I was having issues with some of the prophecies (it's a long story, perhaps I'll tell it here one day). I knew my views were wrong, and couldn't find a biblical resolution. So I decided to tackle something that I thought would be simple to defend, creation.

I started to research evolution, hoping to understand it so that I could find support for creation. My research proved to me that the bible is not what it purports to be. After further research on the New Testament, I was able to remove the power of the mythical forces from my life.

Cant get over this

i really can't get over that there are more than over 50 "gnostic" books that have every qualification that the other books in the new testament have and people won't consider them because it doesn't jive with "their" dogmas.

i really like the book of thomas.. i also consider paul the first big time hijacker of jesus intent..

Jesus taught that we must observe the Mosaic Law, according to the Sermon on the Mount. One letter of the law will not pass away before all these things occur.

However, Paul said not to worry about Sabbaths, and not to worry about circumcision. These are both central to the law, and obviously against what Jesus taught.

i was just looking at someone's parody jw channel and the person posed this very same question.

i'll admit i've thought about it but not too deeply.. so, does anyone know why "true worship" didn't exist for all that time until god decided to grant russell special powers to determine truth?.

Good question. I have another question that disturbed me. Here is a hypothetical situation.

Two people live very similar lives. They were both raised as JWs, and both left. They lived relatively good lives, as most people do. One of them gets cancer, and the other one does not. Armageddon is brewing on the horizon. Ten minutes before the big A hits, the cancer finally kills one of them, and shortly afterward, the second one is killed in Armageddon.

In the new order, the one that died of cancer gets a resurrection, while the Armageddon victim does not. All for just 10 minutes of time and a disease. Does this sound like justice to you?

if, as evolutionists claim, all of mankind evolved from the same primitive life-source, then how did we end up with 7,000 different languages?

did one gorilla get angry at another gorilla and decide to start a new language?

i'm intrigued to know.. .

You need to study the theory of evolution if you wish to try do disprove it. From your explanation about, it is apparent that you lack an understanding of what is involved in evolution.

Languages have evolved over time. We only need to see the change from Latin to French, Spanish and Italian to understand this. So the variety of languages is not due to angry gorillas, as you claimed, but due to the isolation of peoples who then, over time, develop new sounds. This is also an excellent analogy of the progress of evolution. A Latin speaker did not suddenly give birth to a Spanish speaking child, but rather the language changed gradually over time, generation after generation. The parents can always communicate with the children, but as the language changes, people adapt to new words or pronunciations.

Similarly, we can see that species did the same thing over vast amounts of time. They slowly changed, even though there was very little difference between parents and offspring. This is borne out by the fossil record, genetics, among other scientific fields.

Humans have only been around for 6000 years? I have a question...

of corse i know that we've been around much longer, i think it's more like 250,000. what i'm wondering , is it even possible to turn 2 people into almost 7billion, in that short period of time?

and during that time, two white, or probably some shade of brown people gradually became all the differnt races we have today?

that dosen't seem logical, i know jws aren't logical, but did this ever cross anyones mind while they were in this religion?.

I wish I had thought about those things while I was in. Perhaps I would have exited sooner.

Regarding dogs and their variation, there is a genetic variation that they have that allows their genes to be more easily molded. Humans do not possess that ability in their genetics.

People who believe that the biblical flood was an actual event have an issue that cannot be resolved. There is no way that all the species that we have on earth fit on the ark. So it is resolved by saying that 'kinds' of animals were put onto the ark, whatever that means. However, to explain the vast diversity of life on the planet, they then require "super-evolution," evolution much faster and radical than any scientist postulates.

Help w/ Bible Teach ch 9 section "Major Developments of the Last Days"

i'm in ch 9 in my study, and we will go over the section "major developments of the last days" (pars 6-9) next week.

although i don't see anything special in pars 7-9, i think par 6 allows the jw's to strike a chord with people, and i was wondering if anyone could help me with how to respond to it.

they are able to quote real figures in that paragraph such as "three times as many people fell victim to war in [the 20th] century as in all the wars from the first century ad to 1899.".

I forget what is in that chapter specifically.

Jesus said that by ALL THESE signs that you would know that the end is near. So far, they have only shown that ONE of these signs has changed. It goes to the olive tree illustration that he used, knowing when spring is to be near.

If the four horseman of the apocalypse are used, point out that the second last one is food shortages. However, the single biggest health issue facing the western world is OBESITY. It just doesn't add up.
