Maybe the property did sell for market value, the whole congregation would know what it sold for.

I love the fact that the GB is becoming more visible. Why? Think micro expressions.
by Island Man inmicro expressions are involuntary facial expressions lasting for half a second or less.
these facial expressions mirror a person's true emotions and so provide a window into a person's feelings in response to a statement or question.
particular facial expressions correspond to particular emotions and the mappings are universal across cultures.

The GB men are not your average person, they already know how to play the game. They also want to convince every JW of what they are saying and would know how to stage act.
At a guess, I would doubt that microexpressins are apparent when a person is giving a prepared speech, especially one that he has written himself or put into his own words.
You raise the point of noting their expression when they are being asked a question and this would be a better way of analysing their expressions. Isn't it funny that they have never allowed this type of question and answer from the platform with the congregation. It's not as if there isn't enough time to allow for this. In a learning situation this type of dialogue is an excellant way of learning and more often than not a question asked by a member of the audience is something most of the audience are usually interested in knowing the answer to. It also draws the whole group together in a friendly way and makes them feel as if they are working together. But like door to door witnessing the GB are not interested in the best way of doing things.

Tread very carefully where your daughter is concerned. She is manipulating you by trying to get your sympathy and to side with her.
Sit down with your wife and ask her what is really upsetting her and you'd like to make things better for her. She probably feels like she has to deal with everything and you are not sharing the load with her (JW responsibilities) and this includes that possibly your daughter is not so interested in the religion. There's not much you can do about being a good JW just to make peace at home unless you feel so inclined but that won't do you any good mentally. Instead you'll need to deal with the behaviour in a more logical, down to earth way. For instance, in relation to your daughter ask her if your daughter's reaction was appropriate and what could have led to her bad feelings, discuss whether you both could have dealt with it differently.
Also ask her why it upset her so much that you didn't put your pledge slip in. This would be a good opportunity to tell her that you are not happy with the arrangement and that you feel that if/when you want to donate money you would rather do it from your heart rather than having your hand forced in providing a set amount.

Anyone have watchtower 15 july 1997 The investigative Judgement article?
by barry ini would like to see this artical being a former adventist the investigative judgement doctrine was generated after the dissapointment in 1844. from what i have read this artical by the wt also mentions sda scholars that have theological problems with the investigative judgement and many adventists don't believe it even though it is one of the sda main beliefs.

Seeing that the WTBTS felt it's own teachings are far superior to the SDA's, an offer to get their own scholars (cough, cough) together with the SDA's scholar's to nut it out would be far more appropriate than tearing their teachings down in their own publications.
It is refreshing to see that the SDA allow and even encourage discussion of their main teachings in a very open way, without disfellowshipping anyone.

Musings on recent things
by thedog1 injust some thoughts on all the recent things going on.
i'm still recovering from the whole donation arrangement thing.
was speaking to some relatives who are also jw's and they don't really get what is going on but sense in some way that things are not right.

It is very wrong of the organization to even suggest that pioneers should not return to care for their parents even though other JWs may be looking after them. That should be something for the parents and children to decide upon. They are using be judgement for a start.
Why would you then trust them to spend your money wisely?

Why Did the Governing Body Change Their Interpretation Of Matthew 24:45-47?
by Cameron_Don insome have wondered if "captives of a concept" had anything to do with why the governing body changed their interpretation of the most important scripture in their theology at their annual meeting on october 6, 2012.. this is because the book places great emphasis on the societys interpretation of matthew 24:45-47 and then holds them to it while examining the organizations history to make sure that went on in its history fits their interpretation.
this comparison is essential to the societys claim to being gods organization.. their previous interpretation came from their former most imminent bible scholar president frederick franzs in his "gods kingdom of a thousand years has approached.
" their history comes from their "jehovahs witnesses proclaimers of gods kingdom.".

I believe the change was made because they wanted to take away any authority from the anointed and place it only upon the Governing Body.
On another point, since they have changed their idea that they have not yet been appointed over all Christ's belongings means that they were acting with no authority for all those years up until their change of thought in 2012. That is, they believed they had all authority up until 2012 and as such, they would have been acting with this knowledge and yet they now agree that this had not yet been given to them.
So if Jesus had appointed them in 1919 to feed the flock then they went way beyond this appointment by claiming he appointed them over all his belongings as well. Would Jesus have appointed such a body if they were going to misunderstand their appointment? Would Jesus appoint such a body if they were going to act beyond the authority he bestowed upon them? Have they made a public and private apology to Jesus for believing they had more power and authority than they now have come to believe?
Who was it that corrected their error in thinking that they were no longer appointed over all Christ's belongings. Surely if it was Christ then he would have made this appointment clear to them on the initial appointment in 1919. If they have so easily misunderstood their appointment then anything they have said (or fed the flock) would be full of misunderstandings, which is in fact what we see.
They have made it self evident that their thinking was just 'man's thinking' and their was never any appointment of any kind. It is a wonderful thing that by their own teachings they prove themselves wrong.
