  i really don't care much for jw's at my door, or at anyone's door.

  this chauvinistic, fanatical bully-a-hole, however, is one of the worst examples of a christian i have ever seen.

  the jw's handled themselves very well in the face of this ridiculous bullying and taunting by this so-called christian attempting to school the jw's about god and the bible.

  I got to the 11.30 minute point and couldn't be bothered wasting my time with the rest

  Apart from taking 11.30 minutes to say what she could have in 2 . . . it would have been 2 minutes of BS anyway

  If she told us what planet this happens on . . . I would fly there and be a JW!

  Conversation with my JW friend...would like feedback regarding topic.

  this is a conversation i had via i.m.

  with my jw friend.

  the topic was brought up because of a trumpet and organ recital i was rehearsing for, and the performance was going to be in a lutheran church (since we were using their nice pipe organ).

  I don't know if times have changed . . . but in my very early days I was told by an Elder if I cleaned the windows on the Vicars home (next door to the Church), I would have to explain "my support of BTG" to a JC. A similar warning was issued when I had the opportunity to perform cleaning services at a LDS private school.

  How Many of Them Do You Know About?

  after flipper's thread about the wt child abuse cases, i started to think about how many children i know of personally who have been sexually abused by a jw!.

  as someone who is not especially 'in the know', it's amazing that i do know five of them.

  one who was a small baby, at the time!.

  In 30 years, I know of one instance where there was a pedophile in the Christian congregation. He was unrepentant and was abusing his own children. When the elders acquired knowledge of the dangerous man they immediately contacted the local authorities. The man's children were placed in the Christian congregation instead of being placed in the foster care system. The male pedophile was incarcerated and imprisoned. To those that buy into the idea that demographically, there's a higher number of pedophiles in Jehovah's Organization in comparison with other demographics, what are these statistics based on?

  Did you read this thread thouroughly as well as the linked articles posted?

  Why does there need to be "a higher number in comparison" before it becomes a problem?

  I would suggest that the "culture of denial" reflected in this post IS THE PROBLEM

  Prophecy may be an inspired moral teaching, an expression of a divine command or judgment, or a declaration of something to come.

  You are engaging in semantics . . . a convenient accessory to duplicity

  The facts exposed in Terry's OP along with countless other examples speak for themselves

  The hysteria about Jehovah's Witnesses and false prophecy is directly related to Armageddon. Opposers of Jehovah's Witnesses believe Armageddon is a false prophecy. With this in mind, what you're really doing is condemning the holy prophets of old, not Jehovah's Witnesses.

  I don't believe anyone is being hysterical here . . . and I don't recall any "Prophets of Old" declaring 1914 as the end of the Gentile Times or 1975 as a "marked year"

  The "slave" has openly declared itself to be God's prophet in our time.

  As someone once said . . . getting consistency from them in this respect is like "fishing for nickels in a pot of treacle with a stick of rhubarb"

  I feel so alone here...

  thanks to all who helped me escape my imminemt baptism after 6 years of study.

  it was a close call.. ive clearly been labelled spirituallly weak, as nobody has called here to say hi or anything and its been 2 monthes now....their divine justice for me i guess.

  i did see my study teacher a while back when she dropped off my memorial invite, and that was after a chat, nothing to do with the wbts...seemed like it was an afterthought on her part.. they all know about my problems with agoraphobia and panic.

  it seems now it's longer and longer between times that i come to visit this site...but there is a deep feeling inside that calls me to connect with others whose lives have been ravaged in some way by the religion.

  this even a few years after leaving it all.. sometimes when it is quiet, i reflect on how it used to be..how i now live such a different life.

  walking away from the religion...there are no words to describe the sense of personal freedom and strength that has followed.
