  certian jws love to use the infamous black friday shopping riots that tend to occur as examples to back up this argument.

  now, while those incidents are indeed disgraceful, they are hardly isolated to the "world".. among my "priveliges" was to be an attendant at a few district conventions.

  Imagine, if you will, that you are a German soldier stationed in one of the concrete bunkers that overlook the advancing Allied troops. Only instead of a MG42, you're only equipment is a badge that reads "ATTENDANT" and a 2-way radio.

  This is actually a good description. I've seen this happen. It freaked me out the first time I saw it.

  JWs Celebrating Brithdays

  i keep hearing of more and more jws that are celebrating their birthdays or, doing "special days" for their children on the day of their birth.

  i'm sure this has always been done but what interests me is that many people aren't ashamed to admit it since they have used their own fully functioning minds to figure out that the society's birthday ban doesn't hold up.

  one young couple with two kids (he's an ms, she's an ex-pioneer who dropped off the list to tend to the kids) explained it to me this way.... "the happiest days of our lives include the births of our children.

  I don't know... around these parts, if you celebrate a birthday (with gifts, party, cake, candles, etc.), then you're heading for a JC. Franklin Massey, you must live in a very liberal area....

  the above mark twain quote made me think about some of the comments i heard this weekend during the watchtower study.

  several commentors alluded to the seeming ignorance of "wordly" people as regards bible knowledge.

  comments such as "people who go to churches don't know the bible like we do, so they may go to church and afterwards say that was a very good sermon.

  i saw there are over a billion children under the age of 10 on the earth today.

  (didn't research too hard - just googled it.

  Even if a JW could reach every person in the world with the WT's message, they wouldn't be able to spend more than a few seconds passing out a WT magazine. According to the WT, God would base his life/death decision upon the response...

  i am a housewife, and no one has knocked on my door to spread the "truth",not even on the weekends.

  question, has anyone experienced this... or has the preaching work slowed down?
