  It illustrates what the Watchtower's members motivation really is.

  Yes, the Watchtower constantly promotes a kind of morality that is of the lowest level. It's always "If you want to survive..." "If you want Jehovah's blessings..." "If you want to continue speaking to your family and friends..." "If you want to enjoy paradise..." The Watchtower is all about reward and punishment and that is pretty much it.

  Level 1 (Pre-Conventional)

  1. Obedience and punishment orientation

  (How can I avoid punishment?)

  2. Self-interest orientation

  (What's in it for me?)

  Level 2 (Conventional)

  3. Interpersonal accord and conformity

  (Social norms)

  (The good boy/good girl attitude)

  4. Authority and social-order maintaining orientation

  (Law and order morality)

  Level 3 (Post-Conventional)

  5. Social contract orientation

  6. Universal ethical principles

  (Principled conscience)

  Pre-Conventional

  The pre-conventional level of moral reasoning is especially common in children, although adults can also exhibit this level of reasoning.   i sent a .pdf to a few friends and one of them betrayed me and forward it to a elder i know, along with the emails of the recipients.

  i cant believe i was so naive to think that i can trust someone..stupid.

  i have not talked to the "benedict arnold" yet, but hopefully soon.

  Jaun, I'm pretty sure that JW is lying. I don't think he asked the COBOE at all.

  He figured he could get away with it since he already "knows" what the COBOE would say if he did ask: that there is no book.

  I think he didn't ask because, like he said, he is afraid they will think he has been talking to apostates.

  Why does God need your worship?

  Believers worship because if you believe in God it is impossible to NOT worship God.

  Imagine that all of the sudden GOD HIMSELF appears to you.

  Massive, unimagined, supernatural power in the same room with you.

  A supernatural power so perfect and huge you can't even look upon Him. A supernatural power that IS Perfect Love and Perfect Light. The maker of the universe. The Alpha and Omega.

  ...how could you NOT bow down in worship?

  That's why believers worship: because they believe that there is a massive supernatural power that is Perfect Love and Perfect Light, ....so of course they worship Him.

  Cyberjesus, your opening post is about the JW God. JWs are a little different. They worship their god out of fear. But again, they worship because they BELEIVE that their terrible, frightening god exists. They feel they have no choice but to do his bidding if they are to survive.

  Such a terrible way to live.

  Field Service Drains Me....

  at this point i absolutely hate field service.

  i have to keep going hough, or else the brothers in my group will be all over my back.

  part of me just doesnt give a f***, but something inside me doent wanna have to deal with it.

  SHadowolf, been there, done that. I feel for you.

  I left as soon as I turned 18. I wish I would have planned my exit better. I wish I would have found a way, any way, to get to college. Plan carefully!!

  If You Were a Member of an Oppressed Minority ...

  I am not a member of an oppressed minority. I am a member of a privileged majority. I was born into a middle class white family. We didn't have much money (mom and dad were JWs dontchaknow) but still we lived in a pretty nice area with great schools.

  I left home at 18, went to work in a grocery store and didn't go to college. Today I live in a simple mobile home in a pretty nice park. A very nice park, in a very safe neighborhood. Because of the state of the country, I make less than my parents made.

  If I were a member of an oppressed minority, I would most likely be doing less well than am. I probably would not have grown up in a nice neighborhood and the schools I went to probably wouldn't have been as good. Though I had no special skills or credentials, I have always been hired for any job I have ever applied for...that might not have happened for me if I were a member of an oppressed minority.

  My great grandfather was the little boy standing on a box in the back of this picture... (The two little girls are my great aunts and we don't know who any of the other people in the picture are. This is on the Mississippi River around 1900....around 30 years after slavery was ended in this country. The black man on the right might have been a slave as a child..)

  

  My great grandpa had a pretty good start in life (his father had some money...and a camera), he did not go to college, worked hard through the great depression, did well enough to have a maid most of the time and gave his daughter(my grandma) an even better start in life than he had had...grandma also wasn't able go to college, but in her turn worked hard and gave her children an even better start in life...and now I'm doing my best to do even better for my kids by sending them to college. (I'm going to school, too.)

  I do believe that I am still benefiting from my great grandfather's privileged start in life. Actually, I know I am. The home I live in is from my grandma (it was her retirement mobile home) who was able to purchase it (and retire) in part because of money from her father, that little boy standing on the box.

  No, I don't think 'jehovah's witnesses' count as an oppressed minority. Not really. Well, at least not in America. 'White males' are also not oppressed in America.

  First official shunning was AWESOME

  we went to target this weekend to look at halloween costumes for the kiddos (and maybe me - i'm still a kid at heart).

  my daughter and i were walking down a main aisle when an ex-friend - the very one who testified that i refused to discuss my doubts - came out of a side aisle and almost turned our direction.

  we made eye contact and i gave him a nod as we continued to walk toward him.... but he stopped like he'd run into a brick wall, then turned and started walking with his back to us so that we didn't cross paths.. my daughter pipes up and says, "hey, daddy, isn't that [edit]??

  SBC, I'm really sorry that your friend is now your ex-friend. I know you were ready for it...and yet a person never really is ready for it... I mean, it sucks...period. :(

  I always think that maybe such-and-such person will just maybe be an actual human being....but no. Of course not. They're JWs.

  i've been married to the same wonderful woman for 37 years.

  she's been a jehovah's witness for 33 of those years, i am not.

  i studied with the wbts for a couple of years beginning late 1974 before deciding it wasn't for me.
