  What is happening at QualComm Stadium (San Diego, CA) this weekend?

  the jehovah's witnesses have qualcomm stadium from june 11th to the 13th and the spanish jehovah's witnesses have it the 18th.

  what is going on?

  would there be any groups there that i could contact to join with or help me start an outreach to jehovah's witnesses?

  I would agree with the general statement that picketing a convention site may not be "very effective", if what you are looking for is instananeous deprogramings. I remember walking out of Dodger Stadium towards the bus stop at the bottom of Elysian Park Blvd., and looking at those signs. I saw one that had a phone number. I memorized it, and called it from work the next week. It began a process that took nearly five years to complete, but it started the ball rolling.

  I don't think that most of us that have left the Borg, woke up one fine morning and decided to chuck it all. It was a process. A process that perhaps was started by something as small as a phone number, or a slogan on someone's sign.

  The key thing to remember is yes these things can be effective, but the most effective way of getting people out of the Borg is to show them something they can't possibly have in the Borg. True and unconditional love. Love that says, "I'll be there for you, whether or not you come out of the Borg." That is how I maintain my circle of persons in the Borg. They know they can trust me, and that I am their friend even though they still choose to remain in the Borg becasue of the internal pressure.

  i went to my local coffee shop at 11:10am on saturday morning.

  not thinking that about 40 witnesses would be arriving.

  there i was standing in line, the two parties in front of me were taking forever.

  I can't remember the exact year, but I think some where around 1986-87. As if to imply that the mass defction was not due to people seeing the light, and making a decision, but rather because they were sexual deviants. How ironic, to me that it is not he sexual deviants that were truly purged, but rather encouraged to stay be the child-endangering policies of the GB.

  An average Americans view of the French people

  i have just returned from spending a week in the company of frenchbabyface, (fbf) and would like to share some basic observation that i feel will enlighten my fellow countrymen and women about a people we, as a culture, actually know very little about.

  i do believe the medias of both countries do not show their people an honest and forthright view of the other countries people.

  the american media gives us almost no news of france and most of what we do get is not very positive.

  The French think we worship President Bush, huh? How interesting. I guess that goes hand-in-hand with the typical American stereotype of a French person sitting on the patio of the local patesserie (sp?), drinking wine, smoking a cigarette, and telling the world, "F*** you, we are French, and you are not." A view that was reenforced by the comic genius Robin Williams, during his last HBO special.

  I think every country suffers from "media/educational black-out." Meaning every country seems to teach a "fill in the blank-centric" view of the world. What it comes down to is a form racism, for lack of a better term. However, what country would be servicing it's citizens by not focusing on its own history. Personally, I think that France is a great country, and Europe for that matter is a great continent, with lots to offer the world. Too bad they got caught in the middle of so much crap of the past 150 years. The U.S. is similar. The only difference being that the U.S. has been so detached from its European cousins (the Atlantic is a big pond to cross) only recently shortened by the events of Sept. 11, 2001.

  Maybe it's just time for all, and I do mean ALL, of us to lay down our national pride, and, in the words of a noted American street philospher, "...just get along." After, all aren't we all brothers and sisters in the same family (for those that do not believe in Adam and Eve, please insert appropriate analogy here )? Or maybe that's the wrong analogy, since brothers and sisters tend to fight with each other (being an only child, I have no clue other than watching my friends).

  One day, I will visit Europe. France will be on the itinerary. I hope to enjoy it as much as possible.

  How do most of you....

  handle being called on by jw's in service?

  do you try to 'show them the light' or just be polite, or even angry?

  also, i heard it rumored once that the local cong's kept a file on all 'apostates' in their territory and wouldn't let the publishers call on them for fear of them being 'turned'.

  The only times I get to deal with them is when I am waiting for the Metro going to and from work. My stop is half a block from the local King-dumb Hell, and they are always at that stop. I would love to dialoge with them except for one little fact. They are Spanish speaking, and this brown boy doesn't habla Espanol well enough to get into it with them.

  someone mentioned this in one of their posts and i had a flashback.

  i remember getting a w on one of my theocratic school talks when i was working on gesturing.

  the funny thing about it is that it was given to me by my dad!

  I got a "W" once in my entire talk "career."

  The TMS overseer's heretofore referenced as Bro. McDuff) wife and my mom (PO's wife) were feuding. My dad was acting as TMS overseer one Thursday while Bro. McDuff was at Bethel for a temporary assignment. Bro. McDuff's son was giving the Bible reading, and obviously need to work on something. So my dad gave him a "W" on whatever it was. Keep in mind that my dad is known thoughout Northern California, Southern California, and New Mexico as being impartial and fair.

  When Bro. McDuff got back from his temp assigment, I was asigned to give a No. 5 talk. Now, I had been giving talks since I was about seven (I was 17 at this time). I had gotten an A+ in Speech that same year in high school. I gave what I viewed as a very good talk, and infact nailed my TMS Guidebook point (Emphasis and Gestures). Well, Bro. McDuff gave me a "W". I was, to say the least, irritated.

  That night on the way home I told my dad that the only reason I got a "W" was because he (dad) had given "Snotty" McDuff a "W" previously. He said that may have been true, and then asked me what I wanted to do about it. I said that him (dad) and I should go visit Bro. McDuff, and explain our side, and then ask him that at the next TMS he publicly change my grade from a "W" to a "G". My dad said that having him do that publiclly was not right. I countered that since Bro. McDuff had injured me publiccly, and he should make ammends publicly. My dad still said no to that idea.

  I couple of days later, my dad came into my room and gave me a "revised" copy of my TMS sheet, with the "Emphasis and Gestures" covered with White-out and a "G" where the "W" was. He said my congregation copy had been fixed also. I just looked at my dad, and asked, "Why is it that we have to get walked all over on, and other Elders and their families can do whatever they want, and get off scott-free?" To which my dad said, "Sometimes it's better to be injured and right, than to be wrong and well." To this day, I can't figure out what he meant.

  a c.o in one of his friday night talks noticed when he was invited for meals at the brothers and sisters homes that everyone has their chairs and sofa's pointed at the direction of the television set and asked why do people do that.

  then he went on to strongly suggest that everyone change this and either have their furniture pointed somewhere else or get rid of the television.

  what a total moron!!

  "Does your father have to step down from being an Elder because of you?" Thanks mom (God rest her soul).

  "No, you can't play Little League (that would be baseball for you Euros). You would miss too much time going door-to-door."

  "If you decide to go to college, even if you pay for it yourself, I'll have to step down." This was told to me even though another Elder's wife and daughter were studying to become RNs.

  "Only black, navy blue, or charcoal suits young man. Do you want to look like Miami Vice or something." Sorry, teenager of the 80s here.

  "Looks like you're not studying your Wachtower. I guess we'll have to begin family WT studies on Saturday night again."

  "Son, we will be adding another study night. It's time for you to go through the Young People Ask book."

  "What more of a vaction do you want? You get to have fine association with the brothers and the sisters. This is how the New System will be after Armeggedon."

  Did my parents really believe all this crap?

  did any of you read the entire bible once...?

  just wanted to know if any of you have read the entire bible?

  - i remember that it was mentioned in the congregation many times that this would be a requirement that we were to read the bible in its totality at least once and especially as elders!.

  i myself never had the time (or energy) to read the scriptures from cover to cover.

  I'm sure this is repetitive. I didnt read the Bible all the way through untill I left the Borg. I simply didn't have time to do a completely thorough reading till I shook off all the other shackles of mindless reading that I was required to do.

  I still rememeber sitting at the beach read John, and weeping. It was so beautiful to read without someone telling you what it meant according to WT dogma.
