My old pioneer mom couldn't find time in her busy schedule to see my younger brother (not JW) who wanted to have her see his newborn grand son...You can't come on Tuesday because we have our meeting...I am out in service every morning...Thursday is grocery shopping day...His comment was that he is not about to start going out in service to be able to spend a little time with our mom...Then she complains he doesn't visit or even call her!

Prologos you mean "joual" which is slang for cheval...this perception of how québécois speak French has long disappeared.

Bravo Hortensia...one of the main difficulty in learning French is that every noun has a gender...le français, la lune, le soleil...it takes time to learn the gender of each noun. I'm from Montréal and I don't speak "habitant" as suggested by TS674, but French with a different accent than Parisien French. It's like English spoken in Boston differs from English spoken in Texas or New Jersey...The written language is exactly the same regardless. I'm sure if you inquire you will be able to find French speaking people in your area.

JWs are quick to point out crimes committed by persons of other religions but when it comes to crimes committed by members of the congregation, they shoot the messenger or say that such actions are very rare among JWs...Any criticism must surely come from Satan...it just couldn't be true because"mother" says it isn't. I would ask the elders if JWs should be judged the same way they judge other religions who were found to have paedophiles among their clergy members? If not, why not?

CO over for dinner Tuesday thru Friday
by A question inhas anyone had a co over for dinner during their visit on any of the nights from tuesday thru friday?
that seems hard to do because those nights usually have meetings.
if you did do it, how long were they able to stay after finishing eating?.

Long serving pioneer no longer has hours quota to stay on the list...
by NVR2L8 ina family member visited us this past weekend and said that my 80 years old mother was recently told she no longer has to meet the annual hour quota to remain on the pioneer list.
"what a loving provision from the brothers" were my sister's exact words.
"mom was so stressed out with having to get her hours in every month" are you freaking kidding me?

RO...my dad use to mess with them by not signing up for auxiliary pioneer and doing the hours...After the month elders would inquire as to why he didn't sign up. Dad would say that he was not sure he wanted to go out every day. You should sign up anyways the brothers would say as it is encouraging for the congregation.

"What a loving provision from the brothers" were my sister's exact words. "Mom was so stressed out with having to get her hours in every month" Are you freaking kidding me? For decades mom has struggled to meet their service requirements and now that she is worn out and tired they are lovingly providing relief? How indecent for any organization to guilt seniors in spending their last few years of life as unpaid slaves. The last time I saw mom all she could talk about was going out in service and how bad the world has become. My younger brother who never was a witness recently called mom to see if he could come over to show her his newly born grand son...unfortunately her service schedule couldn't accommodate the visit and my brother said he has no intention to become a publisher to be able to visit with mom....

We also had the DO stay with us for a week before the assembly. They were very nice and they shared one evening meal with us and went out to other homes for the other nights. The brother settled in my home office during the days while I was at work. On other occasions we had the CO have dinner with us on meeting night which was convenient for him since we lived close to the hall. One thing that bothered me is that most of them have special dietary needs...they can't just eat what everyone else do...I would never dare tell a host what to serve when he invites me!
