i have lurked here literally for years and, finally, i got up the nerve to say hello 'officially' so, hello!.

i left the borg in '97, i'm the youngest in my family of all dubs.

i was pretty much born-in as i believe i was around 2yrs old when my parents began their transition from independent thinkers to borgs.

It's the Borg that "chewed you up and spat you out". If you've been lurking for years you will know that exiting is a trauma . . . nobody gets away without being "chewed and spat".

You admit to being inexperienced . . . and at 17 you are . . . but not many your age have this realisation, let alone admit it . . . that is to your credit.

Nobody here will "drag" you anywhere . . . you will simply be encouraged to use your god-given brain and make your own examination . . . and that will be good experience for you . . . even though you are young . . . have the courage to trust your own judgement.

well i am new to this, and i must admit that at first i was very opposed to this site.

i grew up being a witness and was warned about looking into apostate things, which is exactly what this site would be that they are referring to.

i always tried to live my life the best that i could under the societys control, and never really got to have any life experiance at all.

Welcome to the site losecontrol . . . we do care. Most here (almost all) have faced a crisis point that has led to the realisation that this religion is wrong . . . and damaging.

Interestingly . . . "lack of love" is a strong common denominator in the experience of the posters here . . . and that's telling when it comes to the practice of "true" christianity . . . think about that.

Take things one day at a time . . . and don't be a stranger now . . . you will get lot's of support and good advice here.

J-Dub Gossip: How Do/Did You Handle It?

perhaps the biggest fear i have of leaving is the ensuing gossip that will follow.

i know it's stupid to worry about what will be said about me once i'm "out," but it kills me inside.

of course, that doesn't mean that i don't already deal with my fair share of gossip as it is while still "in.

Difference is your not going to have to know or worry about it when your out . . . and that's gotta be good right?

Finally out!

i've been loggin in to this site for about 3 or 4 months on an almost daily basis.

i decided to finally make an account cause i just have to vent and connect with those who have been in my shoes.

"worldly" people don't understand completely when i talk to them about the hardship of being born into a religion/cult, growing up with people making decisions for me, and having them choose my future, goals, and dreams; all the while sacrificing normal childhood joys and replacing them with study, service hours, and 5 minute talks.

As you've aleady concluded, this is a good place and you will enjoy your time here . . . it's a great aid in your "healing"

You will require some help from time to time in dealing with what lies ahead . . . be sure to post your questions as the need arises . . . there are plenty here who have had similar experience who can warn you of the pitfalls as well as offer sound advice . . . don't be afraid to ask.

Inviting djeggnog to discuss the blood doctrine

djeggnog invited me to start a new thread about the blood doctrine, which i am happy to do here.

his objection was my statement,.

"i've seen the blood video, a deceiving mix of scripture, fearmongering and pseudoscience, with plenty of lab coats in view.

Earnest . . . thank you for your input.

I would suggest that the difference is that this interpretation is a matter of doctrine, it is "present truth", and it is possible that this understanding will change in the future.

I agree entirely, however I would suggest that the carefully timed changes will continue. What we are all witnessing is a "strategic withdrawal" from an indefensible doctrinal error . . . for the sole reason of avoiding negative publicity and lawsuits.

I, like cofty, would be very interested in a response to the scriptural points outlined at the top of this page. I believe it identifies the fundamental flaw in the doctrine . . . a flaw at base level . . . of which the WT Society is very much aware.

This guy (Ray Comfort) spent many years in my home town of Christchurch, NZ . . . preaching from the top of a step-ladder in Cathedral Square . . . he had a large enthusiastic following . . . printed his own material . . . and HATED the JW's . . .

How many active JWs would opt for one meeting day verses two days per week.

and he went away and started to proclaim in the decapolis all the things jesus/yeshua did for him, and all the people began to wonder" ( mark 5:20).. the first quote is an example of a man who worshiped the father as jeshus/yeshua did and he had strong faith in yeshua that enabled him to emulate his miraculous work, but was not a follower of yeshua, yet the apostles thought to stop this man because they did not understand the concept of the narrow road to life that jesus/yeshua was advocating (matthew 7:13).. .
