why is it that everyone and his cousin shows up for the memorial?
what is it about this meeting that makes people come out of the woodwork?
is it like going to church on easter and christmas or something?
Imagine how many Christians there would be if they counted all of them who showed up for Christmas services? Its the same concept.
Anybody who is worth their salt HAS to show up for the Memorial. ALL of the studies go. ALL of the quasi sort of borderline JWs go and all the guilt ridden. And...they know its only 45 minutes and they can all go out for pie and coffee afterwards. Its painless!
when i was seventeen i was very active, plans for bethel, service etc., then i got into trouble.. i was sooo in love but my girl friend changed her mind.
i could not go on without being honest with the congregation and went to the elders about our situation, that was a big mistake.
my girl friend was associated with another congregation so we met with her congregation and then mine.....back and forth....this became brutal, my parents couldn't believe they could not come to a decision..... .
57 years??? Oh I know....thats because you also associated with them in your PREVIOUS life for 20 years too :) Im sure by now you are realizing that sitting on a fence...ANY fence....for a long time becomes a pain in the a$$ too, and isnt really a viable alternative. There are good people EVERYWHERE. Im sure amongst Hitlers minions there were people equally stuck who hated to do what they were doing but knew if they objected what would happen to them.
Im also quite sure that the people who have LEFT are fantastic individuals...Ive never met such wonderful people, and so diversified. Im wonderful YOU are wonderful...obviously being a JW isnt what MAKES us wonderful dahling!
i have not been a very active poster lately [have you missed me?].
there has been plenty of drama in my life the last few weeks, and my time has been absorbed by it.
my grandma is seriously ill, and has but a few more months to live.
Welcome back HOME Viv. Makes me sicker and sicker every time I hear about these heartless idiots doing this to people. You go and sit with your family. I dare say if the elders start any crap with you your own family with put a sock in his mouth about it!!
And...Im sure you know that your gramma WANTS you to be up there with your family and not treated like pond scum in her own hall!

after the wt study yesterday, the conductor read a letter from the society about the subscriptions.
i knew that they had cancelled the subscriptions to the magazines, but now they have discontinued almost all forms of subscriptions, i.e.
watchtower/awake on tape, large print wt, etc.
Soon the halls will have doors labeled "DF only!" on them. The magazines the DFd get will be brown covers so that nobody knows its a WT...and they will be equipped with homing devices that enable the WTS to track down whole NESTS of DFd out there....plotting against them.
Just because they THINK everybody is against them...doesnt mean theyre not :)
i got new neighbours a couple of months ago.
to get straight to the point, i'm sure the husband is knocking his wife about.
i can hear him shouting and screaming and loud thuds and bangs, sometimes late at night and even last week he was so loud that he actually woke me up at 7.30 in the morning with his behaviour.. i really feel intimidated by him.
If you call the police every time this happens, then there will be a record of it happening repeatedly. I believe that after awhile it can be taken out of her hands if she will not press charges, the state will against him for spousal abuse. I would much rather be assured I did something than have her killed and then live with the fact that I hesitated.

THEN they would go over it AGAIN in a review! Then AGAIN when they redid the entire BOOK! Same thing with talks you heard over and over and over....pretty soon we were all humming along and didnt even know it.

i went to a kh near me today, they had a guy from london bethel talking.
he had some interesting things to say.. he did the talk in two parts, in the first half hour he was comparing 'this system of things with the titanic, and saying a lot about how the people on the titanic were carrying on normaly when the ship hit the berg.
then he went on about people had to 1, believe that the ship would sink and 2, have faith that the lifeboats would save them.
I used to sign for the meetings. I was self taught because in the mid 80s they hadnt yet "unified" the deaf and created their own congregations. Of course they want to find the deaf...what better way to trap a person than to promise them they will have their hearing back SOON? Used to make me sick.

i have found the isaiah book boreing and very hard to follow.
Oh it is SO not you doll...do you remember going through the Revelation book like a bazillion times??? I almost PUKED every time they tried to apply that entire freaking book to the organization! Like Twiggy trying to fill out Dolly Partons bra. If it doesnt fit you MUST acquit.

grunt...did you ever hear anything about the funeral or know anybody who went to see if the jws used their infomercial talk on the poor family and friends?
