awsome letter. How did you master the courage to send it and did you actually include your name and cong? If so, you might get a visit from the elders.
Good for you though. Hopefully someone with a brain read it and started to think.
this is an exact copy of my letter to the watchtower.
it never recieved a reply (i did not include 'attn writing committee' in the address however).
please keep in mind that when i wrote this i had just started my intensive research into their beliefs/history, and despite my agressive tone i really did expect a satisfactory answer.

lady atheist.
my top ten grievances against the bible .
1. authority -- not -- it was compiled, copied, edited, codified and translated by men.
I also noted Paul's great influence in Christianity compared with the other 12 apostles, who except Peter aren't as present as I'd like them to be. (James and Jude weren't from the original 12 either). You also said: "It's undeniable that WT and many others have setup their legalistic framework of rules and regulations based upon (what may or may not be) Paul's writings."
Compared to how Jesus saw women and treated them (samaritan woman, martha & mary, mary magdalene), he gave them importance by revealing them information about his identity and resurrection.
Then we have a different view with Paul talking about women's subjection, women having to learn in silence, not being allowed to teach men, women being kept safe by childbearing, women having to cover their heads, etc. I was always a bit offended at these comments of his. Why did he have to remind women that: a) they were created for the sake of men, b) they sinned first, by being misled and consequently led man into sin? If Jesus' sacrifice covered all sins, why did he have to remind them of these things? Weren't they all bought with the same price, and called by Jesus as brothers/sisters to share his kingdom with him? Paul does come across as misogynistic kind of like Rutherford.
8. Speaking of Paul, Paul's role is a little too important in early Christianity. He never met Jesus, yet he supposedly explains Christianity with authority. He has a completely different message from Jesus' supposed words. A lot of Biblical inconsistency right there. Why should anyone believe anything he said? None of it was of a nature that couldn't have come from psychosis, imagination, or calculation. If he was divinely inspired, he could have set people straight about the Sun, for instance.

really funny. i loved the ending when he says he'll climb the ladder and who knows if he'll end up in the GB
in an effort to increase the praise and honor to jehovah and jesus christ at the time of the memorial, the governing body has arranged for a special period of increased activity during april 2011.
you will be pleased to learn that during april 2011, publishers who wish to serve as auxiliary pioneers may indicate on the application whether they will be working toward a 30-hour or 50-hour requirement for the month.
this is a special arrangement for the month of april 2011 only.
The letter was true. I had my meeting today (our Sun meetings are Sat), and after the WT "study" an elder read this exact letter, about the extra special arrangement.
After reading it the chairman said: "We truly have so much to do in the Lord's work". I found it funny because if there was so much work to do, the hours wouldn't be lowered.
It felt so special to be in the know, when everyone was really surprised. What can I say? Thank you, thank you yknot who posted this first and this entire forum.
i can't believe the amount of new posters this board is getting.
it seems as if every day there are at least 2 to 3.. if you are a new poster, what made you decide to stop lurking and start posting?
how many of us are there that have joined in the last year?.
I joined in Nov. 2010. I lurked only for a couple of days then became a member. This forum has helped me so much in finding information about JW history and doctrines. Also it's great being part of a community that understands where you're coming from, and where you're free to voice your opinions and concerns without censure or fear.
hi everyone, i have checked this site out every once in awhile as i was on my way out and as i found myself coming back more and more recently i decided i should probably become a member....
Welcome here AiAi!
i was listening to a guy on youtube, (21 crosscheck 21) and i thought he brought up a pretty valid point.
he says jws should stop preaching immediatly because according to them if i've never heard the "truth" then god would read my heart and i would be resurrected and given the chance to live forever.
so basicly if some idiot knocks on my door trying to tell me the "good news" and for whatever reason i slam the door in their face, i've just condemed myself to eternal nothingness, but if they never came to the door in the first place, i'd be ok, or at least given the chance to pet lions forever?
KK as a witness I often thought about this exact thing. How much better off people would be if I didn't give them the 'accurate knowledge of truth' and left it up to God to be the judge based on their heart condition. But then I thought of Jesus. He was the greatest teacher who ever lived, a perfect man. The Bible says that he preached to entire crowds, and his message could reach hearts. He extended the invitation to become his disciple to a rich young man, who even though had a good heart, ended up declining it for he loved his riches. Nevertheless, this man and countless of others who heard and received the message from Jesus and didn't become his disciples will get a second chance by resurrection, according to WT doctrine.
On the other hand, JW are imperfect people. Many lack Jesus' skills and his ability to read hearts. They don't even have the accurate knowledge of truth as they claim, because the 'faithful and discreet slave' has disseminated and supported many false teachings throughout these years.
Why then will someone who declined Jesus' message get a second chance, while someone who refused to hear my mechanically-learned Watchtower or Awake presentation on a Saturday morning won't?? By saying that a person's salvation hangs upon his reaction to the JW message, we're actually saying our preaching work is more relevant than that of Jesus. There's clearly a contradiction there.
my jw came over yesterday with a video she wanted to show me, i forget what it was called but it was about the history of the watchtower.normaly i don't have a problem discussing the bible with her, but i just could't sit through this bs video.
i already know the history of the watchtower,.
and it certianly isn't what this video was going to portray.
It's great that Bible studies these days can find out facts about the history and doctrines of JW thanks to Internet. Before you end your study, I suggest you show the lady actual quotes of changed teachings from wt publications. Use jwfacts.com and copy the actual quotes about 1914, 1925, 1975, 'superior authorities', 'this generation', etc and paste them into Word. Then print it out for her, maybe she wouldn't read printouts from an internet 'apostate' site. I know it might take some of your time, but they're just WT publications, so she should not object to reading them.
The reason why I say this is because some time ago (while I was still mentally inside the JW world), a girl I used to visit showed me a book written by an ex-JW. She'd read most of it and told me about the false prophecies and Deut 18: 20-22. I wasn't able to provide her with a satisfactory justification for them. I asked an elder in our hall how I was to answer someone in this kind of situation. He basically told me if someone had read this info, he/she is a lost cause and I shouldn't bother anymore.
Months later, I started doing my own research after finding out about the UN involvement and other issues. But what this person had the courage to show me left an impression on me, and certainly planted doubts in my mind.
If you care about the lady visiting you, please give it a try. You never know what the effects could be. She might thank you later. Or she's stick to the cult.
Also, now that you attended the KH once, you've given her 'hope' about you actually enjoying the meetings and maybe going another time. Tell her you're busy next time, or better simply say you already gave it a chance, but don't feel like attending again.
my son wants to say hi to everyone on the forum.
as one of the main drivers to us exiting the cult he is very excited about never going to a meeting again.. if i knew how to load pictures i would let you see his plan for christmas lights next year.
apparently we are having a sleigh with reigndeers.
Hi little cantleave! Nice to have you here along with your parents!
