Gayle, I think that was underestimated.............I'd say reality is over 50%.

you will be pleased to learn that during april 2011, publishers who wish to serve as auxiliary pioneers may indicate on the application whether they will be working toward a 30-hour or 50-hour requirement for the month.
this is a special arrangement for the month of april 2011 only.

did you actually believe man had only been around for 6000 years when you were a jw ?
by looloo inwhen i was a study i had a real problem with that one and dinasours and the fact that skeletons of early man were found indicating man had in actual fact been around for millions of years !
we copuld not argue with that evidence , so how did we manage to convince ourselves that the rest of jws beliefs were true ?.

My Study Conductor Jumped Ship - Any Possible Explanations?
by InterestedOne inmy study conductor has informed me that he & his wife are switching to a foreign language congregation that is far away from the territory they live in (it will involve a lot of driving back & forth).
because he is switching congregations, he said he will not have the energy to devote to my study and recommended another brother who could take over, and i have met him.
however, this change happened simultaneously with a decision i have made.

I had forgotten how little substance there was in Chap 9. But, reality is, with the Japan fiasco, most people would buy into the earthquake & ruining the earth "signs" for the Last Days. The place to question the 1914 date is in Chap 8, Pg 84, Par 23 "See the Appendix, pages 215-218" -- specifically page 216 about 607 -- Ask for proof of 607.

Is there anything from the GB that isn't about them getting Money and Power?
by punkofnice insince i woke up from the delusion of the jw cult, i have seen things very differently.. it seems to me that all the gb and their suck ups gear up for is money and/or power.. eg.
brothers in cheap salesman suits on the platform.
the 'clean' image.

They have a perfect setup. They read the "accounts report" every month from the stage at the local hall. This "transparency" tricks everyone into thinking that it isnt about money because the average hall has a few thousand in the account.
They don't read it at our KH anymore. Just post it on the board in the back of the KH, and the expenses are all in one LS, nothing itemized.
Plus, cost per pub for use of regional Assm Hall just took a hefty hike, even though it's over 25 years old and would have been paid off under any traditional arrangement resulting in lowering of costs. This should produce probably $3000-$4000 additional per weekend. Where does the money go?
NO transparency.
Still, I do not see where the GB abuses the wealth of the WT Corp. Surely, NOTHING resembling what tele-evangelists do or like Corp America does with Leer Jets, luxury cars, ostentatious homes, etc.

Meeting was totally soulless, joyless
by yadda yadda 2 ini went to a sunday meeting recently (for family reasons).
it was the first meeting i'd attended in a few years.
i couldn't help but notice how utterly soulless it was.

JW meetings are of courrse nothing like most modern church services, with their animated, passionate speakers and emphasis on stirring music, and most meetings were more or less quite dull, juiceless affairs in my 35 years as a JW, but I don't know if it was my imagination or it was this particular congregation or speakers, but I swear I never experiened a meeting as dull, soulless and dry as this.
Most of those with any talent have dropped out, at least as far as serving in any position of leadership. It's just too demanding and discouraging. If they are still "in" for sake of family or friends, they're just sitting in the background (or literally, back row).

April "Pioneers" - a large army
by dozy inanecdotally , from my ( rapidly diminishing number of ) jw contacts , it does seem that the april 30 hour pioneer campaign is going well.
some congregations have over 1/2 the publishers on the pioneer list for april , including all the elders & ms. .

They drive from this point in the territory, to that point, back over here to the next point, past the first point to another point........take a break...... and they go back to see if the first one is now at home......and look! it's time to drive back to the Hall.......

What changes have you noticed in the Witness

Another change I see is that people get away (esp elders) with things that years ago would have gotten them DFd (or at least removed from positions).
Overdrinking/DWI -- Everybody is entitled to one (more) mistake, thankfully it didn't make into the newspaper...and there wasn't an accident....and nobody (else) knows and we know that you're imperfect just like the rest of us [shit! I left the bar at the same time and this could have been ME), try harder not to let that happen again (too soon -- hahaha, slap on back, let's go get another beer).
Lying -- well, now, is it really lying if the person you're speaking to doesn't really have the right to know the truth? As long as it wasn't lying to a JC, then who else really has the right to know any of your business. And lying in a divorce definitely doesn't count (or any other time to save your ass or a$$ets). Everyone knows that everybody lies in court. It's not really lying, it's strategy. (You probably just beat them at their own game! That's smart thinking! hahaha, slap on back, let's go have another beer).
Stealing -- if your employer didn't give you the raise that you deserved and you just helped yourself, then that wasn't really stealing, it was just an equalizing (I think that may even be scriptural). Besides everyone does it, so employers figure in a certain amount of theft/embezzlement/shrink into the pricing and payroll structure. It's really just another fringe benefit. If you don't get your share, you're shortchanging yourself. No different from speeding -- when it says 55 mph, we really know they expect drivers to do 10 mph over, and in fact, it would be DANGEROUS if we did not keep up with what everyone else is doing. (Can you get some for ME too? hahaha, slap on back, let's go get another beer).
(Soft) porn -- Not OK "officially", but everybody has done it, so we'll look the other way (again) this time, but you know you have to stop doing that.....(that is, stop feeling guilty about it or stop getting caught by your wife -- hahaha, slap on back, let's go get a beer -- at the strip club).
Oral sex? -- You shouldn't feel guilty, hell that's a personal matter between two conscenting married people, we're not policemen. Just don't bring it up to anyone (the wrong person) again (.....and we should all get together more, maybe you could get your wife to talk to my wife...... while we're all having another beer and the gals get loosened up.....)
IF NO ONE KNOWS -- THEN COULD IT HAVE REALLY HAPPENED? (Not without two witnesses!)
That is, unless they are out to nail ya, then YOU'RE SCREWED!

Remember when the CO visit each KH and he goes over the hour average per pub. they will all be up. So at the end of this service year Aug.31 the field service hours will be way up for the whole world. This will give the GB something to brag about in their next yearbook of 2012.
Actually, I thought FS hours of aux pios was reported seperately from that of cong pubs...........(?Is that correct? or is it just reg pios that are reported seperate?)........which would mean HIGH counts of aux pios, but only the low-hour pubs will still be reported in the reg pub column. Nat'l aver could be low.
However, CO does report on how many different pubs engaged in the aux pion service for preceding 6 months. Whoo Hoo! THAT will be a BIG number!
