it was suggested i start my own thread so here is my story again for anyone who may have missed it.
i am currently from minnesota and live in st. paul (roseville), but the congregation that i went to was in the apple valley area.

the family and i just got back from seeing the movie.
those of you who read the books will not be disappointed!
I read LOTR and all the Conan books several times during Jr. High and HS years - and a few times after that.
I was disappointed by the Conan movies - however, you could not get a better actor than Arnawld to play Conan.
The cast selected for LOTR looks top notch, and the preview I saw of the making of the movie really whet my appetite to see it. I am sure there will be parts that will be a bit disappointing - but what book made into a movie totally pleases everyone???? Having it come to life with real actors and special affects, instead of the Bakshi animation series is something I have long waited for.
Also - I read Bored of the Rings too many years ago. Favorite part was the council of Elrond, where Gandalf was revealed to be a 7th degree mason, and the cows outside in the pasture were chanting, "Say it loud and say it now - I'm a cow and I'm proud".... clever crazy stuff.

well, you have to admit it most da letters are boring.
especially so are the ones that contain 15-20 pages full of quotes from the golden age of march 15th 1917, or an obscure reference to a slip of the pen made by some overworked and knackered out member of writing.. lets be honest, most xjw's do not read past the first few paragraphs, but we all expect our letters will be read by the wts or its representatives, analysed and then responded to.
the reality is that they are rapidly scanned for 'juicy bits' and dumped into a bin marked, 'oh, god not another one!..
This thread would have had me ROFLMA without the good cabernet I enjoyed with dinner! Clever folks indeed.

Too funny - but also hit close to home. When our family left the KH, the secretary who was a friend of mine told me that besides missing our smiling faces, our family contributed nearly 33% of the money and over 33% of the hours for congregation. Have not heard from him for over a year, so perhaps they found replacements for us???

Mike - I know what you mean too. However, each has to follow their own path. Lately I have been combining Christianity and Cabernet - kind of a new bordeaux style meritage blend. Works for me at this time in my life... ;)

my friend just called me from her cell phone, and is out in service, sunday morning.

it's snowing here, and she is miserable.
Mulan, I am raising a glass of champagne toasting you and your husband for a lovely evening of great food, wine and conversation. Sunday mornings are as you said so special and enjoyable now. French toast, some bacon and home made latte's are the norm -and like today occasionally we crack open some bubbly.
I used to dread Sunday's too - felt guilty about very seldom going from door to door on Sunday (what kind of elder was I but not taking the lead on both Saturday and Sunday), having to get dressed up in a suit yet again (for years I wore a suit to work everyday, Saturday for witnessing and Sunday), and then knowing that after all the activity with the KH on Sunday there really was not any weekend left.
