Pumping up Field Service Time to the Billions of Hours
by RayPublisher inwe know that wt has been inflating the hours spent for a long time so that their "growth" looks good on paper and for bragging rights.
here is a quote from the 2008 km:.

We know that WT has been inflating the hours spent for a long time so that their "growth" looks good on paper and for bragging rights.
Here is a quote from the 2008 KM:
-------------------------------------------------------------
*** km 9/08 p. 3 Question Box ***
? May both parents report the time used for the regular family study? In the past, only the parent conducting a family study with unbaptized children would report the time, even when both parents were involved in the discussion.
However, this is being adjusted. If during the family study both parents share together in teaching the children, then both may count a maximum of one hour a week as field service. Of course, parents generally spend much more than one hour a week teaching their children. Training children involves constant effort on the part of both parents. (Deut. 6:6-9) However, the monthly field service report should reflect primarily what is being accomplished in the field. Therefore, no more than one hour a week is to be counted, even if the study lasts longer than an hour, is conducted more than once a week, or separate studies are conducted with the children. Only one parent would report the family Bible study and up to one return visit each week that the study was conducted.
-------------------------------------------------------------
So since 2008 DOUBLE the # of family study hours and RVs are counted. Also most of the Dubbs count time "creatively" so the billions of hours reported in "field serve-us" has to be way less, maybe only half of their figures IMO...

Bible Teach Book has been getting a facelift WT Style
by RayPublisher inwell the book they use to conduct bible studies is already showing its age, and just like the changes they made to the live forever book they are doing it to the bible teach book as well.

Yep Yep weird artwork either way. The newer illustration is superior from an artistic standpoint though IMO. The guy getting mugged in the first one looks like nerdy Irkel from that old TV show lol.
Here is the whole thread from the JW Kool Aid forum:

These changes quietly took place over a year ago. Did you notice? 1) See the picture on page 59. It is a candle... yet it is different from the original printing which had smoke ascending from the recently snuffed out flame. This is better because given the material subject matter it does not give rise to any kind of afterlife as some believe. The smoke ascending would be related to the "soul" going to heaven after death. So are we using the smoking addition or the non-smoking one? 2) On page 81, paragraph 15, the 2nd sentence read: 'Satan caused Adam and Eve to sin, and that delayed the fulfillment of God's will for the earth but did not change it.' The more recent printings changes the word 'delayed' to 'affected'. The use of the term 'delayed' could afford Satan some measure of power and we can't have that. No one has power over Jehovah! 3) On page 6 there was a picture of a Bible study being conducted with a Require brochure, but not anymore! The more recent printings shows the Bible Teach book instead (since the Require brochure has been retired). - Bob

Ha! yes, I see the candle has changed. That was a very important point about the soul. The smoke gave the idea that it was like a spirit that drifted out of a body. Glad they changed that.

It's me!
Yes. I've studied with my in-laws several times over the years (it's an on again off again thing). When we were going through the Bible Teach book, she made some reference to the smoke being like the soul. She is very difficult
The only one I didn't see is about the word "delayed". Even my copy I got at the convention says "affected". At least I think it's my convention copy.

I knew there is a 2012 revision, but didn't know what the changes were. I guess we need to make sure we are using the latest book on our studies and calls.

Interesting. My 2005 print has the smoke ascending from the candle.....and on p.81 it says "affected." At that point it was a work in progress, I guess.

My 2005 printing says, "Let the presiding overseer of your congregation..." (I still call him that; can't remember the new title.)

In some languages (Spanish was one, I believe), the term "Presiding Overseer" was "President."

As noted in this topic about Photo Illustrations from our Publications, the artwork about the last days on page 83 has been completely replaced. I like the new artwork. I found the mugger and his victim in the original more humorous than scary.

Only “Apostates” Can Warn You!
by Marvin Shilmer inonly apostates can warn you!
today i added a new article to my blog disclosing watchtowers new doctrinal position that puts apostates in a unique position to warn jehovahs witnesses of watchtowers 8-member governing body.
i doubt watchtower realized the can of worms it was opening with its new slave teaching, and how it elevates apostates from debasement to unique protectors of the victimized.

My Final Goodbye
by Lady Lee ini want to start by saying i will not participate in discussion here about my resignation as a moderator at jwn.. simon please consider this as my resignation from that position.. i have been posting on this board for almost 12 years.
i know some of you a lot, others a little and some not very well at all.
i have remained here for those of you who have needed support as you make the transition out of the wts, who needed someone to listen to your experiences of abuse at the hands of jehovah's witnesses, and to both laugh and cry with you as you progress out of the watchtower society.. we know that we have all experienced the cruelty of abuse of one kind or another.

" I never thought LL would be silly enough to let Cedars manipulate her like this to be honest. "
Comments like that get me angry because that's a pretty big leap Slim...exactly how would you know that's what took place?
Does LL strike you as silly? Easily manipulated?
Therapists teach us to OWN our expressions when we want to communicate in healthy ways. If a person says, "It seems as if LL is being manipulated and being silly and here's why..." I have no problem with that.
But to make an assertion like the one above speaks for itself.

If you aren't part of the SOLUTION you may be the CAUSE of the PROBLEM
by Terry inthis is a forum of people seeking refuge from bullying, taunts, oppression and mind games.. how do you heal such wounds if your own brothers-in-banishment treat you with cold, heartless contempt?.
it doesn't cost any poster here one shiny penny to be respectful when disagreeing with their wounded comrades.. there is really just no excuse, in my opinion for getting personal.. .
personal means actually naming a person and referring to them in a way that provokes a defense on their part to a perceived insult.. a general statement such as "the rich" or "the poor" or "democrats" or "republicans" is quite different from a statement about "joe", "mary", "jose" or that places them in a disparaging context.. example: "republicans are racist" is quite different from "joe is racist.
