From another thread: "Nothing excites me more than having my intellect called into question. I must say, I get annoyed from time to time. But, I'm 6'1" a very lean 205#, I'm quite attractive, well-spoken, I make a great living while doing very little actual work, and I have a larger than average penis"
Wow! Maybe we have one among us.

todays WT study...the picture...?
by stillin ini wish i could scan it and get your thoughts.
it was a picture of a happy group of witnesses during a meeting for field service.
there was a. comment from a local high-horse-rider about a brother in the front row in the picture being disobedient.

The guy up front on the left is Steve. He's feeling sad and sorry for himself because Selma decided he was due a little payback last night and smacked him upside the head. Brother Conductor told him to read 1 Cor. 13:4-7 and pray. Obviously he was not doing a very good job of cultivating the Christian qualities cited in the scripture.
(Sorry...I was so disgusted by that now infamous paragraph I needed to put a spin on it)

Might I suggest a small 2-3 foot tree? Let him pick out the decorations and lights and set it up in his room. You could even go back to the old tradition of putting the tree up on Christmas Eve and have lots of gifts waiting when he wakes up. The benefit of having a small tree is that it can be hidden easily if need be (sadly I know this for a fact). Even a little bit of Christmas would be better than no Christmas at all. I remember as a kid taking an ivy plant in my room, wrapping it with a red hair ribbon and hiding it under my bed. That was my first Christmas tree. I think you have the ability to give your child a nice Christmas and still maintain family peace. If he blabs about it just tell them he wanted a tree and he wouldn't let the idea go so you caved and bought a tiny one. Sad to have to lie? Yes. But I say oh well in this case. Give your kid some kind of a normal Christmas. He deserves it and so do you IMHO.

To add to what leavingwt said. We don't always know how much something costs. I work in a very small office so my boss has wine ($$$ wine) delivered to the office. One day his partner's son, who cleans the office, helped himself to a bottle. It was worth over $200.00. Needless to say my boss was not happy. Also there is the issue as jomavrick mentioned of whether something has sentimental value. If it's a problem for her perhaps she should have told the second person that she would like her things left alone. And if she was upset with you she should have nicely explained why and made amends (you did watch her 4 cats for 3 weeks).

Sitting Still at Meetings has Become an Impossibility
by venusinfauxfurs insince i know the truth about jw, and still have to go to meetings for family reasons (and because i don't want to leave my friends, either) i get so sick in my chair in the hall.
i can't pay attention, i can't sit still knowing it's all such a waste of time and a big fat lie.
i get weird symptoms like: the feeling that i'm going to almost pass out, very sweaty or very cold, and weak legs though i'm sitting down, and the urge to get up and run away.

I was in the KH yesterday for my sister-in-laws funeral service. It took everything in me not to run out half way through. Shaking, cold sweaty palms, heart racing. Luckily I had not been in a KH in a very long time and will never step foot in one again...born and raised fader, should have taken the Xanax. I wish you luck and totally agree with No Apologies.

When Did You Stop Saying Amen
by BroMac infor prayers from the platform.. i've "said my own" for a few years now if i find i cant agree with what the brother is praying about.
i'm constantly amazed by the same old repetitive ramblings and just nonsense that some brothers feel is an acceptable way to pray for a congregation.. once i've finished saying my own i'll listen again to what they are going on about, and round and round they go.
the worse ones are those who can hardly speak english and i cant understand a word thats said apart from the "...feffull slive... bless bruders sis not here..." blah blah.. and everyone has gone through the public talk prayer.

Yesterday at my sister-in-law's memorial service (or whatever the hell they call it). It was my first time in a Kingdom Hall in at least 16-18 years. The man who gave the closing prayer actually began by pointing out how people were putting grave stones and skulls in their yards and celebrating death today but today we were celebrating life (it was halloween). Yeah right. While you speak of this wicked system of things and armageddon and how, while not spoken but you know what they are thinking, you unbelievers in the audience will soon die and we will be cleaning up your remains after the glorious fury of god kills you all. Really, the closing prayer starts with a jab at people celebrating haloween? It wasn't a celebration of life. It was a disgusting 2 min. honoring my 38 year old sister in law and 30 min. of doctrinal bullshit. I think witnesses celebrate the anticipated death of people with a sick sort of blood lust. But halloween is sooooo evil. Anyway there was no Amen and I bolted out of that Kingdom Hall and will never set foot in one again.
