lets face it, we don't know what humans are.

science is doing a good job at uncovering many facts about us, but even science cannot explain consciousness yet.

conciousness is still a strong mystery to us.

Like JGnat . . . I love the special nature of connections. I know people who connect so well they can converse with their eyes across a crowded room. I love adding to knowlege and pondering possibilities, but allow room for the unknown rather than commit to belief in a guess. If there is an eternity I will hear about it soon enough. Religion is a guessing game. The God I trust in does not play dice.

Buried my father today

i mostly post fluff and music posts on this thread more often now but just thought i would let some people here who still know me about what has been goin on with me recently.

my dad about a 7 month battle with lung cancer which metastasized to the bones and he died early wed morning.

my dad was a fascinating man, complex, sometimes open and sometimes a very aloof and detached person.

Sorry for your loss LRG . . . I lost my Father almost 30 years ago . . . he died young. He too was a good guy at heart . . . after all these years I still miss him a lot.

Oh and he loved Elvis too

It's simple really . . . you research both sides of the issue . . . as it is presented by the WTS in it's literature. After all . . . they have most JW's convinced that Evolution means "men come from apes" . . . I've seen it time and again on this board. It' just more mind-controlling crap!

today i uploaded a new article to my blog giving attention to an under-publicized directive from watchtower issued to elders in march of 2000 regarding distribution of property assets when a congregation is dissolved.

readers can make of it what they will, but i think the documentation speaks for itself.

Over my time in the cult, I spent time renovating KH's as well as many Quickbuilds. With the congregations of which I was a member, it was always emphasised that the assests belonged to the congregation . . . as an encouragement when fund-raising.

I'm sure this change has much to do with the current situation with the Menlo Park case.

It amounts to nothing less than THEFT as far as I'm concerned.

The WTBTS are downright thieves . . . nothing less. This makes me very angry.

The dissolving of congregations will now go ahead at pace purely for the purpose of revenue gathering . . . even if it means shared halls.

How can this change to the articles and charter be implemented without being voted on in the congregation?

Welcome to the forum BOC . . .

I can identify with the breakdown part . . . Same thing rocked my world after 26 years a JW . . . came on very hard and fast . . . and precipitated my eye-opening too.

That was 7 years ago now, and me and family are well clear of WT world. Life is happier now than it has been for 30-odd years. The "spiritual wilderness" is an uncomfortable place . . . but you will get through it. Things get much better with time. Nice to have you here.
