Local Elder advises Young woman to make up with abusive husband
by troubled mind injust never ceases to amaze me how things in the organization stay the same .
you would think by 2011 these guys could come up with something better than " makeup now ,you know jehovah hates a divorcing !
" ( but obviously he doesn't mind a woman being abused !

Women can't face the audience from platform? Is this in writing?
by InterestedOne ini just read the thread about women & men waking up etc.
and saw a post saying women can't face the audience from the platform.
i thought, hmm yeah, now that i think about it, they're always looking sideways, like toward the other woman in the role-playing, or if they're being interviewed, they look toward the guy at the podium.

I have seen sisters face the audience. Recently a sister did her talk pretending to be on the phone. She was alone on the stage, facing the audience, speaking into the phone. Someone in the audience pretended to be the other person, (with a mic) Has anyone else seen this kind of thing? It's not the first time here.

What is it with all the men waking up but the wives stay in? Why is it the opposite for me?
by Cadellin inthis is something i've thought about for a while now.
it seems like the same story on this board over and over--the husband, who also might be an elder, ms, etc.--starts having doubts and researching, aka miseryloveselders and franklin massey and others.
he starts to smell the coffee and realizes that this organization isn't what it claims to be.

I don't know why we are assuming that more men wake up than women. Perhaps many women don't need the reinforcment of apostate boards such as these. I find it difficult to believe that women don't "get it", but the men come to their senses. Frankly, most men I know just aren't that smart. Particularly JW men.

spoke to an old ex-jw friend , damaged goods ?
by man in black inwhen i was a witness i was good friends with a recently baptized guy who was always trying to reach out to help, run the microphones, work behind the counter with the literature, attendant at the assemblies, etc.. the big problem here was that he is a police office, has been one for over 30 years, so the org.
would not allow him to do anything exept clean the toilets during assemblies .
his wife and him divoriced ten years ago and he was df'ed.

I don't care at all if anyone attends my funeral. Hey, if I am lucky like my aunt, I'll enjoy good health and old age. Everyone she knew well was long dead when she passed away. I hope that happens for me!
I certainly don't want any witness funeral. No more propaganda....

Getting upset with children who cannot sit through the meetings.
by life is to short inok this thought came to me the other day.
i was thinking of the co who told me that he liked to see parents spank their children for not sitting still during the meetings.. i remember how hard it was to sit through two hours when i was four or five years old.
it was like forever.. i was thinking of comparing the hours that we have been alive to how long two hours is for a child.

I think it is unreasonable to expect small children to still quietly still and pretend to be listening to information that is way over their heads. You really can't compare it to school where the information is directed to them at an appropriate grade level. It's child abuse to then spank them for not behaving in the way an elder or a co wants. By the way, I think that Co is still around, or perhaps others just like him. One of my friends left the hall after witnessing such a thing. She was recently baptized, and she never came back.

Did you do very early morning field service?
by truthseeker inin my old congregation, there was a group of dubs who started field service at 4am - yes, that's 4 o'clock in the morning.
i went with them on a few occasions.. to be ready, you'd have to be up at least 3:30am to get washed and dressed and maybe get a bite to eat.. at 4am, our designated driver would show up along with a couple of sleepy eyed jws trying to "get their time in.
" many times we'd go pick up a jw only to find they forgot about service and overslept.. .

I never liked going out in service. I hardly ever did it. I hated getting up early to go to the hall. I frequently changed congregations just to have a Sunday afternoon meeting.
