So Jesus did not have a human father. That is why he did not inherit any sin.
Is that how that works? Cool so once we perfect this technology we'll have a bunch of little perfect people running around!
jesus lived in heaven as a spirit person before he came to earth.
god used him as his chief spokesman.
that is why jesus is called "the word.".
So Jesus did not have a human father. That is why he did not inherit any sin.
Is that how that works? Cool so once we perfect this technology we'll have a bunch of little perfect people running around!
i thought this would be easier to examine if written down:.
god's kingdom will soon come.
so we know that god's kingdom will soon come.. .
So according to most people this picture shows 5 generations:
1: A newborn child.
2: The infants mother standing on the left.
3: The grandmother sitting on the left
4: The great-grandmother standing on the right
5: The great-great grandmother sitting on the right holding the baby.
But according to this new overlapping generation thing, they are all ONE generation, and even after the great-great grandmother is long dead and this child has grown old and is 90, it'll still be the SAME generation.
So if a Bob is newly born in 1914 and lives for 100 years, and then Carl is born in 2014, Carl would be considered the same generation as Bob.
Meaning Carl could be born in 2014 and live for a hundred years and the Bob's generation had not passed away yet. So armageddon could come as late at 2114 or even later if people live over 100 years.
with the advances in digital communication, when will society move to paperless?.
nooks/kindles are making books obsolete.
computer/internet is making newsprint obsolete.
I can't stand kindles and tablets for reading, reading is NOT just about reading the letters it's a whole experience.
The smell of an old book, the feel of the pages, the different textures, so much more than "just reading".
I have this vision in my head of the day books were invented, there was probably some guy saying:
"Sure it's more convenient to be able to just flip to whichever section or 'page' you want but I still prefer to use my scrolls, I like the feeling of holding what I'm reading in both hands at arms length. And closing a book is just to gosh-darn quick, you're supposed to use the 5 minutes while you roll the scroll back up to THINK about what you read, not just slam it shut and move on."
And in several years when we can just download information directly into people's brains I'm sure there will be people all nostalgic about their nooks and kindles.
I'm not criticizing you psac, that's just the image that popped to mind and I thought it was funny.
is there really a god?
is there really a divine creator or did the universe around us just "evolve?
" what an incredible thought to even imagine that there could be a supernatural being so powerful as to create a universe.
Could the universe surrounding us have just "happened?"
Umm, could an omnipotent all-wise creature who is able to create a universe have just "happened"?
Could it be that all of the planets are aligned in perfect balance just by chance?
What do you mean by this? Perfect for what?
Could it be that the sun is a perfect distance from the earth by chance?
Yeah it could. When you consider that there is actually a bit of leeway on where you can put a planet around a sun for it to support life. And you have 100s of billions of galaxies, each with 100s of billions of stars, each with multiple planets. Odds are pretty good that some planets will be in a habitable zone around their star. So I'm gonna say: yeah it could happen by chance.
Even if we try to imagine there is no God, the universe around us is a constant testimony of God's presence, power and goodness.
Whether it's a testimony to gods presence or power is up for debate. But goodness? I'm not sure what universe you're living in but I'm gonna say 'no' to that one.
How big is the universe?
Really big.
Can the universe have an end?
Depends on what you mean by an end. Do you mean like if I were to hop in a spaceship and fly out really far would I eventually reach a spot where I couldn't go any farther? Like an invisible wall in a video game? No, that doesn't really match any of the evidence.
Some people say that the universe is expanding. The Bible teaches that the universe is a fixed size.
Well, if the bible taught that, it would be wrong. Since the universe is, in fact, expanding. I don't think the scripture you quoted would indicate that the universe is not expanding.
The bible also says that god knows how many hairs are on your head. Does that mean you're hair isn't still growing?
Lore
every now and then growing up a woman with the first name of guadalupe would come into my life.
this is a story of one of those times.. she was always refered to as a "friend of grandma's.
" that was why we were supposed to overlook the crazy things she did or at least i guessed that was the way it worked.
I like the big plastic tube slides that you can't fall out of, but can stop your heart when you touch anything metal afterwards.
i saw this episode when i was a little kid and it has stuck with me since and will so until i die.
i highly recommend taking the 42 minutes out of your life to watch it.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5djw1kzcki.

I love that episode! I have the music from this one on my mp3 player. (Not ripped from the episode, someone actually did an orchestrated version with strings and stuff.)
i was thinking about what the elders are trained to do versus what i personally would do if a minor confided in me that someone was molesting him/her.
i'm not sure what the ethically correct first response should be.
my first thought is to contact some kind of law enforcement that specializes in investigating situations like this with people experienced in getting to the truth of the matter.
I'm no expert so don't take my advice. But if a child confided in me that she was being molested I would:
1: Act like I trusted the child and believed that she was being abused. Even if I thought she was making it up.
2: Tell her that she was right to tell someone. (Although I'd rather she told someone other than ME since I'm not really in any position to do much.)
3: Let her know that I will do my best to protect her.
4: DON'T promise you won't tell anyone,
5: DON'T tell anyone other than the parents (If they are not the abuser) and the proper authorities (That does not include the elders.) - And by 'anyone' I mean 'anyone' cause if you tell your mom or your wife or your 'best friend' you may as well shout it from the rooftops. EVERYONE is gonna know.
6: Act as if the child is completely correct and telling the truth no matter what. If it turns out the child is lying or crazy, you won't get in trouble for doing the right thing.
7: Do a quick google search for how to report child abuse. Then do it.
8: Call my local police department and find out what I'm allowed to do. (Can I offer the child a safe place to stay? I dunno! Should I confront the abuser? I DUNNO!!!)
"the internet is the most important.
source of information about sex.
for chinese teenagers, as sex education at.
I haven't found any rhyme or reason to the Watching the World section.
I'm not sure if they quoted that to endorse it, or to show how immoral and backwards China is, or if they just quote random articles from real news sources so that the Awake seems more legit.
why did jesus, the mighty god, anxiously sweat blood as he neared the end of his task?
given all his experience as gods second in command (or god himself depending on what denomination) youd think the experience of dying horribly as a human should be no sweat right?
well according to the story that is as far away from the truth as humanly possible.. .
So his blood pressure was so high that the blood vessels near his sweat glands actually ruptured and hemorraged mixing sweat with blood. . . ?
Sounds like a pretty serious medical condition for a perfect guy.
do you remember the old jeff bridges film ''the last starman''?.
basic theme was an extra terestrial energy life transmogrified into a human and impregnated a woman with a seed that would become the savior of humanity.. hollywood is an old hand at using good v evil sort of messages that have ideoligical ties to the bible and the 'need' for mankind to be saved from themselves.. what gets me about this particular film is that the savior to come was there for all humanity.
no conditions were placed on how many from what nations could benefit, nor was salvation only for those who 'believed' or were smart enough to read visions or hidden messages etc.
How about sending your son into a pool of piranha to find and save those who are looking for a way to clear/safe waters - even knowing he's going to get shredded doing that saving.
First of all, if you can show me ONE father on the planet who would send his son to do something like that instead of going himself, I'll show a really crappy father.
Second that analogy only works if the father and the son are not omnipotent and the only way to save the people is by jumping into the piranha infested waters. Instead of, for example, magically teleporting the people to clear/safe waters or turning all the piranha into tadpoles.
Note that this applies to ALL those flawed analogies to explain why the Jesus' death was needed.
The father didn't have to hold a lever on a train track that killed his son; If he's omnipotent he can magically stop the train in its tracks.
The father doesn't have to let his son drown in order to save someone else; If he's omnipotent he could give them the ability to breath water.
How do you figure its not within God's power? Christ IS alive, in spirit. But I'm guessing you meant invincible in the flesh? I'm not sure how many times Jesus said that the flesh counts for nothing and that it is the spirit that matters. So while you might believe that this was a failure, that does not make it so.
Either it's REALLY a sacrifice or it's NOT really a sacrifice.
If it's really a sacrifice then any god worth a hoot would be able to come up with a better solution than sacrificing his son. ( When you consider that amost every day millions of NON-GODS find trivial solutions to petty produce-theif problems that don't involve killing their children. )
If it's not really a sacrifice then why all the drama about his death? If the flesh counts for nothing and the spirit is all that matters and Jesus is still alive in spirit. . . I really wish Christians would stop lying to me and telling me that Jesus died for my sins.
