  The JW motto when it comes to the Disfellowshipped ' "If you can't say anything bad about them don't say anything at all".

  I was fortunate enough to be "in their face" after my DF'ing. I started a company. My company name, which included my name and my partners "----- ---- & Associates" was on signs in front of high profile new commercial construction projects around town for months. The local newspaper did a profile on our company, including pictures, in the business section. We got more coverage when our company was selected to design and subcontract the huge kitchen for the new convention center in town. I must say the expression "the best revenge is living well" has some truth to it. A couple of local elders owned one of those auto detailing franchise shops. When I bought a flashy new sports car ('87 Toyota Supra Turbo) guess where I took it to have the windows tinted? The elder who I dealt with couldn't look me in the eye and looked like he was about to burst a blood vessel in his neck!

  Mr. Snowbird and I Are Reconciling

  we've agreed to compromise on our differences and support each other through the years we have left.. i'm seeing a psychiatrist today to deal with my difficulties that stem from a traumatic and tumultuous childhood.. he is willing to yield in his beliefs that a man should control everything and make all the decisions.. being a stubborn jamaican, i realize how hard that is for him.. we're going to renovate the house so that he has his own quarters.. that way, my boisterous g'kids won't work his nerves too badly.. just wanted to put it out there.. syl.

  Is the spring/summer weather in your area 'odd' this year?

  much of our spring was very cold, intermingled with the occasionally 'extreme' heat.

  so far summer [which started this week] is cooler than any i can recall, but extremely wet and high humidity.

  the entire house feels like a wet blanket.. the doom-sayer types are constantly remarking how this must mark 'something' if not the end.

  that's what i feel cult religions are doing to children.

  that's the absolute worst thing about the jehovah's witness religion and others like it.. kids raised in these cults are trying to grow up emotionally.

  the damage in childhood affects them as adults as they try to find their way in this world and in their relationships with others.. i felt the need to vent.... .

  I opened this thread assuming it was about abortion. Your point is valid, re. religous indoctrination that renders young people warped and ill prepared for real life.

  Holocaust would not be my first choice of words to describe religous brainwashing.

  The old chinese practice of foot binding young girls comes to mind. Horrible.

  Oregon - Coldest, wettest spring on record and summer is starting out 10 degrees below average (today is 65). I serviced the A/C , filters etc. two days ago and did a dry run. We're ready for summer but only the Faithful and Discreet slave knows when it will begin.

  Been where you are. The day after my DF letter was read my wife packed up the kids and went to her family for a few days. I let her work it out and I didn't try to talk 'apostasy' to her. The Watchtower and the elders did the job for me over time.

  A year and a half later she wrote her own DA letter.

  My fathers day -as a father

  i am a very fortunate father.

  5 children, 3 girls and 2 boys.. this is the personal note written inside the card from my youngest daughter, who just became a mother last july.. "things i love about you, dad.... i love that you always make me laugh and you're never too grown up to be silly.... i love that you never talked down to me and always made me feel smart.... most of all, i love that i get tp share you with my daughter and watch you make her giggle like you always did with me.. i love you, dad.. ---".

  forgive me this indulgence but i am a little emotional this eveing after talking to all my adult children today..

  Does the Governing Body (or past presidents) members have (or had to) have body guards?

  was watching a biography on the history channel about presidental securities and secrets, how the president is guarded just in case of an attack, an assaination attempt, etc.

  it got me to thinking about if any of the past or current gb members (or wt presidents) have ever had any death threats?

  do they have a specific plan for a gb member when they visit a city or country?

  I remember meeting an older brother at conventions during the late '50s early sixties when I was a kid. Can't recall his name at the moment but he was an old friend of my Grandads. A specimen of rock jawed manhood. Handsome guy, built like he was chiseled from granite. He had been a bodyguard for the Judge when he visited areas of the midwest, Texas, Oklahoma, etc.
