i recall a jw telling me that.... "they" meaning scientists, had done study's on lions in zoo's and discovered that if they gave lions straw and grass to eat that the lions became very passive and no longer showed predator behavior??

now they never explained who "they" were, or were these "study's" had been done or why based on these study's lions are not now fed grass etc

has anyone else heard this for real?

At the time the Israelites returned to their homeland in 537 B.C.E., Jehovah evidently protected them from lions and other rapacious beasts along the way. (Isa 35:8-10) In the land itself lions and other predators doubtless had increased during the 70 years of its desolation. (Compare Ex 23:29.) But, evidently because of Jehovah’s watch care over his people, the Israelites and their domestic animals apparently did not fall prey to lions as had the foreign peoples whom the king of Assyria settled in the cities of Samaria. (2Ki 17:25, 26) Therefore, from the standpoint of the Israelites, the lion was, in effect, eating straw like a bull, that is, doing no harm to them or their domestic animals. (Isa 65:18, 19, 25) Under Messiah’s rulership, however, there comes to be a greater fulfillment of the restoration prophecies. Persons who may at one time have been of a beastly, animalistic, vicious disposition come to be at peace with more docile fellow humans and do not seek to do them harm or injury. Both in a literal and a figurative sense, peace will come to exist between lions and domestic animals.—Isa 11:1-6; see BEASTS, SYMBOLIC.

and i am wondering what the society's view on the un is as of late.

More "Elders" Doubt They Are Appointed By The "Holy Spirit"!

the study edition of the watchtower says the elders are appointed by jehovah's holy spirit.

it's confounding the society does not realize that more and more elders, do not accept this claim.

i have racked my brain, wondering how many brothers and sisters actually believe this, fall hook and sinker.

As in the first century, a small group of qualified men from among the anointed overseers now serve as the Governing Body, representing the composite faithful and discreet slave. Our Leader uses this Governing Body to appoint qualified men—whether spirit-anointed or not—as elders in the local congregations. In this regard, the holy spirit, which Jehovah has given Jesus authority to employ, plays a pivotal role. 90% of the Elders that I know are good guys, misguided yes but genuine in what they do. Totally agree though, Holy spirit simply can't be involved in the appointing of such men, servants either. Some as we know actually lie when asked those questions re past sins and child abuse. The Holy spirit would detect this?
