  How should I respond to a JW friend? (Australia)

  sorry if this isn't the right place to post this - brand new member here.. i recently caught up with an old friend who is a jw.

  she's been witnessing to me, and i've accepted all her handouts because i don't want to hurt her feelings.

  but now she's asking me for my "thoughts" about what i've read so far.

  summerinvicible . . . go with Black Sheeps post above . . . get familiar with it and don't deviate until you get an answer that satisfies YOU . . . if it doesn't . . . say so and say why . . . and ask like you have a genuine interest . . . not an objection. You're using the information THEY have provided . . . that's important. Gently and respectfully nail them to the wall on this . . . is my 2c worth.

  Update on my daughter, Ali.... the saga continues

  ali had an appointment with her dr. yesterday.

  he won't let her return to her job, due to the long hours for her position.

  (45 hours minimum) and the physical lifting that her employer would require.

  Most of the conversation centred on the flock book . . . I can't help but ask . . . why didn't they simply answer the question honestly? It's only an Elders manual FFS . . . it's not such a big deal and the guy has obviously read it . . . why not just explain it's existence honestly?

  the other day a bible student who is married said she found out her husband is sending msn messages and email to women saying he want to have relationship with her, and indicates he is single.

  my student asked me if sexting or sending emails talking about sex grounds for a divorce in jehovah's eyes.

  i tried doing reseach on this but i can't seem to find information about sexting.

  But of course she will believe the WTS has the answer to EVERYTHING . . . and has the trusted job of telling people how to live their lives right down to the tiniest detail. I doubt "not going there" has even crossed her mind.

  She'll come up with something from somewhere or someone . . . and set about trashing another life.
