I watched it. It was a show my mother never missed. I remember the MC was always giving crying women his handkerchief. believe it was originally a radio program.
How about "You Asked For It" ?
when i was a kid back in the late 50's / early 60's (yes, i am very old, now let's move on) there was a television program that capitalised on the lives of miserable women.
it was my mom's favourie.
each day monday to friday there would be four women on the show, each with a sad story to tell.

this is a forum for fomer jehovah's witnesses.
that is a cult that drills into its members the concept that the political process is evil, delusional, selfish, greedy, and satanic.
it's fascinating to hear so many political naifs express themselves with such certainty and fervor.
This is a great thread. My congrats to Willy. His opening post is just about perfect and 3 pages of posts have proven it.
It has also been a terrific opportunity for Band to strut her C.V. before all us cretins. I am truly humbled.
Great post and a warning to all. You could be next. Behave yourselves and remember - beligerent assholes are often shunned by many groups. Doesn't make it right, but there it is.

who holds the world record for the most disfellowshipings [ an reinstatments] in a single life time?.
i knew of one poor person charleen moss (roy baty's sister) who did it seven times.
she was a classic damed if i do, damed if i don't.
A great gal named Wilma J-----, but the elders called her "warm hearted Wilma with the roll down pants". Nobody could stay mad at her for long because she was just a sweet, lusty lady. Don't know how many times she went through the revulving door.
i'm getting ready to launch an online store but have a few questions maybe some can help with.
the last thing i need to finish is the template.
i have someone ready to do this.
Lots of produce, meat, fresh baked goods, beer, water, wine, chocolate, etc. In other words, sell guns.
i am sitting here in my office doing my work and the theme for american beauty comes on my pandora.
i haven't seen that movie in ages, but it's theme almost put me in a trance.
i was overwhelmed with a somber feeling and still have it as i write this post.. great movies effect me greatly.
That's an interesting point, Sab. I go to movies to be entertained and if I leave with PTSD and a gloomy spirit I wish I'd stayed home. One film that comes to mind that I put in that category is "The Deer Hunter". Too heavy for just having a nice evening and a bag of popcorn.

I have seen similar (and worse) photos from just about every conflict that has occured since the invention of photography, including the Civil War. This is nothing new. It just reveals the naivete of many sheltered people who have an unrealistic understanding of the word "war".
have a look at the pictures of this youth.

Can a child under 18 sign a 30 yr mortgage? Of course not. But JW's will hold them to a lifetime contract based on an impulsive, pressured decision to get dunked as pre-teens. This is immoral and ultimately cruel. Baptized at 12 then DF'd at 16? Sick and hateful.
a lot of us spend a great deal of time on this board and elsewhere discussing the intricate doctrines of the .

Imagine a large theatre full of people. They sit staring at a curtain. A voice comes over the speakers and gives a warning.
"Ladies and Gentleman, when the curtain is drawn back you will see and hear things that will completely disrupt your lives. Some for the better and some for worse. Your family, indeed, even your marriage mate, may disown you and shun you if you act upon what you learn. You may have to confront your own past decisions and realize that those decisions can never be changed, only grieved over. Or, you may simply decide to be dishonest with your own heart and mind and know that you must live this way the rest of your life. If you are not prepared to face such heavy matters and you are reasonably content with your staus quo, then you should leave now".
The way I see it, more than half would leave rather than see behind the curtain. Then when the curtain was drawn open, half of those remaining (who had said to themselves, "I can handle this, bring it on") would close their eyes, plug their ears and grope for the exit when they realized that the warning was genuine.
Very few JW's will hold the organization's feet to the fire.
