Is there any religion that has so much anti-apostate focus as JWs
by yadda yadda 2 ini'm surprised at how much is in the watchtower lately and at assemblies warning of apostates.
is it my imagination or is this ramping up a lot lately.
i am a born-in and stopped attending only a few years ago (now in my 40's) but don't remember so much anti-apostate warning as we see now.. the watchtower seems extra obsessed with apostates and the need to warn about them lately.

There is one other group that is similar, its the Exclusive Brethren, they even view people on the outside like as wordly people, also a person leaves the group they are treat the same way that JW's treat family or friends that leave.

Experience I had with a JW that called my phone the other day...........................
by andys inthe other day i had an experience over the phone with a jw that knows me and also she knows i am apostate, it was a coincindence on how this all happened, i had a talk with my roommate and told her that i want to move out of the house and find my own place so i be out on my own again, my roommate told me to put an add on craigslist to rent out the room in the house also i put my phone number out there on craigslist for anyone to call on the room, i all of a sudden get a call from this jw that i knew, she was looking for a room for her newhew(he is not in the jw religion) but right away she recognized who i was, this is how the phone conversation went:.
me: answer the phone, yes i have room for rent on craiglist (right away i recognize her and she recognizes me).
she: asking me about the room but also i can hear rudeness in her voice and at the same time i can hear in her tone of voice she is like uh-oh i am talking to an apostate so she is talking in a very careful way like i want to run away or get off this phone.

Pros about being a jehovah's witness
by raxxxx incan you personally think of any pros of being a jws?
anything that you have experienced that was and still is beneficial to you now from when u were a jw?.

I am very good at reading(Watchtower taught me how to read when i was a kid), thats a pro and since I am very good at reading the way I got out of the watchtower is I was able to "Read Between the Lines" and find out all the fallacys of Watchtower later on, and also it taught me how to use critical thinking skills.

Its very nice to be on here and share experiences of shunning by family members, i am going through the same thing, I called my parents the day before Christmas, I haven't talked to them for almost a year since i left the JW religion, when I was starting to talk to my dad over the phone I had it on speaker phone so my roomate could hear, my dad told me that i am not allowed to come inside the house then he hung up the phone and never even sayed goodbye, my roomate heard everything that my dad said over the phone, she said it sounds like my parents no longer care, also I been educating my roomate about the JW religion and what I have gone through and telling her if the JW's come around on a saturday morning to not listen to anything they say.

"Freeing" those "trapped" in the Organization.
by curiouscynic ini have family members who are still jws, many of you do as well.
assuming your folks are similar to mine, they are, for the most part, rational.
they are jws because they believe and they have a tremendous amount of scriptural knowledge, albeit of wts origins and with the expected bias.. if i chose to demonstrate, to my father particularly, the inconsistencies in wts ideology... he might just decide to leave.

Its all how the person feels individually about being a JW, my experience I was not happy, I wanted out, I had a desire to get out and I am never going back, and to Londo111, I agree with you 100%, I am very happy now that I am persuing Christanity and I don't find it burdomsome, every week I look foward to going to church and have made some very awesome friends that have been helping me along the way, but also I do want to say thanks to this board all the people on here, sometimes I do have to throw some steam out there of what happened when I used to be a JW, overall also everyone at work has told me that I have changed I am not depressed like I used to be everyone tells me I am alot more happier, also one other thing this board helps so many people with is when they are in the exiting process they see everyones comments on here and all the ones in the exiting process I can guarantee with 100% you find more happiness on the outside:)

Does being a JW and having a felony up your value in the kingdom hall?
by 2tone inmaybe this has been previously been discussed.
in my area in the us.
it seems that jw men that are felons or have served time seem to have more value.

I know I am probably putting some of my personal information out there but this is what really gets me, yes I have seen the same thing also, Felons being treated as if they are the top, heres the thing about me, right before I exited the JW religion I was told that I would not be able to be an Elder or Ministeral Servent because I have a whole bunch of unpaid bills from 4 years ago, I was told that I would only be just a publisher but the way it was said it was as if I was lower then the most lowest just because I have a whole ton of unpaid bills and my parents always get phone calls and leaving notes on my doorstep that I am getting sued, also when I left the organization I got a phone call telling me see what happens when you leave you get sued, I tired telling my dad that either way if I am in the borg or out of the borg all my past is catching up, the other thing is you can't reason with any of those JW's they just don't understand that the money I make is low income and I only have enough to pay rent to have a roof over my head, and take care of other bills such as car insurance, phone bill, most of the time it all goes with a little left over for spending but not much, just can't reason with the JW's at all they only take sides with the ones who are in such as the ones who have done the most worst of the worst.

This probably is off topic somewhat but I was thinking how when I used to be a JW I remember sometimes seeing certain JW's going to the bars to buy alchoholic drinks but yet they won't go into a church or near a church witth a 10 foot pole, if a JW goes into a bar its not really any big deal but yet if a JW all of a sudden started to decide to go to church then its the most worst disfellowshipping offense.
