Evolution Question(s)

if we have evolved my assumption is we still are evolving correct?

or am i wrong in this assumption as well?

with all that was wrought on jws this is one teaching i can not get past that of evolution v. creation.

Interesting. As biology breaks down, we replace it with technology. Look at all the prostheses we are now adding to ourselves. How much longer until they starts working better than our biology - physically and even mentally?

Will humanity will morph into some kind of "cybernetic organism"? I think we've already started down that path...

Did doctrine matter to you? Does it matter to most dubs now?

minimus started a great thread a few days ago asking what was "it" that finally made you leave the "truth"?.

the replies showed that, for the most part, it was the unloving, uncaring attitude displayed by most of the 'brothers & sisters' - elders particularly.

some posters even made the point that this lack of love drove them out despite them harbouring fears that they might actually be leaving the truth.

Doctrine was my initial reason. My congregation was too "nice" for me to see the real problems. But I was curious, being raised in it. And once I learned about internet newsgroups in college I began looking deeply into things, much more than the average Dub.

Eventually the first teaching I ended up disagreeing with was the "everyone (meaning 99% of the world) who dies in Armageddon won't ever be resurrected". It didn't make sense if nearly everyone before was resurrected. That led me to reading the Franz books, etc.

Iraq Al Qaeda link apparently is there

fox news is putting out a report that the senate intelligence committee has a sixteen page memo detailing the links between iraq and al qaeda going back before the first gulf war.

this includes monies...weapons...and training going to aq, atta meeting twice with iraqi intelligence (1994 and 2000), and a possible visit by ubl himself to baghdad a few years back.

it'll be interesting to see how this pans out...even more interesting to hear what the oppossers have to say if this all proves true...you know...the ones who keep saying there's no link between iraq and a q.

I believe that the threat of war was at least justified to get Hussein's cooperation with the UN. But the war itself was counter-productive because a big reason for going to war was to make America safer. I don't think that has happened. And now our European allies, once 100% behind us after 9/11, are taking a cold stance. And moderate Muslims in the Middle East have a tough choice to make...

don't know if any of you have read this guy rael's books about being created by human aliens and apparently in 30 or so years if we follow rael we can have everlasting life by being cloned.

So did these aliens only talk to one guy? He must be quite a special person. And if they created earthlife, why are they in such a big hurry to blow it up if we don't act the way they say, or rather, what their human representative (aka channel) on earth says???

SUV'S Owners Support Terrorists!

yep, new campaign ad's on tv basically links the owning of an suv to the need for lots of gas, to that money going to countries that supply that gas, to the terrorists who get funding from those same countries.. so, based on this - what kind of car do you drive?

do you think that we american's have a moral or ethical responsibility to self-reduce our need for oil, and reduce just in general all the "materialistic" things in life to which we feel entitled?.

i drive a geo prizm - 35 mpg - because of our environment (and plus i'm just a cheap ass!

I've never liked SUV's much. They're slow, handle poorly, are hard to get into, cause greater injuries to others in accidents. And manufacturers just keep making them bigger. -- Say, that Hummer has some nice fog lights. Oh, wait that's a Miata trapped underneath.

They have their uses for some people though.

I agree with Shutter. I went through the same thing, but from your ex's perspective. This guy needs to make up his mind about his religion before you get involved emotionally. Otherwise you'll risk heartbreak all over again. You still have a lot of feelings together and that make it difficult. But it's almost impossible to be involved with a "worldly" and still be a JW in good standing, as you know by now. It involves personal relationships with parents, friends.

i just wanna know what people think and a brief reason why.

i want to know how you think life originated on the earth.

No single event appears to be miraculous so why do some conclude that the net result of these events is the result of supernatural forces

I would say the most miraculous event that ever occured was the first self-replicating molecule. I think we'll figure it out one day, but that event changed the destiny of our planet from void to life.

What kind of an 'intelligence' would purposely create a world where rocks smash into each other in space? A place where bacteria, viruses, and parasites harm many other forms of life. A world where predation, pain, and suffering is the norm. A world where animals are poorly designed for their environments and mass extinctions have plagued all forms of life.

Hey! The Intelligence doesn't have to be benovolent, omniscient or omnipotent. It/They would appear to have at least some of those qualities though.

That doesn't even touch the question of what 'intelligence' could have created the 'intelligence' that allegedly created us. If you believe that this world is so well designed that an 'intelligence' is required, it is nothing less than special pleading to accept that the 'intelligence' that created us does not, in turn, require superior 'intelligence' that created it. Otherwise, what you are really admitting is that it is possible to have complex 'design' without 'intelligence'... and that's what atheists have been saying all this time.

Maybe our Intelligence has an Intelligence over it too? And one over Him. And so on. It must be "Intelligences' all the way up! Maybe one day we'll create a universe we can call our own...
