we tend to rock the boat even when we try not to. But I think this is a good warning not to allow frustration to bring matters to a head before you are ready to deal with it more effectively for yourselves.

these thoughts were inspired by a comment made on my very first post, in which i mentioned that while my husband and i have had our eyes opened regarding this religion were not ready to give up the friends and family just yet.

Has your anger turned to pity?
by journey-on ingetting through the tough steps toward real freedom from the wts involves a lot of work for some.
many, start out angry that their authentic lives were hampered by a high-control group of men posing as god's organization.
we feel robbed of something we can't quite put our finger on sometimes.

As for the OP, pity is a temporary emotion and holds no lasting value. Pity is a stepping stone to compassion.
-Sab
yes I was also thinking that there is a difference between pity and compassion but couldn't quite put my finger on it

It has been a long journey but I have arrived at ‘acceptance’ without blame or recrimination. I'd ultimately like be arrive at the above state of mind and remain in it because it is the most rewarding. I find I achieve a sort of live and let live attitude but then something bad happens around here amongst JWs that affects my family and people I know. xjws' experiences on JWN also keep the fires burning. ultimately though 'd like to arrive at a soley pitying/compassionate state.

hi what now? I'm really glad you joined.
It feels a bit hypocritical and I hate that, and one day when our son is older, I know we'll have to make a decision. Until then we're just hanging in there. Anyways ... it's nice to have a place like this, with so many other people who know what it's like. "Apostates" aren't nearly as terrible as the organization made them out to be. In time I hope you come to see that you are not being hypocritical but doing the best you can in the imprisoning circumstances that hem you and your family in. Jesus christ reserved the term hypocrite for religious leaders because they bound up heavy loads on people and were unwilling to lift a finger to help.

Reality exists in your brain
by Nickolas ini've just posted the following in another thread whose subject is supernatural experience, but it may deserve its own thread so i'll repost it here.
i don't believe in the supernatural but i do believe that people experience unexplained things.
where i differ from some people is that i perceive the unexplained things exist only in their brains and not in the physical world around them.. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.

Seems we're essentially on the same page, Terry (but in the interests of full disclosure, in a recent thread your name and mine were mentioned in the same sentence with the word "kooky".)
kooky= big dominating personalities that we dense ones must not disagree with because when we do we are really attacking your character and not your posts ;D
you can't have it both ways, my friends
crux
yup it is only a couple of bucks on amazon

@Curtains - Lucid dreaming is very much like day dreaming but much more vivid and real. More...uhhh...lucid. :P One of the methods for lucid dreaming actually makes use of day dreaming in a way. The idea is to mediate solely on the dream you wish to enter and with enough practice you can fall asleep into your day dream essentially thank you crux. I might suggest this to a friend of mine who has awful night terrors every couple of months.

I'm not sure if I have got this right
lucid dreaming while awake and during the day is akin to day dreaming?

I will go back and take a look at the thread sometime this week, but I don't recall it occurring as you suggest. Of course, I could be wrong and if so, will apologize. How's that? apology accepted and peace to you
there is no need to go back over that thread as I can anticipate what your explanation will be and would like to save you the bother.
I'll say now, though, because I have a feeling you will not listen -
to me the voice of your Lord and your voice are one and the same, I make no distinction between the two.
once again peace to you
