JW at My Door Admits That Shes Had Doubts
by Broken Promises inthe background: a female jw who introduced herself as lisa came to my door a couple of weeks ago with a memorial invitation.
i acknowledged that i knew what it was about, and had asked her why they dont accept the wine and bread.
we had a discussion about that, with me stating that the bible only gives a heavenly hope, not an earthly one.

The thing is, I can see myself in her.
I can see she’s the same as how I was.
Your half way there on that score BP. Cast your mind back (if you can bear it) to those bad old days . . . it'll give you a good handle, and the right frame of mind I reckon.
Maybe pick on the subject that tweeked her the most last time (if there was one). Then gently corner her on that. Sounds like your expecting her back . . . you could be in for some fun times here!
Your doing this gal a monster favour . . . nice going
PS; Hope this makes sense . . . had a few

June 15th WT ( again) JW's told " Elders are Imperfect " Give them a Break
by flipper inthis is one subject that really annoyed me when i was a jehovah's witness - and i find it still annoys me after being out 7 years from the jw's.
the title of this jw only wt study article is " have regard for those who are working hard among you ".
in my opinion there always seemed to be a double standard in which rank and file publishers were always told to be patient with elders shortcomings - however if rank and file publishers slipped up - elders would be into admonishing and disciplining them like flies attracted to dung with no delay.

This article made my bloody blood boil too (can I say that)
I spent 18 years an MS in 6 different congo's . . . and was three times 'invited' to serve on the BOE. The first 2 times I turned it down flat citing family responsibilities and got a bum rap because of it.
The real reason was because I had numerous friends falling over themselves to lick boots and get appointed. Most of them did and went from 'nice guy's' to the trademark arseholes almost overnight . . . and I hated to see it.
Finally I succumbed on the third occasion and spent my first meeting discussing what to do about sister so-and-so and her short dresses because elder A's wife thought she was a 'worldly influence' . . . yeah . . . a dream come true . . . like I had nothing better to do!
Thankfully it lasted all of 3 months and I was on the path out.
Sure they get busy . . . but my experience was they were mostly petty, power loving individuals who loved the status way more than the 'work'
I knew about 3 over 25 years who were genuine people-carers and they spent most of their time with their face in their hands wondering what the hell the others were up to.
Another poster some time back called them 'window cleaners and janitors trying to be Lords" and that's pretty accurrate IMO
I hated the whole sorry arrangement and still do

Hello Everyone! Heres my story!
by OneDayillBeFree ini'm new here, and although i have been a lurker for several months now, its nice to finally dive in and join you all.
i hope that i find some friends as thats what i'm really looking for, i've seen enough proof that theres real love outside of this religious prison that i've biult for myself over the years, but i would like to feel it firsthand.
it's been a little hard to post anything since it's not easy being around in websites like these when you're still in and theres other jw's around sticking their noses everywhere, but now that i've found the time, i would like to share a bit about my story.... this is an email i sent paul grundy, (creator of jwfacts.com) and it basically sums up the story of my life... so i thought it would be good if you all had a read as well.

Be sure to keep in touch OneDay . . . you have an exit plan and that's great!
I have to say however . . . 2-3 years is a long time to stick with something you don't believe. Not to say it can't be done, but you might do well to have a contigency plan if things take an unexpected turn.
Things can become strained, not just for you, but for your friend Kristina also . . . just keep mindful of your mental state during this time and be prepared to bale out if you have to . . . mental health issues can creep up on you undetected . . . don't sacrifice your health.
Apart from that, I wish you well . . . but do stay with us for the resources available here

Fear tactics indeed! . . . congrats to the young man for working it out!
" . . . you never know how weighed down you are until you give something up . . ." - Amen to that
Don't bother to google "sleepwalking" and get the facts . . . just say "Jehovah" and things will be fine

How Many of Them Do You Know About?
by clarity inafter flipper's thread about the wt child abuse cases, i started to think about how many children i know of personally who have been sexually abused by a jw!.
as someone who is not especially 'in the know', it's amazing that i do know five of them.
one who was a small baby, at the time!.

Thanks for your input there Lady Lee . . . my 'knowledge journey' on this particular subject is still in it's infancy and largely relies on my own experience . . . so more investigation is something I personally will embark on as opportuniy/time permits.
In one of the instances I mentioned, a special pioneer couple became good friends of ours. They were great people. We were both beginning to raise young families at the same time. The sister and my wife shared much on motherhood and enjoyed a great friendship. She was a very pretty girl and had a kind, generous, and somewhat timid nature.
We moved congregations by a big distance and lost touch over the years. Later we learned from a mutual friend that she had developed serious problems over the abuse she had suffered as her eldest girl hit the same age. She had revealed the abuse to her Father, a long time Elder and also a good frind of mine.
Her father, who was genuinely unaware that this had happened, responded valiantly, and did all he could to nail the perpetrator (who was still around). To cut a long story short . . . her marriage fell apart and she and her parents left the JW's very painfully.
What comes home to me (and my reason for mentioning this) . . . is that a single instance of this kind of abuse creates a hugely disproportionate amount of "fallout" for so many people . . . far beyond any retribution that could ever be meted out to the perpetrator. Justice it seems, can never be found.

@ aSphereisnotaCircle. . . Then my oldest daughter approached the age I was when the abuse started.
This observation simply jumped out at me.
In three seperate cases I know of . . . sisters who became mothers hit the wall at exactly this time . . . when their children reached the same age . . . are they perhaps the "Key" that unlocks all the pain again, and bring a torrent of memories flooding back?
I would be interested if any research has been done on this phenomenon . . . subject for investigation perhaps.
This thread is just one big horror story . . . but one that needs to continue to be told . . . I admire and salute all of you who have survived this scourge and had the courage to share. Sadly, there are of course some who didn't survive.
