WTBTS & OSCE etc.

this link is from an official jw website, and i believe those interested in such connections should take a long and hard look at the russiand and other jw sites.

it seems they are more "open" as to admit, and not least - use - their un connections as a tool of the trade.. i have reasons to believe the wtbts will try to use as defence that "human right issues are non-political" - and as such say the un connection is really a non-issue.

I have reasons to believe the WTBTS will try to use as defence that "Human Right Issues are non-political" - and as such say the UN connection is really a non-issue. We've seen that already. It seems to be rather clear the connection was originally made to get access to the UN-libraries, as mentioned before on this site; but this later changed into a "phase 2", where they started using these connections in a broader sense.

I'd say using political tools to promote their own fortune, is political. I would also say that appearing in all these "Human Rights" organizations, to claim a right they don't at all want to give their own members.

at least in germany each congo "donates" his kingdom hall to the wtbts if the congo is dissolved (wich never happened yet, but the wtbts is well-prpared for a massive drop-out).. the assembly halls in germany where property of local corporations.

as they should be also "donated" to the wtbts if the local corporation would be dissolved since 2 years the halls belong directly to the watchtower.

(the wtbts gave orders to dissolve the owner-corporations...).

Same way in Norway. The congo sells their old KH, to build a new one. All the money goes to a fund, owned by the Watchtower. IF, it says in the legal papers, something should happen, all the funds of the Watchtower Norway should go to Brooklyn, which owns it all :))

I have the papers on Observer.

Then they build a new hall, and collects money from the members. The money they don't have, they borrow from the fund, and pay interest rates. The new Hall is normally (not always) donated to the Fund - and if not, the Watchtower has legal claims because of the loans. When the loans are payed, it's donated anyway.

To all interested in the UN/WTBTS threads:

there is a tremendous amount of information on those un/wtbts threads, so if someone has already covered this, i apologize.. away back on page 16 of the first thread, machislopp posted something thats been nagging at me.

he quoted an article in the guardian mentioning the top 25 recipients of foreign funds in india.

one paragraph included the wtbts.

As in everything else in the world - follow the money. It's a good journalistic rule - and if the Watchtower is into something, be assured there is money in it ine one end or the other.

Being accepted as a NGO has been used to get access to different forums, like the Helsinki Committee and others. This, in the next stage, makes it more easy to be acnowledged as a "Church" - which gives them enormous economical advantages. One year without that cost them 50 million dollars in France, remember!

So, this case should be investigated more. The story you mentioned was posted on the Watchtower Observer as well, and when we know the Watchtower is closing down congregations because they can't pay enough - they don't get "free" lit(t)erature, aso, it's a damned good reason for writing the journalist.

I'm in the process of researching the activities and background of a French NGO called AIDAFRIQUE. This NGO has provided humanitarian assistance in various African countries and Vietnam through a subsidiary NGO called AIDAFRIQUE AU VIET NAM. AIDAFRIQUE has previously assisted and been assisted by UNHCR, but is not a UNHCR Partner.
I would appreciate it if anyone with "any knowledge" of this NGO would provide such to me. I am particularly interested in knowing whether it is an approved NGO Partner of any UN department.

I'm a useless Apostate :(

i've been lurking here for a while now, posted a handful of times, but this board has had a profound effect on me.. i have just finished reading coc which i would never have even heard of if it wasn't for this board.. anyway, in light of everything i have learned here, i have been waiting expectantly for the next unsuspecting jw's to knock on my door, just so i can er, 'enlighten' them.. about 15 minutes ago, just that happened.

i answered a knock on my door to be confronted by two jw's.

one of them i remembered vaguely from a neighboring cong, and the other was someone i knew pretty well from my old cong.. so what did i do?

Useless? Gimme a break, you'r not useless! This is a quite normal reaction - and I can tell you about every person on this board have experienced more or less the same thing!

It's one thing planning what to do - feeling safe and confident. Something quite different when you are facing your fears - facing the challenge!

You just need some time, and everything will be just fine. Just don't give up! Naturally there will be someone that feels one should have done this or that - but facts are - we are all human. And as humans we have our strong and weak sides.

Don't be disappointed in yourself - you've got no reason for that. To be a real ass I can tell you it will probably happen again! Just as it happened again for most people on this board!

You're human, my friend. Stay that way!

Are normal Rank and File JW's criminals?

lots of jehovah's witnesses all over the world can be found in prisons all over the world, and the question is why.

these figures are from 1991 to 1998. interesting figures from england - because these were not in prison because of the military issue!.

I can't tell, metatron - but the British Authorities has listed these as JWs. They have not listed them as "having a JW mother" or anything like that.
