The Shepherd the Flock instructions addresses this issue in relation to Elders and MSs. Their actions are to be closely assessed to determine whether they should continue serving. This includes things like under what circumstances did they become bankrupt and their intent to remedy the problem.

blood - a different approach
by inbetween inas often discussed here and on other places, there are many good arguments against the wts blood policy.
basically the distinction between what is a component and what a fraction, is often , and right so, target of critisicm.
however, it can get confusing, especially when apologists like thirdwitness or standfirm argue for any spot of reasonableness in it.

Murray Smith said
The Mosaic law required violators who consumed blood in, say an emergency, to simply wash thier garments and remain ceremonially unclean till the evening. It was/is a symbolic reminder of who is the author and owner of life . . . not some "magic fluid" of itself.
Would anyone know where in the bible this is mentioned.
Excellant posts Inbetween and Murray Smith. I was going to say that that sort of reasoning should surely make a JW think but realize that would be a stupid statement as they are at the mercy of the GB.

Disfellowshipped for eating FATTY FOODS, BEING FAT, BAD DIET
by free2beme inheart desease is the leading cause of deaths in this country.
bad diets are leading to an ever increasing population of diabetic and fat children and adults.
if we keep this up, more and more people will be too sick to work or live a normal life.

Chocolate and coke (cola) have caffeine too and I know of people addicted to them. Not to mention prescription drugs.
They think they can keep things simple and the blood issue just proves how complicated things can become.

I leaned over, began to pat his hand and said, "I did not do this for you. God is here working through me to give you hope."
It is a bit of a strange story as her actions seem to be prompted by her college assignment. If she didn't do it for this person then imho she has missed the point of giving.
I agree with Mad Sweeny. We are responsible for our own actions and we can thank God for giving us our abilities and demonstrating how we should act.

Literature-Leaving Etiquette
by zoiks ina friend of mine is the tasting room manager at a local vineyard.
this weekend the vineyard hosted an anniversary party for a my-gosh-they-are-so-young-for-having-been-married-for-so-long couple.
while cleaning up after the party, the employees found numerous pieces of literature hidden in their magazine racks, and the 3-dvd set, "the bible - a book of fact & prophecy" hidden among their cds.

Proper etiquette would be to ask for permission to leave the material and this is what I had been told by JWs. The reasoning was that it is a sign of respect to the owner.

Blind Allegiance to G.B. supported by scripture?
by honorsthesis inhey everyone,.
i have been getting in on going debates with brothers in the congregation about the role of the governing body.

If someone is truly who they say they are, their arguments should convince people. An introductory English creative writing course could teach you to invent other characters more persuasively.
Watch, I will receive a bad grade from our self-designated instructor.
BOTR you seem to be doing your own instructing which is a pretty poor effort since you haven't got your facts right.

BOTR you mention disclaimers but you accused me of being a treasurer of some Republican Club. I find that offensive and would probably be even more offended if I was American but we don't have these clubs in Australia.
I understand your frustration with people posting under multiple user names and I don't agree with this myself but having been a member on another forum for a few years I understand this happens but if you examine posts closely and use some intelligent perception you can often work things out.
It would be more respectful of you to PM a member before making absurd claims, it is very childish and causes trouble when the claims are false. If you are a lawyer you should be the first to comprehend this.

Band on the Run - I am finding it difficult to work out what is going on here but I haven't been on this forum under any other names. There is another forum member called TheListener who I don't know and sent me a PM soon after I started posting and asked me to change my name.

European Court of Human Rights to hear JWs tax case against France
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://www.expatica.com/fr/news/french-news/europe-court-to-hear-jehovah-witness-tax-case-against-france_99836.html.
europe court to hear jehovah witness tax case against france 9-29-10. the european court of human rights said wednesday it had agreed to consider a case brought by the jehovah witness christian sect against the french government over taxation of donations.. in its request, the group alleged an infringement of the right to religious freedom saying the french government had tried to curtail its activities by demanding in may 1998 taxes on donations from its followers.. the sect said the move was an attempt to end the autonomy of religious communities.. french authorities say the donations were not raised from a religious source and so were subject to the same rules as other donations.. the 1998 demand was for 45 million euros (61 million dollars) at the time, but this amount had since reached 57.5 million euros, according to france.. it involves donations from 250,000 people over four years, an average amount of four euros per person a month between 1993 and 1996.. the court, based in the french city of strasbourg, however rejected a case of religious discrimination against the jehovah's witnesses.. .

On the basis of the information gathered during the audit, the association was issued with a formal notice to declare the donations it had received from 1993 to 1996. It refused to do so and asked to be granted the tax exemption applicable for donations and bequests
Refusing to provide information and having JWs protest on their behalf are shocking revelations.
