  My chat with 2 Dubs yesterday about UN membership

  i live close to a resonanbly busy street, 20 odd shops banks, a train station,a couple of cafes and coffee shops etc and usually see dubs doing street work close to the station and i'm now on nodding terms with an elder who is out most days of the week and have got close to recognizing most of the hard core of about a dozen of them , i was walking out of the cafe yesterday to be greeted by a couple of newbies i'd never seen before , a scruffy short dumpy man and a fairly well presented middle aged lady, i'll try and abridge the conversation as best as i can, we must have chatted for about 15 minutes and it was all in a good mannered style;.

  me " have you sold many of those this morning ?".

  jw guy " oh no we dont sell them we give them away for free" (like i didn't know that).

  They committed themselves to "educate the world about the aims and purposes of the UN....." This committment was not with God or from God, it was voluntary and they were serving the UN in meeting the requirements that the UN had placed on them. They allowed the UN to place those requirements on them. In other words they were serving this man made organization with all it's political objectives.

  page 8 of the latest wt (insider version) has a whole page dedicated to the question whether it is appropriate to sit next to a disfellowshipped child at meetings.. not sure how to paste this in, but check jw.org.

  perhaps someone can do this for me.. horrible, no words really on how pharisee like their cult grip and control has become!.

  first of all, without any shame they are talking about disfellowshipped minors.

  It is hard to understand why the JWs allow a df'd person to participate in their most sacred service, they aren't being thrown out of the congregation if they can still attend and yet the bible is clear about not associating with the wicked one. The Kingdom Hall is all about christian association and serving God as a group. The above quote goes some way in explaining why a disfellowshipped person is allowed to attend a religious service at the Kingdom Hall, that is, they view him as an unwanted intrusion.

  The hypocrysy displays itself again. The person is both an intruder and is not wanted there. However, in order to be reinstated that person must attend the meetings regularly for a period of time. So even though they are not wanted there they are actually wanted there in order to prove their sincerity.

  If only they took the time to understand what the bible has to say about association they might get their policies right.

  They can't be serious about discussing pornography with householders. What if you're a female witness and a male householder answers the door (or vice versa) and is there much point in discussing the issue with another female? Here's the sample presentation from the KM -

  What’s your opinion? [Allow for response.] Jesus said that we can determine whether something is good by the fruitage it produces.

  It also gives practical tips on how to break free from pornography.”

  I'm looking forward to the magazine and finding out exactly what fruitage is produced by pornography.

  How did the 1919 GB know they were chosen ?

  the present gb/fds claim a kind of apostolic succession going back to the now claimed first appearance of the fds in 1919.. i don't think anywhere is it made clear who made up the fds then, but let us go along with the fiction, (in reality we know only rutherford really ruled the roost) and assume there was a group of guys who were the fds, how did they know they were chosen as such ?.

  there obviously is nothing in the wt writings of the time as all this is noo lite, so, if they did not know their heaven appointed role, why would they carry it out, except by accident?

  and if so, how could they possibly produce "food at the proper time "?.

  You make a good point. If the master of a household is going away and appoints a person to take on extra responsibilities then that person has surely been told and knows when his duties begin. He would not have started fulfilling those new responsbilities beforehand because his master was already there to do them. It wasn't until the master had left that his new role began.

  Why do they call it the New World Translation?

  does anyone know why the watchtower named their bible the new world translation of the holy scriptures?

  it's been awhile since i have even had any of their books in my home, and most of the time i don't think about it.

  i don't know why, but when i think of that title, the phrase new world order keeps popping up in my mind..

  This is from an article about the New World Translation from the Watchtower 1950 9/15 pg 37

  "Through the Theocratic organization of his anointed witnesses he has been clearing up the Bible truth more and more and thus purifying their speech. So now they talk and live in harmony with the language of the approaching new world. And here, in this year of 1950, his providence brings forth this New World Translation of the Christian Greek Scriptures as a further purification of the speech of his people. He has graciously provided it as a further powerful means for turning to the peoples a “pure language”".

  Establishing the Premises Regarding "Jehovah's Channel"

  typically, when the topic of new light arises in discussions with a jw, it come about this way:.

  1. wt critic cites discarded doctrines or false prophecies to the jw in order to undermine his faith in the gb.. 2. jw counters by citing proverbs 4:18, saying that changes are fine because the light gets brighter and brighter.. 3. wt critic gets frustrated because any sort of nonsense can be overlooked via that type of thought-stopping "logic.".

  perhaps a better approach is to start by asking the jw to explain how the "jehovah's channel of communication" process works.

  i had the chance to speak with a circuit overseer, he was not my circuit overseer and it was my chance to get the offical party line why the watchtower joined the united nations.. .

  He has given a reason for their joining and most people that have done something wrong will have some reason or excuse -

  "The Watchtower joined the United Nations only to use their library." They also joined the United Nations so they could have access to all their real-time human rights rules and regulationsand to get the United Nations to help the brothers in countries like Eritrea and other unstable countries the United Nations could make more hospitablef or the Brotherhood!"

  This does not make it right and the question to him would be to ask whether joining was right and how would God have viewed their actions.
