today is the first time i was made aware of this actual elder body video.
it's training for how a co should handle elder's whose children decide to pursue further education.
When I was growing up, my Dad was proud to be part of a “Worldwide Body of True Christians”. He and my Mom were loyal JWs, but my mom was educated, and they sent me to college.
When I started hearing more and more anti-education rhetoric from the platform throughout the 90s, however, it got to the point where I’d say to myself, “if they keep this up, they’re gonna and up with a ‘Worldwide Body’ of morons…”

as far as public awareness, with regard to the jws, it was basically a big nothing burger.

I seem to recall Barb Anderson once suggesting a long time ago that Ted Jaracz had essentially doomed the Organization, but there was no follow-up elaboration (that I caught, anyway).
As a result, I couldn’t fully grasp what she was getting at at the time, but it’s pretty obvious now.

Yes, but not for the reasons you might think.
They’re trying to salvage their public image because their charity status is increasingly at risk in more and more countries, and all indications are that the Org’s business model is dependent on the tax-exemption (or government handouts) that come with it.

I used to scratch my head over that one… I mean, just how fucking hard is it to take a new group photo? 😄
Makes sense if they’re too paranoid to get together in one place at the same time, though… one unfortunate accent (or “accident”), and bam, the head of “God’s Earthly Organization” is gone (this is one of the reasons they left Brooklyn, BTW… 9-11 scared ‘em).
The Helpers and lawyers’d maybe try to keep the bailing buckets going, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

If the WTS is “under attack”, they’ve brought it on themselves. A self-fulfilling “prophecy” ain’t the real thing.
