Any elders out there? How to Local needs talks work?
by Letts Party inso a local needs talk was lovingly given at our hall last week that i'm positive targeted me specifically.
it had to do with missing meetings for work.
they even had a demo on what we should do if our boss asks us to stay overtime on a meeting night (basically say "no" and risk losing your great job which you have no desire whatsoever to lose)... so i'm aware that there's a sort of protocol the elders follow when someone in the hall needs to work on something.

Letts Party,
In my congregation an elder would have approached you first to discuss your situation and to provide council. If the situation persisted or if several members were missing meetings because of work, there would be a local needs talk. In my case, I was a MS and missed several meetings due to business trips. When I told the elders I wanted to step down they offered to give me 6 months to settle matters. I told them travel was part of my work and I had no plan to change my career. They were reluctant to accept my resignation as a MS, especially because I was well liked by the brothers and reaching out...I already knew TTATT and this was my first step in fading out. In the past we had a CO who removed any servant who had shift work that would cause them to miss even one meeting a month. He made it clear that your job should never be more important than serving the WT.

Anyone know of df'ing for taking a br. to Court (esp. if Cdn)?
by berrygerry inmost jw's have been told that taking a fellow jw to court is wrong.. the shepherd book uses wts speak: "if an individual ignores god's word on this matter, it may affect his congregation privileges.
" (italics theirs.).
the following are from an interesting case in canada ( link ):.

Same here...JW elders not honoring contracts and the other party had to abdorb the loss and keep quiet about it. In one case 2 brothers lost their homes and life savings to another brother in good standing. It wasn't his first swindle but no one knew because he was never taken to court and if he was privately reproved, all is kept confidential.

It doesn't matter if you understand it or not. All you need is to believe you're in God's organization. How do you know you are in God's organization? The governing body tells you that you are: we are the only ones who preach, we are a united brotherhood, we don't go to war...God reveals his purpose through the GB...

Sell Sell and Sell off some more, the real reason for all the consolidation?
by Crazyguy inits becoming clear that the borg has plans to sell off as much property and kingdom halls as possible.
they will even make it a pain in the ass for believers to get to halls but they don't care!!!
they have seen the results of lawsuits against the catholic church in the 100 of millions of dollars.

They use to point out how other religions were selling off their churches as a sign that Babylon's waters were drying out due to a lack of support from dwindling membership...how will they spin it in their own case?

Meeting for not paying assembly fees???!!!!
by Kool Jo inhey folks......has anyone else heard of, or experienced this before?.
i visited by parents over the weekend and accompanied them to their assembly....same rubbish spoken about since ive been born....obey the gb, donate your last penny, no education and be a pushover.. anyways, our assembly hall has lush vegetation and scenery, so i was more focused on that....i started dozing off after lunch, so got up and went walking, saw some older folks from the congregation i grew up with.. upon the conclusion of the assembly, wed normally leave out right after the prayer ends so as to avoid the traffic.
however, for this assembly he told me that hes gonna be a few minutes with the elders and branch representatives...so a few minutes turned into an hour..

When I served as accounts servant I witnessed a few occurances when a wealthy servant or elder, including myself would make a donation to cover part of the "monthly deficit". In my case that ended when the elders decided to send any surplus to the WT instead of building a reserve to cover for the months when donations were low. I guess the same thing happens for assembly halls.

Late Friday night I drove by the local hall and there was a car parked with 2 brothers guarding on Halloween night. The hall is next door to a church and across a cemetery and a school. When I was active I was asked to guard the night before (supposively called prank night) and Halloween night. After our shift we even came back to sneak up on the two guys who replaced us...We did not count our time but we protected god's house from evil...

My daughter was raped by a JW who was engaged to be married to another sister. She told the elders who then communicated with the elders in the boy's congregation. He denied everything saying that my daughter was trying to break up his engagement because she was in love with him. The elders kept on asking my daughter if she was telling the truth. In the end they counseled her to be more active in service and to comment at least once every meeting. The boy's friends and her fiancee made phone threats...even her mother called and she actually believed my daughter. Still the couple was married at their Kingdom Hall. At that point my daughter disassociated herself. All of this went on unbeknownst to us who live 6 hours away. An elder from my daughter's congregation called me to tell me my daughter was disassociated. At that point I stopped communication with her as any good serving JW would do...One year later the boy confessed, was disfellowshiped and his wife divorced him. No apologies to my daughter from the elders. That's when I found out all that had been going on. I have since asked my daughter to forgive me for being such a poor father. Last year my daughter sent me a birthday card in which she expressed her love for me that made me cry as I never had before. Today we still live 6 hours away but we are closer than ever.

Welcome WideAwake. I'm looking forward reading your story. My wife is still active and a few weeks ago I saw an invitation to a wedding reception for two widowers from the congregation. I didn't say anything about it nor did my wife and I was happy she didn't. I still would have gone with her but I would have found it hard to face the JW fake smiles and phony love bombing. It's been 4 years since I left and except for no one person no one ever attempted to keep in touch with me...including ones who would embrace me at every meeting. I just couldn't bear have them attempting hugging me without saying anything. I have been left alone by the elders and I will not give anyone the false hope that I could return one day. But that's just me.
