  Compliments Fly - I just want to write something good about this place

  tis strange place this, i do wonder if it's evolved anything like simon first imagined it would, when he first started planning out the strategy for putting a community online like this.

  i reckon he must often get one great kick of satisfaction sometimes in knowing how much he and his wife, angharad, have done to provide this kind of communication, and the great healing it has brought into effect in many individuals lives.

  i think overall, s/he's done a bloody good job and deserve a ruddy slap on the back for their efforts.

  I Have Observed.

  i have observed among j.w.

  's a relentless striving to reach an impossible "perfect" standard of performance.this often leads to a sense of lowered self - worth...it can also lead to psyschosomatic illness, a breakdown of the body"s resistance to illness, and even premature death.. the sense of guilt ( i can't do enough ), the threat of imminent doom ( armageddon will be here any day now ), result in continual pushing of oneself beyond normal limits.. these factors all combine to produce illnesses such as ulcers, migraine headaches, heart attacks, and various and sundry other health problems......professor,dr.carl thornton...from edmond c. gruss's book the four presidents of the w.t.society.

  Blueblades, I am Dr. Carl Thornton. I have written of the subject here, and what can lead from depression to suicide. The work you quoted was probably the piece, the preface, in Bergman's book on mental illness. I am glad that you found my work. I am also glad the Gruss decided to include my comments in his book.

  XJW's and Mental Health Disorders

  as many of you now know, i was in the mental ward for a breif period.

  after i got out of the mental ward, i was placed in group therapy where i am today.

  i talked with my therapist today and he mentioned a very interesting fact.

  I am very touched by the personal and heartfelt stories that people here have written. Have any of you read Jerry Bergman's book on the subject of JW's and Mental Illness? While I do disagree with some things he wrote, I think he brought an important subject to the fore front. I did a survey here once regarding mental health symptoms before and after leaving the religion. The symptoms were very high while a member, and the symptoms dropped dramaticly after leaving. I do hope that life does get better for all of you over time.

  Want to get Rutherford's FBI file?

  i believe a freedom of information act (foia) request could be sent to the fbi to get any files they had concerning rutherford.. anyone interested in doing that?.

  There has to be records on Rutherford. He spent time in a federal prison. Also, there must be records on the WT because they were anti-government. I thought about contacting the FBI myself, have never done it.
