The in-house crew more-or-less works for free. The outsourced one? Who the fuck knows?
In the past I know WT has provided a private residence for an attorney and his family who relocated while he volunteered his time at Patterson.
I also know of local JW attorneys (those who must had disobeyed counsel about higher education) have assisted in insignificant local cases and likely did so free of charge.
The private (non-JW) attorneys that are hired for cases that risk huge settlements/judgements are likely paid hourly, just like anyone else pays them. Perhaps they get a discount for their "charitable" status, or even pro bono work, but I suspect they "lawyer up" and just pay the price for attorneys who specialize in issues like CSA.

I would bet a lot of these fast-tracked young men will fall away (their beliefs will be too weak and untested or they will just change their mind and be drawn to other things - and people - outside) or they will burn out due to lacking the maturity to pace themselves and balance their lives.
Very good possibility. Just as you discover once you are an elder, all the shit that is shielded from the R&F and even most MS, is what you must deal with. Likewise, COs are drug into and must deal with all the major shit shows in all the Congs in their circuit.

Confessing one's sins/transgressions to God gains one His forgiveness. Further, confessing only to God does not constitute a "cover up" of those sins.
Confessing to elders is not about being forgiven. It is about being punished by their manmade rules.

I agree that they know what they are doing but there is nothing sophisticated in their strategy.
Strategy? There is no long-term, pro-active strategy. Other than simply to survive, their "strategy" is merely their responses/reactions they must make to avoid financial problems with various governmental authorities around the globe.
Every one of the recent changes is a direct response to a government inquiry, or adverse decision of a court, or taxing authority, or even a civil lawsuit, etc
There strategy is best described as Wack-A-Mole.

it refers to others who did plan and who supposedly have ‘apparent’ financial security.
in my opinion, the whole gist of this article is to make older witnesses feel better who did not pursue a career or plan well for retirement.. it tries to imply that those others who planned only have ‘apparent’ financial security - which is to say they don’t (?).

They are greedy, heartless bastards! They accept no responsibility for the hardship and suffering they cause. They take, take, take and offer NOTHING in return. Then they demonize anyone who was wise enough to ignore their bullshit and make decisions and take the course or action that created a better life for themselves and their family.
Yet, the WT Heavies (COs, Bethel Bigshots) LOVE the JWs that have attained the financial means to flower them with gifts and wine & dine them. Yes, they deserve the expensive "nard" that Jesus received (worth one year's wages).
